I think the best solution to power creep is to accept that there is none. The only "solutions" there are would utterly annihilate the competitive singles as we know it. It sucks, but there's nothing we can do.

I get what ur saying, but things like this were tried before with a gen 6 uu no scald ladder, and usually don't work because with two ladders, people tend to prefer the official one.

Sets like this are why it overpowered. You need to run a specific set that makes the Mon overall somewhat worse just to beat every set EXCEPT one. Having to heavily adapt a standard set just to not lose to most sets is inherently unhealthy for the meta.

Metagame SV OU Metagame Discussion v2 [Update on Post #5186]

When doing things that will have a huge effect on the meta like this, its always best to do something that has proven effective elsewhere when possible, rather than risk doing something that could have a negative effect on the meta. Also, I'd like to repeat that I think banning dire claw would...

On one hand, I agree with what you say about dire claw being relatable to kings rock, but the fact is that theres a good reason smogon always goes for consistency, and banning the Mon is the consistent thing to do.

If every new toy needs to be ubers, than OU would suffer more if they weren't. Also, tera got the exact same treatment as max (Suspect). The only difference is that the community decided not to ban it.

Me too. I'm especially excited to finally get to play more with the home mones, since I haven't gotten much time in the past week with school and studying for finals.

I hear what you're saying, but smogon tends to repeat past solutions for problems, and the past solution is to ban light clay. Also, while Grimm is the best screener, other screeners have unique traits that make them strong too, like kelfki's spikes or pults curse/wisp.

Metagame SV OU Metagame Discussion v2 [Update on Post #5186]

Traditionally, in situations like this, smogon bans light clay over the dual screens user. You ban grimsnarl, people use kelfki. You ban that, people use azelf. Light clay is better than screens itself because it keeps the overpowered thing in check with less effect on the meta.

The big bird is back and its here(probably) to stay. I'm glad pelipper is back, since it think even peephole rain was hugely slept on, and now it gets several new abusers.

Metagame SV OU Metagame Discussion v2 [Update on Post #5186]

Yes, but I don't think the move is broken, more as it's uncompetitive and luck based. It seems kind of like kings rock, in that its abuser can try to use it to simply had through would-be walls. The kings rock ban is the main reason I'm saying this, since it was only really used by cloyster...

Is it possible that dire claw will get the boot instead of sneasler? I understand the whole thing with how if a move breaks a single pokemon, ban the pokemon, but I feel like dire claw could go because it isn't quite breaking sneasler, but is generally uncompetitive and luck-based. Just a...

They are human. There is no way to predict the future, and you can't blame everything that's wrong with the meta on them. Also, there is a reason only they have a say in what gets suspected. They understand the meta more than 80% of the playerbase. P.S. You can't blame them for Tera not...

Put is and always has been a strong but balanced pokemon. Chien, on the other hand, is and insane breaker that is currently only held back by the fact the two most overpowered Pokemon in The meta. I agree with you that put is strong, but it isn't banworthy while chien most likely will be when...

Why are you people always hating on finch/the council for not agreeing with every fucking opinion you have? These are some of the best players on the site, at least ten times smarter then you. They can't do everything at once, and you shouldn't scream at them for being human. Editorial: the...
