TEAM IS GOING TO BE COMPLETELY OVERHAULED AS SOON AS I CAN! PLEASE DO NOT RATE THIS TEAM! WAIT TO RATE MY NEW ONE.

INTRODUCTION

Hey guys! I wanted to post my team on this RMT forum thread so I can show off my team and to see if any of you guys can tweak my team in any way, especially with the new upcoming Black and White 2 changes I want to make sure my team is updated to it's best potential. I have tested my team out significantly by pinning them against my other teams and battling some random players on the website. So far I haven't lost a competitive battle yet, but with the many changes with the introduction of BW2, my team might be in more trouble. So feel free to give as much criticism as you can, because I want this team to be at it's full potential. So here we go!

TEAM BUILDING PROCESS

461.gif

When ever I make a team, I always stress about finding a lead team member. As most of you know, a lead Pokemon can sometimes make or break your team, as they can set the course of the battle to be a good or a bad start. Having a bad start can start a chain reaction which can quickly lead to the demise of a battle. Since my team doesn't really have a "theme" so to speak, like a Rain Dance, Sunny Day, or Baton Sweep team, the lead was much harder to choose from due to the large plethora of leads and suicide leads. I chose Weavile because of his astounding Attack and Speed combo and his nice type coveraging moves. He also has Fake Out, which is a very good move to have to take out other Focus Sash leads.

After choosing a lead, I wanted to think of a team member that could handle more than one situations without having to switch in and out due to a choice item. AKA a Mixed Attacker. Mixed Attackers can be another hard decision, at least for me due to the several requirements they must meet in order to be able to mixed attack. They of course need to have decent Attack and SpA while being somewhat bulky, OR have a decently high speed stat. While looking through many mixed attackers that didn't seem to make the cut for a good OU Mixed Attacker, I thought to myself.... Hey my favorite Pokemon has a good SpA and decent Attack with a great Speed stat, so why not Sceptile? Nice type coverage, quick and unpredictable, Sceptile found his way on my team.

By this time I already noticed a big problem: Bulky Fire Types. I needed a team member who was not only bulky, but could also carry on the duty of getting rid of these bulky sons of guns. What's my answer? The big blue swamp tank himself, Swampert. Already sporting an above average Attack stat for a tank, and a great type coverage against not only Fire, but Electric and Rock types too, Swampert fit into my team like the long last puzzle piece that you find under your couch. Although Grass types are a major problem to him, I already had two team members that could take out Grass types if they needed too.

My team was starting to become a great team, and I could already smell victory. However, I had two frail Speedsters and one Tank that could attack and support. What am I missing? Power. Pure Power. I needed someone that could not only take the hits, but successfully set up a sweep and provide great type coverage. The answer was simple: The almighty Dragonite. This classic fellow has been around since Day 1, and has been somewhat shoved aside due to the many faster Dragons such as Salamence who can set up a sweep more quickly and kill just as fast. However, what they miss out on is the fact of how much natural bulk Dragonite has compared to other Dragon Sweepers such as Salamence or Haxorus. Overlooked, and unexpected is the key with him.

Alright, so now I have a physical sweeper, but what happens when I run into a team that is all physical bulk? My team would be screwed. Yet again I needed a team member that could deliver hard SpA hits, and must be able to do it continuously. Just then, I looked down at my Eeevee who had a 31 Speed and SpA IV. After looking through some of the Eevee evolutions, I found that Jolteon not only had above average SpA, but he was also blistering fast. He had plenty of type coveraging moves to choose from, and when combined with Choice Specs, could deliver low, high, and middle blows from every direction.

This is it, my last team member. The home stretch. My last chance to iron out any wrinkles I forgot to remove with my other five team members. As I was sitting there I thought of two of the most annoying Pokemon to date, Ferrothorn and Skarmory. Both can set up layers of Spikes, and Ferrothorn can also leech seed to death. Then, it hit me, I NEED A RAPID SPINNER! I started to Brain Storm, Foretress? Nah to cliche and predictable. I want somebody who can Rapid Spin and attack. Then, I was hit again, Hitmontop! He can Rapid Spin, provide some support, and attack! I had yet to have any fighting types that could get rid of Ice and Normal type threats, so Hitmontop was perfect for the job! Finally my team is complete!

