Scratching can be tough. This one... Was tough since everything besides the head, the feet, and the right wing were from the old sprites. Everything else (tail, right wing, body, etc.) was scratched The Mew looks interesting. Might change the tail color, though. Blue doesn't really match...

Sorry, bud; really can't help you there. I use Photoshop for spriting.

did you open the file as a white background or transparent? Even if you open it as white and delete the white background the white will show up over transparancy.

Just as a bit of reference, make sure that you are opening the file as transparant and save as a .png. The picture is higher qualaty and you loose the white background.
