PS: you should watch Gunslinger Girls as well (it's quite old, but it's got a similar mood/background -depressing story about cold-hearted assasins who dwell between their reality and their erased/forgotten past- just that this time it's not a boy and a girl, but a whole army of LITTLE GIRLS (but there's nothing perverse in that, more like it even makes it sadder/more depressing)
Crap, so there's no hope after all? (I mean, I've seen other depressing shit and I DO like depressing stories as long as they have a solid story/narrative/background, and phantom do have all of those things but... it's somewhat relieving when even in the deepest of holes you can see a ray of hope >_>)
PS: I know that in the original game and in some sort of OVA there are alternate endings... but I'm just wondering about the anime series ending... anyway wether it's hopeless or not PLEASE DON'T SPOIL IT TO ME >_<

Ok I won't lie, it's pretty awesome. Production values seem high and the narrative style plus the story itself its quite good and well excetuted...
still... there's a sad atmosphere filled with some sort of hopelessness that sometimes it's... suffocating, dunno how to say it properly...