IN DEPTH LOOK

weavile_by_axlrosie-d4894yf.png

Weavile (Icy Chill) (M) @ Focus Sash
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Hasty Nature (+Spe, -Def)
-Fake Out
-Ice Punch
-Aerial Ace/Brick Break
-Night Slash
Ahhh Weavile. My first team member, and my first Pokemon that is sent out on the battlefield. His main goal is to do the most damage as possible before having to switch back in or to faint. He isn't considered as much as a suicide lead as a lead such as Aerodactyl perhaps, but due to him being quite frail he can sometimes be defeated before switching in. Weavile in my opinion, is one of the best at taking out leads because of Fake Out. This move has saved his butt countless of times, and makes Weavile a better lead then Aerodactyl. I have taken down many Aerodactyl leads by using Fake Out to get rid of his sash, taking an Earthquake due to my sash, then OHKO it with a STAB Ice Punch. His third moveset was awfully tricky, because I could either have type coverage against fighting and bug types, or with Brick Break I can take down other Weavile leads and walls such as Chansey or Blissy. I decided on Aerial Ace, due to Hitmontop being able to take out Dark and Normal types with ease. Night Slash is essential, because nothing beats a Max Attack Weavile with a STAB Night Slash combined with a high crit ratio. Don't mess with the Chill.

Sceptile_by_Xous54.png

Sceptile (Sceptosaur) (M) @ Life Orb
EVs: 252 Atk / 80 SpA / 176 Spe
Hasty Nature (+Spe, -Def)
-Leaf Storm
-Rock Slide
-Leaf Blade
-Low Kick
Sceptile is and always will be my favorite Pokemon. Why? Well one he looks like a badass dinosaur mixed with Van Helsing, and secondly he can play almost any role on a team. He can Subseed, Special Sweep, Swords Dance Sweep, and be a killer mixed attacker. My Sceptile, just happens to be a Mixed Attacker. I always loved this kind of Sceptile because it shows his true potential in how well rounded he is. Leaf Storm shows just how powerful his Life Orbed SpA moves can be, and is used to literally mow down Swamperts and Quagsires. It's also very good taking down defensive heavy Rock and Ground types like Rhyperior, as they have low SpD. Rock Slide is amazing in dealing with pesky flying types such as Staraptor, and also for squashing bug types like Volcorona who are x4 weak to it. Leaf Blade is used for Water, Ground, and Rock types with high SpD and low Def. The high crit ratio comes in a lot of handy. His last move Low Kick is to drop kick heavy Steel types such as a 2HKO on Registeel and Steelix. Low Kick was a hard choice to make over X-scissor, but I have many things to counter what X-scissor covers, so it isn't needed. Sceptile has one more battles then any other of my Pokemon. Watch out for him, he'll shoot you down.

SwampertXousFINALB.png

Swampert (Swamped) (M) @ Leftovers
EVs: 248 HP / 216 Def / 44 SpD
Relaxed Nature (+Def, -Spe)
-Stealth Rock
-Earthquake
-Waterfall
-Roar
Another Pokemon on my team that has saved my butt many times is this tank right here. I have left many of my opponents literally swamped due to the sheer confusion that this Swampert brings. Looking at his move set, you would think he is more of a STAB attacker than anything else, but that's not how Swamped roles. He dishes out some mighty fine STAB attacks while setting up Stealth Rocks and Roaring to have the opponent take damage. Swampert may be slow, but his bulk is very impressive, and can take almost any powerful hit 3 times as long as it isn't a grass attack. Anything else is toast. Earthquake is an absolute MUST on any Swampert for a powerful STAB to take down Steel, Fire, Electric, and Rock Pokemon. Metagross pisses his metal pants, Arcanine whimpers in the corner, and Tyranitars fall to their knees. Waterfall provides similar STAB type coverage, but is most handy on flying fire types such as Moltres and Ground types like Mamoswine. Good luck players, because unless you have a Grass type, your already drowning.

