My local GameStop does a "midnight" release where they let you have the game 10 pm on the night before release day. I think this is pretty common, so it might be worth calling your local GameStop if you want a physical midnight release.

The way it's worded seems ambiguous, there's the fact that as of now we've already seen 170 old Pokemon in trailers, etc, (per Serebii) and I don't think Game Freak would release a number this early. But I could be wrong.
