Welcome to Smogon! Take a moment to read the Introduction to Smogon for a run-down on everything Smogon, and make sure you take some time to read the global rules.
Hammer Arm? Is that a typo? I can't see the point in having it when you have Drain Punch. If want something that hits harder you may as well go for Wood Hammer for better coverage.
The set I've been using is AV with Wood Hammer / Drain Punch / Stone Edge / Power Up Punch. Many people may...
I wonder if boosted Knock Off still gets a Technician boost? It's unlikely (Pursuit does not, after all), but if it does, it could be deadly on Scizor and, in the lower tiers, Ampibom and, in the even lower tiers, Persian.
Return is physical. Sylveon's Special Attack stat dwarfs its attack stat.
EDIT: That said, I really hope Gamefreak add in some good special Normal moves in this game. I much prefer Aurorus to Tyrantum, but that ability looks useless in terms of gen 5's possible movepool.
Why not nine? It's as valid as any other number. Still, in an ideal world, I'd choose 8 - fundamentally very different from the current 6 Pokémon metagame, but wouldn't extend the length of matches too much and, more importantly, still leaves some emphasis on the importance of cores, synergies...
For all the reasons mentioned before, 12 would be a bit too ridiculous in my opinion. 8 Pokémon teams sound optimum to me. Someone should put a poll up with various team sizes to see what the community most desires, though.
In theory, I think +20 to the "NU of NU" is a great idea, BUT in practice, at the moment, there would be too many issues. When something moves up or down between Uber-OU-UU-RU-NU, it is a big deal for the affected metagames and it is arbitrated by the Smogon community. Because PU is not laddered...
I've been playing this ladder quite a lot, and I'm in love with it. I definitely don't think any of the buffs need changing, as these "ranks" are not absolute and giving anything +20 or more would throw the metagame too far out of whack, I reckon.
Regardless, here are some Pokémon I've loved...
Fair enough. I've been having great success using Perish Song, then Whirlpool, then Protect/Rest and then switching out (you can forgo Protect for an attacking move, I choose not to), although maybe I've just been lucky. In that order, Whirlpool will always last until the Perish Count reaches zero.
Thanks everyone, I listened to what you've said and made the following changes:
Ferrothorn:
I dropped Spikes and Power Whip in exchange for Leech Seed and Protect, and changed Rocky Helmet for Leftovers. Were these good moves? I really miss Spikes, and it's a shame to drop the occasionally...
Thanks for the recommendation. In gen IV, I had Aura Sphere on it instead of Nasty Plot, but that wouldn't help with Starmie. I've found it to be much, much more effective with Nasty Plot anyway. Removing Thunder Wave would be viable though, so long as I had another Pokémon who could paralyse...
Hey there everyone, just registered. I've been following Pokémon for a while now, and have decided to get into competitive battling. I just downloaded Pokémon Online, and somewhat hastily threw together a team. Surprisingly enough, it seems to be working - I'm winning more than I'm losing -...
