haha, everyone wants a Death note... too bad the Shinigami aren't as clumsy or "bored" as Ryuk... (Ryuk dropped the Death note that Light found, he did it because he was bored, and it just happened to fall in Japan - light wasn't chosen or anything, it was just luck...)

L comes in as a character who believes that "Kira" (the name given to the one who is killing people by heart attacks, because the whole world believes it is some god controlling this) is committing wrongdoings, and sets out to find out who he is and put a stop to him. "Murder is murder, justified or not"

it's very much an Intelletual anime, a battle of wits... and it's in 2 seasons...
(it's not a comedy - except for Misa, who comes in later)

note: Death Note is VERY intellectual, and often it is hard to keep up - I actually got lost at one point and had to re-watch 3 episodes (36 episodes long)


if you want a comedy, however, I suggest "Zero no Tsukaima" (the Familiar of Zero)

that is HILARIOUS

Light Yagami, top student in Japan, Aced the yr12 final exams, views the world as "Rotting" - he lives his life watching the world slowly die, people killing, raping, stealing, the crime rates are disturbing...

...then, one day, he see's a book drop from the sky. He later goes an picks it up (at recess) - it is labelled "Death Note" (In English, he studies English and is able to read it)

he reads the rules:

"The human who's name is written in this Notebook shall die"

...there are more rules, but that is the most important one...

upon seeing this, he first considers it a prank, but curiosity orevailing, he decides to try it out...

he see's a live newscast of a man who has kidnapped 12 children and 3 teachers, they have determined the name of the person, so Light writes his name down...

...the man dies of a heart attack 40 seconds later...

from then on, he sets out to kill all the criminals of the world, and reshape the world in his image...

oh, yeah - forgot about him

and NO WAY!!! L is nothing like N - although Light was very much like Ghetis...

L was a lot smarter, and actually knew that Light was evil the whole time...

"L" (L Lawilet) is the character of my Avatar, he is (in the anime "Death Note") the No. 1 Detective in the world, and had only ever been represented by the letter "L" on a screen with an artificially warped voice...

until the Death Note case, he had never shown his face...

and lol, L is only a supergenius detective, who managed to figure out the supernatural abilities of the Death Note and confirm Light Yagami, Misa Amane, and some other guy were all behind it's use...

...but then Light murdered him...
