Welcome to Smogon! Take a moment to read the Introduction to Smogon for a run-down on everything Smogon, and make sure you take some time to read the global rules.
I'm not a fan of this strategy, by any means. However, I sort of see his point. It's not that they think "hey he used Hidden Power he might not have room for Ice Beam", but rather "hey he used Hidden Power what could that possibly be used for?" It would make them wary, while still accomplishing...
What exactly are you trying to prove with Base Stat Totals? Maybe because Quagsire's stats are better placed? Gastrodon is a sitting duck to powerful physical attackers like Scyther and Pinsir.
I've used both Gastrodon (Toxic/Recover/Ice Beam/Earthquake), and Swampert (Stealth Rock/Waterfall/Earthquake/Avalanche). I can safely say that Gastrodon has lasted longer, taken more hits, and been more fun to use, but Swampert has simply been more useful. Why? Stealth Rocks.
Neither are going...
Why? He asked for a strictly accurate calculator, so even though Metalkid's is accessible, easy-to-use, or whatnot, it isn't very helpful if it isn't completely accurate.
Why not? Fake Tears is listed as a standard set. Glaceon does indeed win in stall wars against Hypno with Fake Tears, because Hypno can't do much back while Glaceon Fake Tears, recovers with Wish, and hammers with Ice Beam.
And Grumpig has to switch in, doesn't it?
I've noticed that most of the counters in Glaceon's counters section are OU, which doesn't make much sense considering Glaceon is UU, so I've rewritten the counters section to include more UU counters.
[Counters]
<p>Politoed resists Ice Beam, has great Special Defense, and isn't weak to any...
Can someone please explain why Scyther is UU? It's Pinsir+ in my eyes. Swords Dance variations are just about impossible to wall and just about impossible to revenge-kill. Swords Dance/Quick Attack/Aerial Ace/Brick Break is what I run, the only possible counters to it really are Claydol...
Hm, the choice is between supporting the team or attempting a half-assed "sweep" off of very low speed, average attack, and nothing to differentiate yourself from standard sweepers. If I lay down Stealth Rocks, I could actually sweep with my Scizor for the 2HKO on Gyara/OHKO on Infernape/etc...
First of all, the post never said that the moves they used had to make sense. Hell, we're using Rain Dance Pikachu, no EVs at all, etc. Secondly, it's a moot point anyways, as Salamence would be running from Weavile or anything with an Ice move.
See the post directly above yours. Besides, the Raikou might have predicted a switch, because it did outspeed Barkers, and Barkers might be something that is OHKOed by Raikou.
Not to mention that even without Roar, Donphan prevents certain threatening Pokemon from setting up, like SD/DD Dragons, SDLuke, DDTar, and AgiliGross, because of his excellent physical defense and super-effective attacks.
And humans won't go extinct if we go ahead and slaughter everyone in Mexico. Doesn't mean we should do it, though.
Even on a high school/junior high level? I don't think it's necessary for the future accountant to know about a worm's anatomy.
Because they have a life, and all life forms...
Even with Swords Dance, Sandslash isn't doing jack squat to Gliscor/Skarmory, though. Donphan can at least hamper them by Knocking Off their item, or Roar them away.