Dragonite_Normal_Version_by_Xous54.png

Dragonite (Lancelot) (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Multiscale
EVs: 252 HP / 44 Atk / 212 Spe
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SpA)
-Dragon Dance
-Dragon Claw
-Roost/Thunder Wave
-Fire Punch
It's a not a wonder why Dragonite wasn't killed out by all the Knights and Warriors. How can you beat something something that's not only bulky, but can also pack a walloping punch? This Dragonite is a Bulky Offensive Nite, and focuses more on a bulky setup then just starting off strong and losing health more quickly. Dragon Dance is of course the most important move on my Dragonite. As soon as he is setup, he only really needs to Dance once, and then can begin is almighty sweepage. With just one Dragon Dance he can outspeed a Modest Choice Scarfed Politoad, and outspeed a scarfed Landorlus after two. Of course with the Dragon Dance you need a STAB dragon attack to go with it! Dragon Claw is to take out other Dragon types such as Salamence or Haxorus, that is if he can set up before they enter. The choice of Roost or Thunder Wave was a challenge, as my team does not have many crippling moves, but also Dragonite needs extra health to fully take advantage of his sweep. T Wave might be replacing Roost if it works better after some testing. The final slot is Fire Punch to take out Ice types like Frosslass and Grass types like Celebi.

JolteonXousFINAL.png

Jolteon (Gonzalez) (M) @ Choice Specs
Trait: Volt Absorb
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature (+Spe, -Atk)
-Thunderbolt
-Shadow Ball
-Signal Beam
-Volt Switch
Any one ever owned one of those powerful Swiffer Vacuum cleaners? If you haven't Gonzalez the Jolteon is the perfect example of one. It will sweep your team so fast you wont even know what hit you if your not prepared. If your team is made up of only Water and Flying types, you might as well right your own death warrant. If your team is well rounded, then he's a hit and run speed demon. This 394 speed/319 SpecA Choice Spec Jolteon is no laughing matter just because of it puny defensive stat. Thunderbolt will destroy anything that has a weakness to it and horribly damaging members that don't resist it. You can't mess with a STAB Thunderbolt Choice Spec, it's just dumb if you do. Shadow Ball surprises Ghost and Psychic types such as Gengar and Victini, and Signal Beam also provides nice coverage to Grass and Dark types. Volt Switch is a great move to scout in an out of a battle when things are looking to good. It's saved him countless of times. You better take him out quickly, because even one hit can't brutally damage your teams health. Let's just hope you have something that has more than 394 Speed.

hitmontop.jpg

Hitmontop (Yahtzee) (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Intimidate
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 Def
Impish Nature (+Def, -SpA)
-Rapid Spin
-Toxic
-Close Combat
-Sucker Punch/Stone Edge
This is a classic Rapid Spinning Top with a slight twist. The Rapid Spin is of course used to get rid of Spikes, Stealth Rock, and Leech Seed from Ferrothorns and Foretresses. Since most Hitmontops are mostly used to just spin the hazards away, so people might not expect a life threatening Toxic which can be a great crippling move on bulkier Pokemon. Close Combat is an essential STAB move on Yahtzee, as it allows him to eliminate SpD walls with ease. Now, one of the hardest choices on the team was whether to give Hitmontop Sucker Punch or Stone Edge. Sucker Punch is very valuable as it allows Hitmontop to rid of frail Psychic types with ease. However, Stone Edge is a much more powerful move which covers flying, fire, and electric types. My choice was Sucker Punch, because not only does this move eliminate his slow speed stat, it also gets rid of one of his biggest weaknesses. Although Stone Edge gets rid of Flying types, many of my other members can also take care of Flying unlike Psychic, so Sucker Punch is the better choice. All in all, this Hitmontop relies on tanking and spinning hazards away, while providing Normal, Ghost, Dark, Ice and Psychic type coverage. Just to warn you, you wont be the one screaming Yahtzee when Hitmontop is here to thwart your plans.

Thanks guys for sticking around and reading. Please don't forget to leave any compliments or critiquing comments. Thanks!

Bump. Come on guys is there any thing you can say about this team?

If you're going to use any Weavile set in OU, it should pretty much always be this one:

Weavile @ Life Orb
Trait: Pressure
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SDef / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature
- Ice Shard
- Pursuit
- Low Kick
- Night Slash / Ice Punch

This set is the only reason you should even consider using Weavile over Mamoswine on any OU team: Access to Pursuit. Besides, once 4th gen died, Lead Weavile died with it. You just can't have a designated lead anymore.

