Gen 1 Nidoking (UU Mini) [QC 2/2] [GP 1/1] -- Taken over by PvK

With regards to Nidoking's movepool I would suggest mentioning it along the lines of "Despite it's awesome movepool and well rounded stats, Nidoking struggles to make an impact in RBY UU, mostly as a result of it's many common weaknesses(psychic, water, ice, and ground) along with it's middling...

OU Defensive teambuilding vs. Offensive teambuilding

I just edited the post and included under the offensive section. definitely lends herself more to fast-paced offense than to any kind of stall. seems like he could go either way, with the RestTalk set walling a good portion of the meta. Edit: These two have now joined Vap in my "offensive"...

OU Defensive teambuilding vs. Offensive teambuilding

This thread is an attempt to discuss/determine how effectively OU pokes perform their duties on the two main types of teams: Offensive and Defensive. And of course when I say offense, I'm including Baton Pass, although that probably deserves a seperate post on this thread. This is by no means...

Gen 1 Nidoking (UU Mini) [QC 2/2] [GP 1/1] -- Taken over by PvK

With STAB EQ and so much coverage, Nido's lack of usable poison STAB is pretty much a moot point in the first two generations. That, and there aren't any good damaging poison moves in gen1 anyway. SB would have been nice in Gen2 though.

    OU GSC Good Cores

+ These guys have all the moves, and you can never be quite sure who has what in terms of coverage. And OFC one typically fills the role of sleeper, and the other as normal-resistant phazer. Nido can put lax to sleep and Tar can them roar him out safely. Ttar can also use pursuit to chip...

    OU GSC Teambuilding Compendium

Also it's worth noting that Thief Skarmory has the unique ability to switch into non-fire blast Marowak and ruin it.

    OU GSC Teambuilding Compendium

That's true, but thief variants of those pokes are incredibly rare. It's just like plenty of pokes have roar, but are generally not considered to be "phazers".

Another category that needs to be added: thieves.

Lower Tiers RBY UU Potential Ban(s) Discussion [Dragonite Suspect Test]

Of course speed matters in every Gen, but it's particularly broken in Gen1. Tentacruel isn't the fastest pokemon in UU, but to my knowledge only Electabuzz, Dugtrio, and Persian are faster. Agility Dragonite however cannot be outsped, and the only surefire way to defeat is to wait for a...

Lower Tiers RBY UU Potential Ban(s) Discussion [Dragonite Suspect Test]

Problem is trapping puts too much emphasis on speed- in a game where speed is already broken, as well as luck. Your standard wrap teams look pretty much the same: Dragon and Jelly + sidekicks Cat, Kangaroo, Groundhogs and Bignose. With a few substitutions. Combined with Hypno, trapping...

Lower Tiers RBY UU Potential Ban(s) Discussion [Dragonite Suspect Test]

Honestly wrap is just annoying and tedious. The whole metgame is centralized around this strategy, and the two pokemon who abuse it the most. And that goes double for the dragon. It's a fun-sucking cliché and should be banned.
