I have played Pokemon since forever, but I have been trying to play competitively for about a month. I am not trying to be the best, just proficient. I play many things very advanced and there is always someway to play where it gets beginners into it, yet allows you to compete with room to grow. I may be asking to much but I just want to use a team of mostly Pokemon I like and is decent. After much experimentation I came to this Hyper Offensive team.

Gengar @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Levitate
Nature:Timid
EVS: Spe:252/SpA:252/HP:4
Moves:
-Shadow Ball
-Sludge Bomb
-Focus Blast
-Thunderbolt

My all time absolute favorite Pokemon, Gengar; I have him as a fast sweeper. His main purpose is to just out speed things with a lot of fire power. He also majorly covers fairies.

Gardevoir @ Lum Berry?
Ability: Trace
Nature: Calm
EVS:SpD:252/HP:252/SpA:4
Moves:
-Will-O-Wisp
-Moon Blast
-Wish
-Protect

A special wall used to back my sweepers. With wow and wish she can provide support for my team, while also covering for dragons and darks.

Absol @ Absolite
Ability: Magic Bounce
Nature: Hasty
EVS: Spe:252/Atk:252/SpA:4
Moves:
-Fire Blast
-Sucker Punch
-Play Rough
-Swords Dance

My poor man's Espeon and lead. Maybe not being as universally useful as Espeon but works for my team without having to go through all the trouble of getting an Espeon. Sucker punch also really helps with priority moves that could potentially sweep my team.

Milotic @ Leftovers
Ability:Marvel Scale
Nature: Relaxed
EVS:HP:252/Def:252/Atk:4
Moves:
-Scald
-Ice Beam
-Recover
-Dragon Tail

Milotic a physical wall to cover for what Gardevoir can't. Also my only water attacker but can also hit some special things like Gliscor and dragons with ice beam. Dragon tail is there, just in case I mess up and let something set up on me.

Volcarona @ Life Orb
Ability:Flame Body
Nature:Modest
EVS:Spe:252/SpA:252/HP:4
Moves:
-Bug Buzz
-Fiery Dance
-Giga Drain
-Quiver Dance

Volcarona another special sweeper, not the most common but most assuredly deadly. If I can find room to set up a quiver dance with life orb I can sweep an entire team. Which I can typically can because he covers my absol and gardevoir. Even with the life orb, the damage doesn't even matter because once they bring out their water type, giga drain kills them and almost completely rejuvenates him.

Haxorus Lum Berry
Ability: Mold Breaker
Nature: Adamant
EVS:Spe:220/AtK:252/HP:36
Moves:
-Outrage
-Dragon Dance
-Earthquake
-Poison Jab

Lastly Haxorus, a physical sweeper. Like Volcarona with a setup, he can easily end a game. destroys physical walls that could heavily hinder my overly special attacking team like Blissey (I seem to prefer special attackers).

Obviously not the most common OU team, but I'm not trying to be the international champion. I have experimented with several teams and played numerous matches on showdown. I'd say I win about 65-70% of my matches with this team. Most of the time my loses are due to lack of knowledge, miss play, or just plain outplayed but not because of some missing link in the team. My biggest problem are sweepers that have receive mostly neutral or resistant damage and come back and kill me like Heatran or Joltean. However my team can handle them if I just play smart. I feel my team is just more unforgiving than ineffective. Thank you for any help you can give.

Hi. You seem to have a nice set up to your team and have seen some success with it, but I feel there are a few ways it could be better.

Easiest things to fix first, Gengar could probably be more impactful to crippling the enemy team if he had trick over thunderbolt. Tricking away a choice scarf onto the right enemy at the right time can open up Gengar to use his great coverage from shadow ball, focus blast, and sludge bomb to great effect once everything he needs to outspeed with choice scarf is out of the way.

Gardevoir as a special tank seems to me to be subpar with your current build. There are other pokemon who can special tank and provide better wish and will-o-wisp support than an unboosted gardevoir. And your lum berry already begins to confirm what you suspect - that Gardevoir doesn't like being statused. Magic Guard Clefable can still stop enemy dragons and provide similar support while being immune to fire and toxic, while unaware Clefable can ignore enemy calm mind boosts and serve as a special wall who can fight back regardless of enemy potential.

Milotic with dragon tail is not bad, but since you lack any form of hazards, dragon tail cannot be used to its full effect. And it cannot prevent substitute sweepers from setting up on you, though it does get rid of the usual dragon dance and swords dance sweepers you would expect as a physical tank.

I am not sold on Mega Absol as a lead and a sweeper at the same time. To me, it seems like trying to do too much, and you already have Haxorus as a very powerful set-up sweeper. Mega Absol could either be more dedicated to the lead role, or you may well just go for Espeon.

Personally, I think you may have too many special attackers as both your tanky ones do special attacks and one of your physical attackers is a lead and probably will take some hits. I also note that you might have a problem with Talonflame - he can hit your whole team with priority Brave Bird and suffer no consequences except from milotic scald...if milotic survives.

Thank you for the in depth response. After reading your response would replacing Absol with Tyranitar be a good idea, because you said I need more physical damage, hazards for Milotic, Talonflame counter, and a better lead. He would also provide the same coverage that Absol did and Gengar can spin block. I was thinking something like

Tyranitar @ ?
Nature:?
Ability: Sand Stream
EVs: ?
Moves:
-Crunch
-Pursuit
-Stealth Rocks
-Stone Edge

For the other issues how would I use trick. Just guessing, I would assume you would wait to bring gengar in unless he is already out, for a resistant or immune move than trick so they are trapped to only one move at a time? I just don't understand how you trick and gengar doesn't die in this situation? Regarding Blissey, I know she is really really good but gardevoir was there as a kind of pseudo-replacement. I just don't like Blissey, I looked all over online for a replacement and came up short; another Pokemon gameplay-wise I love is Smeargle but I refuse to use him. If it comes done to it, I can have one Pokemon that i'm not the biggest fan of on my team. I just was trying to make a team on showdown that I could easily replicate in my pokemon x that I like. That is why I was avoiding a perfect Espeon (I was using Absol because his is easier to acquire and I think looks cooler)and hidden power moves because they are beyond me.

Gengar trick is used to shut down enemy threats before they happen, threats being anything that will give your team a hard time that wants to switch moves, be it a stall that can outstall your whole team or a set up sweeper. Basically, bring gengar in either after one of your Pokemon dies or on a predicted enemy move where they're not attacking, and trick them your choice scarf. They are now neutered.

Tyranitar I don't think would be the best fit for your team, as none of your team has any sort of synergy with sand and would end up only being hurt by it. And you don't need a second weakness to fighting type with lucario running rampant. Your team irks me in a small way because it's made up of good pokemon, but they don't seem to support each other in a large way. If I were you, I'd do more research into getting a good lead, that suits a hyperoffensive playstyle, maybe aerodactyl, who can also threaten talonflame, put down hazards, and give you the physical damage you need.

Hello.
Your descriptions are too short to fit the RMT rules requirements.
I encourage you to PM me an updated version of this team with beefed up descriptions, and since you're new, to join the Mentor Program. I'll be unlocking this thread after that.

Have a nice day.
