Since Japan are having a Kanto Pokemon only cup on Wi-Fi, I've decided to get a team together in case they bring it over. Now, this is my first time making a 5th Gen team so I'm not that experienced with this, so be gentle :L If you think I should make any changes, please let me know. I'm not sure on one of my team members.
Aerodactyl @Focus Sash
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 4 HP/252 Atk/252 Spe
Jolly Nature (+Spe/-SpAtk)
~Stealth Rock
~Stone Edge
~Earthquake
~Taunt
Ripped straight from one of my 4th Gen teams, this guy's here solely as a suicide lead. Looking at the Pokemon in 1st Gen, one of the biggest threats will be Dragonite, so Stealth Rocks will get rid of Multiscale, with the added bonus of halving Moltres, Articuno and Charizard's health. As one of the fastest Pokemon in general, I couldn't think of a better lead than good ol' Aero.
Ninetales @Leftovers
Ability: Drought
EVs: 4 HP/252 SpAtk/252 Spe
Modest Nature (+SpAtk/-Atk)
~Fire Blast
~Hidden Power Ice
~Solarbeam
~Will-O-Wisp
And here we have infinite sun. Moveset is pretty self-explanatory, Fire Blast for STAB, HP Ice to take out any Dragonites, Solarbeam for coverage and Will-O-Wisp to cripple any physical attackers or limit Chansey's recovery. The main use though is for the infinite sun, and since Tyranitar and Hippowdon won't be around I have no need to carry Sunny Day to get rid of Sandstorm. I'm not sure whether I should use Leftovers or Life Orb here.
Victreebel @Life Orb
Ability: Chlorophyll
EVs: 4 HP/252 SpAtk/252 Spe
Modest Nature (+SpAtk/-Atk)
~Growth
~Solarbeam
~Weather Ball
~HP Ice
I was stuck between Victreebel and Venusaur for my sun sweeper, but decided on Victreebel for Weather Ball. I decided to forego Sludge Bomb since the only three Pokemon weak to it in 1st Gen can all be taken out by Weather Ball. HP Ice is there for Pokemon like Zapdos and Dragonite, who otherwise would wall the set completely. Victreebel will be providing most of the damage for this team.
Chansey @Eviolite
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 252 HP/252 Def/4 Spe
Bold Nature (+Def/-Atk)
~Wish
~Protect
~Seismic Toss
~Toxic
There to take hits. Not really much else to be said about Chansey. Everyone knows how she works. Wish and Protect for healing, Toxic stalling, and to pass healing to other team members. Seismic Toss for damage. She should be able to hold any special attacker and at least manage non-fighting physical attackers.
Dragonite @Lum Berry
Ability: Multiscale
EVs: 252 Atk/4 SpDef/252 Spe
Jolly Nature (+Spe/-SpAtk)
~Dragon Dance
~Outrage
~Fire Punch
~Earthquake
Simple DD sweeper. Multiscale allows it to take pretty much any hit, allowing it to set up one DD. Outrage for STAB, Fire Punch for coverage, plus it gets boosted in the sun, and EQ to round off the coverage. I expect Dragonite to be a huge powerhouse in a 1st Gen only tournament, so having the Jolly nature will let me outspeed any Adamant Dragonites.
Golduck @Life Orb
Ability: Cloud Nine
EVs: 4 HP/252 SpAtk/252 Spe
Timid Nature (+SpAtk/-Atk)
~Hydro Pump
~Ice Beam
~Hidden Power Electric
~Psychic
Now I wasn't sure about this, but I think it could work as a counter to Fire types. Cloud Nine will neutralise the sun which will weaken any Fire type moves, and limit using of Solarbeam. Hydro Pump for pure damage, Ice Beam for Grass types and Dragonite, HP Electric for opposing Water types (Electric over Grass for Gyarados) and Psychic for Poison and Fighting types. Again, not too sure about this, since Golduck isn't exactly great, but I think it could fill a niche.
And there you go. Again, this is the first time I've made a 5th Gen team, and I happened to pick a niche tournament. Remember that I'll only be battling 1st Gen Pokemon as well.
Thanks in advance :)
