You should still IV breen but not go for godlike. Such as if you use Swellow go for purely as high posible attack and speed and dont wry too much about the others. Its not that difficult you just have to put some time into it :>

When I traded over my Adamant heracross from emeral I got near to no adamant heras whilst breeding it with a random natured hera from Diamond. I finally got another female adamant ad put that instead and it was working much much more often.

only rason I use belly drum is because it immediately maxes attack rather than risking a few DD's in which you can die fairly easily. Smeargle is rather fragile. Generally passing just the belly drum to a fast poke who can agility themselves seems to work well too. Or a fast pokemon in general...
