I'd say there's a fair chance bisharp and dunsparce just won't be in LZA. I expect all Kalos native mons will make it, but the rest of the dex is so big I don't think we'll get anywhere close to the full thing. Maybe numbers close to the central kalos dex because we're just in Lumiose?

No, I just hoard the free gems from events until there's something I really want. I try to keep at least 2 pities worth of gems on hand to ensure I can get the units I want most (1 "pity" = 36.6k gems, the amount you need to hit "scout points" where you can pick the unit you want on a banner)...

Let's GO had megas but no abilities, and as mentioned in other posts several mons in PLA had their ability effects hard coded. That could be an approach they take to megas, but they could also just not give them abilities. It's still a 100 BP stat boost

I could see LZA being nearly entirely in the city to address the issues with 3d games that it's hard to flesh out the towns/cities and they end up feeling bare. I would expect at least a decent number of buildings to be explorable and not just menus, but not sure how expansive they can make it...
