  1. Sea of Fire

Sea of Fire - An OU Sun Team Hi everyone! For those who don't know me, I'm an OU moderator on Showdown! - stop by and chat! Anyway, I'm here with one of my most successful teams. I wanted to make a Sun team that would also do relatively well against Rain. My teambuilding style is "no cool...

WELP. Also Dusclops is kinda close too but not as much so yeah. I think Houndoom dropping has already been brought up in this thread because it's consistently been close to dropping. Meloetta sure is interesting. I honestly wouldn't be too surprised if it's a bit broken, as I feel it could run...
  3. Theorymon Sessions

If it isn't clear, if this pattern continues for the next two months, Golurk will rise back up and Poliwrath has a chance of moving down. How will the absence of Golurk and the introduction of Poliwrath affect the metagame?
  4. The Next Best Thing

When I saw the title of the thread, Specs instantly came to mind darn you molk ._. Emboar @ Life Orb/Expert Belt Trait: Blaze EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spd Jolly Nature -Flame Charge -Flare Blitz -Superpower -Wild Charge Many things are threatened by Emboar, so Flame Charge on the switch...
  5. The Royal Snake: Serperior in NU

For a Contrary set, I'm not even sure that you'd really need Giga Drain because Serperior is fast and powerful enough such that it needs coverage more than recovery. So, I think Serperior @ Leftovers Trait: Contrary EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk) - Leaf Storm -...
  6. Lower Tiers BW NU Viability Rankings

Yes, the rankings are being split into high, middle, and low, denoted A+, A, and A- for example.
  7. Research Week #3: Altaria, Arbok, Linoone and Pinsir

I've used Linoone a fair amount on a somewhat gimmicky team built around Gorebyss and Linoone sweeping. Unfortunately, Linoone's Attack is so low that it can't do too much by itself. I don't see that much use in it as a revenge killer because pretty often the opponent can just switch out to...

Ice Body Jynx would be a real problem and a terrific mid/late game sweeper. Permanent 1/8 recovery every turn allows it to Sub much more freely, and Lovely Kiss alongside the threat of being OHKOd by Blizzard make it not that difficult for Jynx to get going. The Nasty Plot mono-attacking set is...
  9. kacaw! Mandibuzz in NU

An option that could work is to run 44 Speed EVs in order to just outpace the standard Shadow Ball + Status + Pain Split + Heal Bell Misdreavus and to do a lot of speed-creeping on base 80s with little or no investment. Mandibuzz with Taunt completely shuts down standard Misdreavus, Musharna...
  10. Research Week #1: Camerupt, Swanna, Tropius and Zebstrika

Just Theorymonning here, but I think Misdreavus or Musharna with Twave would be really good partners for Camerupt and especially Tropius. Both are fantastic walls and clerics which can provide nice defensive synergy, and SubSeeding Tropius with para support would be annoying.
  11. RU crisis core II

LOL this is like the third time that I've forgotten Trick Room has negative priority. I put so much effort into that too.

1 hour wasted Scorpdestroyer gets 1 point for disproving my counter
  13. Zebstrika discussion

yeah yeah I'm blind yeah yeah still not running physical though
  14. Zebstrika discussion

It's really unfortunate that Zebstrika's physical movepool is so bad, as I'm sure we'd all love to take advantage of that good base 100 Attack. It's best physical options are Double-Edge, Bounce, Flame Charge, Pursuit, Double Kick, and Spark for STAB (lol), which is of course, a cringe-worthy...
  15. RU crisis core II

It doesn't have to be viable. Or at least, that's how it's always worked in past Core Crises.
  16. Time to Fly!

Hello! Nice team you have here :). One thing I'm noticing is that your three "breakers" all have one thing in common: they have pretty average Speed stats. That's why I think paralysis would be really useful to you. A good way to incorporate this onto your team is to replace Misdreavus with...
  17. RU crisis core II

Surprised nobody has posted this yet. Also, Walrein doesn't have a nature. Spiritomb @ Leftovers Trait: Pressure Modest Nature EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpA / 4 Def -Rest -Sleep Talk -Dark Pulse -Calm Mind Super Fang doesn't do anything because Ghost-type. Psychic doesn't do anything because...
  18. UU Stats: May 2013

Victini and Rotom-H are both not bad because they can't be burned by Sableye and can hit Togekiss hard. However, Victini doesn't like switching in on a Foul Play and neither of them like being paralyzed, but they're both good options. If you have any short, simple questions about anything...
  19. Carracosta Discussion

Mixed Carracosta is definitely an option people should consider. Its base 83 Special Attack is usable and hurts at +2, even uninvested. Without a power-boosting item like Life Orb, +2 4 SpA (Naive) Carracosta guarantees an OHKO on physically defensive Tangela after Stealth Rock and secures a...
  20. LonelyLaddering (Offline!)

Looks great! I think it'd be more entertaining to have someone else watching and talking with you, as the commentary would be smoother and it's hard to talk to yourself for hours. Then again, you'd have to find someone who'd want to hang out and stuff. In any case, it's off to a good start and...