Also: Why are you not using Hidden Power Ice on Jolteon? Signal Beam is terrible. It's good for Celebi, end of discussion. Hidden Power Ice, on the other hand, is good for: Any Ground-type (especially Gliscor), Dragonite, Salamence, Breloom, still good against Celebi, and the list goes on. There's just no reason to use Signal Beam.

Some other things, I'm getting sick of writing things out:

- You have absolutely no way of handling Terrakion, who commonly carries Choice Scarf. With Swampert having no recovery, good luck. You should just swap Sceptile for a Technician Breloom, who is released now. Best Terrakion check in the game.
- Swampert is not good in OU at all. You need a better Stealth Rock user. Good users of Stealth Rock include: Ferrothorn, Blissey, Tyranitar (who you shouldn't be using anyway, you don't need sand support), and Jirachi. Out of those, I think Jirachi would be the best fit on your team, as it can also use Wish to support your team (Blissey can too, but it's hard to fit Wish and Stealth Rock on the same set)
- If you're going to spin with Hitmontop instead of something better like, I dunno, Starmie, you absolutely need to use Foresight. Use that over Toxic if you wanna keep Hitmontop.

That's all I have for now.

1. I will change Weavile, but even with the 5th generation changes I have been quite successful with him.

2. The reason I don't have Hidden Power Ice on Jolteon is because he has all 31 IVs, which I'm pretty sure is Hidden Power Dark. I would very like to have HP ice, but changing his IVs to match is a challenge. I have however found a cheat code online to change you Pokemon's IVs. Although I don't like to cheat, I guess it's not THAT big of a deal, since I'm actually having to lower it's IV instead of raise them :p.

3. Sceptile I have been planning on changing, he is quite risky to use. Breloom is a great replacement as he gives Fighting and Grass STAB coverage with SubSpore.

4.Hitmontop might be replaced. Starmie is good, but frail. He does however cover Fire types with which if I replace Swampert with Jirachi, will definitly need.

The teammates that are here to stay are:

1.Weavile (With Changes)
2.Dragonite
3.Jolteon (HP Ice?)

Thanks dude. It's amazing how much my team has changed because of the 5th gen.

Well, for Jolteon, I understand breeding a whole new Pokemon for the IVs for HP Ice may be difficult. If you want to use HP Ice, you may end up having to check the Hidden Power with whoever that guy is who can tell you what your Pokemon's Hidden Power is, but checking its actual IVs and the power of the Hidden Power is a whole different story. If you have any leftover Eevees from breeding, one of them may have IVs needed for Hidden Power Ice with a base power of 70.

Swampert's a tricky one though. When it comes to Water/Ground types, Gastrodon is ideally the better choice, although it doesn't get Stealth Rock last time I checked (maybe I didn't check all the move tutors). Swampert isn't particularly good without Wish support, so a Stealth Rock user that can somehow heal HP better I think would do better. Ideally Jirachi immediately comes to mind as it can also paraflinch and provide your team Wish support, but I understand if you can't obtain it. Plus, having a team with no Steel-types could end up being really bad if you go up against something like CB Haxorus. You have nothing to tank an Outrage from one of those (not even Hitmontop's doing well even taking Intimidate into account) and Mold Breaker negates Multiscale, so your best bet is to fodder something and try to go for the kill with Weavile. However, Weavile's defenses are not particularly good, so you can't always depend on it, and even then I'm not sure how much Ice Punch is doing. So, having a Steel-type somewhere to tank Outrages is going to be very helpful in the long run, so I suggested Jirachi for that reason. However, if you can't use it, Metagross should work as well.

@LucaroarkZ Jirachi I might be able to get my hands on one, if not I will stick with Metagross. Here's my new team so far:

1. Weavile
2. Starmie
3. Breloom
4. Jirachi (Stealth Rock and Wish support)
5. Dragonite
6. Jolteon (HP Ice included)

Thanks so much for the help dude. I'll leave a link to the new team when I finish making a thread and you can leave your final thoughts there. Thanks again!
