  1. Official TPCI Pokemon Tournament 2009 | Congrats to all who participated!!

SailorClef was actually in Dallas this year. I think she was eliminated in the 3rd(?) round. Myself, I'll be showing up in Nashville.
  2. Official TPCI Pokemon Tournament 2009 | Congrats to all who participated!!

People are already starting to accuse me of stealing zerowing's team when I practice on NB. It is mere coincidence that we have the same team. Great minds think alike, I guess?
  3. Official TPCI Pokemon Tournament 2009 | Congrats to all who participated!!

Hehe, nice reasoning PBB. I figured as much. I've been using Lum in my practices with a few other people on NB. I'm still a little shaky on my decision to use Garchomp over Swampert or Mamoswine, though. I feel like if I win Nashville, everyone will accuse me of copying zerowing, when in...

zerowing, do you mind me asking what item you would recommend on a Garchomp? I'm thinking Lum, Haban, or Orb, and I'm leaning towards Lum to stop any DV Smeargles I may come across. Which did you use?
  5. Official TPCI Pokemon Tournament 2009 | Congrats to all who participated!!

Yeah, but using Abomasnow was an idea I made on my own without outside inflluence. It was just coincidence that zerowing thought that too, though he probably thought it first. Also, Zapdos + Swampert or Zapdos + Quagsire (Damp) are pretty viable.

I'm not so sure about that. He specified that the guy took a bus ride, while I'm pretty sure Ultimatedra and The Fish King drove together. Hey, this was totally my team first. I've been practicing with SailorClef for a long time on Netbattle with something VERY similar to this.

Congrats zerowing! Now my question is, were you using the team that you posted earlier on that utilizes Transform? TBH, I'm quite fond of that strategy and was thinking of using a modified form of it.
  8. Official TPCI Pokemon Tournament 2009 | Congrats to all who participated!!

Good luck zerowing! I honestly hope a Smogoner wins!
  9. Official TPCI Pokemon Tournament 2009 | Congrats to all who participated!!

Will someone please do me a favor and hop on the PMNB server of Netbattle? I need to test some strategies before I begin training my Pokes for Nashville.
  10. Official TPCI Pokemon Tournament 2009 | Congrats to all who participated!!

Um... are you being serious? That honestly isn't a very good combo... Anyways, zerowing, what exactly was the purpose of putting 76 speed? Who does it outspeed and under what conditions?
  11. Official TPCI Pokemon Tournament 2009 | Congrats to all who participated!!

I'm in quite a rut. I cannot seem to decide which team I will be using. I want to go with the TR + Imprison strategy, as it has appealed to me since I conceived it (unknowing that it had already been conceived) and has been proven to work well. Now I don't want to copy zerowing/batpig's team...
  12. Official TPCI Pokemon Tournament 2009 | Congrats to all who participated!!

I'm upset that I didn't take credit for the Imprison+TR idea earlier when I posted it on SkarmBliss. I had a similar team thought out, with nearly the same Dusknoir, Explosion instead of Transform on Smeargle, and Metagross and Heatran as opposed to Machamp and Lapras. Yet, I believe this idea...
  13. Official TPCI Pokemon Tournament 2009 | Congrats to all who participated!!

Well, I'm not sure how it works, but somehow, it must, since batpig won SFO with it.
  14. Official TPCI Pokemon Tournament 2009 | Congrats to all who participated!!

I'll ask yet again if anyone can explain this to me.
  15. Official TPCI Pokemon Tournament 2009 | Congrats to all who participated!!

Might one be able to explain to me how this works?
  16. Official TPCI Pokemon Tournament 2009 | Congrats to all who participated!!

How so? Please elaborate. I don't quite seem to understand the strategy behind that combination. I mean, I understand how Snorlax can be taken out easily by a DynamicPunch, but can't a Metagross, Dusknoir, or Spiritomb just as easily outspeed Machamp under TR to Psych Up the boost before Snorlax...
  17. Official TPCI Pokemon Tournament 2009 | Congrats to all who participated!!

You're correct. Although I do enjoy the doubles 4v4 metagame much more than I had ever enjoyed singles, it occurred to me lately that there truly is one dominant strategy, which happens to be Trick Room with Smeargle support and a BellyLax. To me, it usually comes all down to prediction in the...
  18. Official TPCI Pokemon Tournament 2009 | Congrats to all who participated!!

You know what I hate? When I come up with a strategy, then I check Smogon, and I've pretty much copied someone else. For example, this occurred when I thought of using Lapras. Now I find out that batpig used one. I still have one effective strategy that I'm sure only 2 other existing people...
