  1. B&W Research Thread

Smogon's description of Mist in B/W incorrectly states that it "Does not prevent stats from being lowered by the side-effects of attacking moves, such as Seed Flare." I just tested this on my Black, twice to be sure; both times, Icy Wind hit and dealt damage but did not lower Speed when Mist was...
  2. Ask a Simple Question; Get a Simple Answer MK V: We're Back!

I'm sorry if there is some obvious place I should rather have looked for this, but does there exist any real, concrete research on whether the Battle Tower/Frontier/Subway in any generation 'cheats', as in actually fudging the probabilities for things like accuracy checks or critical hits as...
  3. Status in Black and White [GP 2/2]

Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't Nightmare take 25% per turn? Or has that changed?

    a) Yes. b) Just trade for one. If you want the particular Turtwig/Cacturne on your American Gen 4 games, just Wi-Fi trade them to someone with a Japanese 4th gen game, have them Pokéshift to B/W and then trade you back.

Oh, that explains a lot. I was really puzzled that the beta testers appeared to have somehow managed to miss this and that every B/W forum ever wasn't talking about it. Thanks.

Is the glitch where you get stuck and have to restart whenever two or more of your Pokémon faint in the same turn in a double/triple battle happening for everyone or just me and my friend?
  7. B&W Research Thread

Does Roost still actually remove the Pokémon's Flying-type? Because a wild Hatooboo just used Roost and my Shikijika's Double Kick did a tiny amount of damage right afterwards, with no super effective message that I could see.

Is there any word yet on the experience formula in B/W? Or the catch rate formula, for that matter; it must have changed, since Minezumi (255 catch rate) managed to break out of my Poké Ball at less than 33% health. (Well, that or I encountered that 1/65536 chance.)

The Pokémon games round everything down (specifically, they only perform integer operations, so all remainders are discarded, even at intermediary stages in the calculations).

Poison Point takes effect when the Pokémon with the ability is hit by a contact move. Poison Hand takes effect when the Pokémon with the ability hits the opponent with a contact move.

At any point before you actually catch it, you can return to the Pokémon Center where you can buy more balls.

No, but since it's a level-up move for Riolu, you should be able to get it if both parents know it.

No. Encourage only affects moves that have a non-zero, non-guaranteed "effect chance" in the data, which it then treats as zero to compensate for the boost. Effectively, that means these moves; not all of them have been tested and I suppose others are theoretically possible, but from a...

Oh, but Serebii is rarely consistent. The Pokédex also gets Reparudasu right, but in most of the coverage sections (with Pokémon lists for trainers, etc.) he's still calling it "Leperasudu" or "Leperasuda" or something about as nonsensical. Likewise, in the actual Pokédex drop-downs, he's...

Supposedly, if you have six Pokémon you will be prompted to switch one of them for Reshiram/Zekrom after catching it.

It doesn't increase if your opponent's Attack is higher; it uses your opponent's Attack stat instead of yours when calculating the damage. Hence, it will be less powerful than Crunch if you're fighting something with a low Attack. No, not yet. According to Serebii, the Dream World will open in...

http://veekun.com < Best Pokédex on the Internet, vastly superior to Serebii's in general, though some of the fifth-generation move/ability descriptions are vague/incorrect/lacking (I've personally been compiling information from here for him, though, so hopefully that will be remedied soon)...

If I understand it correctly, he means that the user of Knock Down can switch and the target will still be knocked down, whereas switching the target out will remove the effect.

I am quite confident that I saw someone in Serebii's discovery thread discussion claiming to have found the Gracidea. I don't know if I can find the post again. EDIT: Here.

I think you mean Reflect instead of Barrier, unless I'm missing something huge and Barrier isn't a run-of-the-mill Defense-sharply-rose move anymore. Don't know about Substitute, but the Dream World is a website and its servers crashed on something like the day of the release. It's still not back.
