Welcome to Smogon! Take a moment to read the Introduction to Smogon for a run-down on everything Smogon, and make sure you take some time to read the global rules.
Virizion and Cobalion getting Aura Sphere and Vacuum Wave now is cool. They are finally getting good enough special movepools to actually run Calm Mind sets, and maybe even experiment with Choice Specs. And as someone who can't stand using Focus Miss, I appreciate the other options.
And not Kyogre :(
I know it's already a strong Pokemon, but introducing cool new Water-type moves like Wave Crash and Flip Turn without giving them to the Oceanic God-King just does not sit right with me. Groudon has gotten a lot of movepool additions over the past few generations, so it...
Honestly, the most interesting new tool for Lapras is now Icicle Spear. It's had Dragon Dance since forever, but it's never really been able to capitalize on the Speed boost with its physical Ice moves being only Ice Shard and Avalanche. Will Lapras ever be a strong offensive sweeper? Of course...
I appreciate the creativity, but I'm pretty sure that, even on that set, giving your Moonblast a chance to badly poison would be ten times better than making your Acid Spray or Icy Wind do a tiny bit more damage.
I think you are underestimating the power of Poison/Fairy as a typing. It is literally two of the best defensive typings in the game added on top of each other. The difference in the number of resists and lack of weaknesses compared to Dark/Flying is quite extreme, not to mention the lack of a...
Bro what are you talking about... *Boomburst* has no flavor. It is just an insanely OP move. Bloodmoon Ursaluna's signature move is by comparison much more dynamic and creates interesting opportunities for counterplay.
makes perfect sense to me
I'm just sad they don't get to keep their original abilities while benefitting from the stat boosts. But I understand how it works.
I just pray Ivy Cudgel has 100% Accuracy so Cornerstone Mask Ogrepon can be a fun offensive Rock-type without having to worry about missing its STAB attacks...
Maybe the stat boosts are an effect derived from the held item, and not the ability?
Anyway, I like these abilities for the Ogrepon forms. They are all distinct, thematic, and seem to play to the strengths of each typing.
This offends me. Empoleon is an excellent pokemon already and this is a MASSIVE buff. It turns an interesting tank into just another overtuned stall wall. There are other starters like Meganium that deserve these kind of buffs a lot more.
Also, penguins don't roost. They have rookeries and lay...
I don't necessarily think that's a bad thing. Some moves like Toxic should have never been universal. It adds more depth to the game when movesets are varied.
Every single physical dark-type using Knock Off as its STAB attack, plus nearly half of all other physical attackers using it as a...
I don't feel like I have a ton to add to the discussion here, but I think 2 flavor abilities is fitting based on the trends we've seen in Generation 8.
