This is not true, or poorly worded. Omastar is usuable in only one team archetype, which is Rain teams. Omastar is a 100% niche Pokémon in the Overused tier, and his only niche is, well, rain teams. This is not the case for the three Pokémon you mentionned.

Imo, regular Gyarados is just way more splashable thanks to SSSS, and is surprisingly good in this meta. Gyarados doesn't need as much support from its teammates than its Mega form, meaning you don't have to really build around it, leaving your Mega slot free.

I know this is common knowledge, but you could add in the cons that Pyukumuku is completely shut down by Taunt and is walled and brings in any Subtitute user, though this can be somehow remedied by CursePass, but Sub users usually pack Toxic, which Pyukumuku hates.
