Urshifu-Rapid-Strike @ Choice Band
Ability: Unseen Fist
EVs: 252 HP / 104 Atk / 32 Def / 120 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Surging Strikes
- Close Combat
- Low Kick
- Iron Head / Ice Spinner

The water bear strikes 1v1! Thanks to its Choice Band and unique typing, Urshifu-R can find a spot as a powerful, bulky attacker that still helps against slower and bulkier threats such as Ursaluna, Diancie, and Volcanion, with Surging Strikes helping it ignore Intimidate from Landorus-T, Feather Dance from Espathra, and Sturdy from Donphan. While Close Combat usually does more damage, Low Kick is used for its lack of drawback and helps with surviving attacks from Volcanion and Roaring Moon. Iron Head is useful against Alolan Ninetales, as its Moonblast cannot KO Urshifu-R and Unseen Fist ignores Protect, denying it any chance to use Disable. Ice Spinner is also a helpful alternative that lets it beat Dragon-types such as Dragapult and Garchomp. The EV investment lets it survive Outrage from Choice Band Haxorus and Hyper Beam from Choice Specs Volcanion. Urshifu-R tends to struggle against Fairy- and Grass-type Pokemon like Iron Valiant, Whimsicott, and Ogerpon-W. Therefore, Poison-types like Sneasler and Pecharunt work as great partners for it.

you wanna qc this one Mentality?
also pinging glitched bellchime just in case

small extra: i wanted to include a point about team preview and how volcanion or prim being a partner can disguise the urshifu's typing but i thought that'd be way too convoluted for a spotlight and i'm probably correct about that

edit i'm not including in spotlight: glitched helped out with a few examples, not actually stamped but yeah

The water bear strikes 1v1! Thanks to its Choice Band and unique typing, Urshifu-R can find a spot as a powerful, bulky attacker that still helps against the slower and bulkier threats such as Ursaluna, Diancie, and Hisuian Goodra (Not entirely consistent with this set, we can mention Skeledirge or Volcanion instead), with Surging Strikes helping it ignore Intimidate from Landorus-T, Iron Defense from Corviknight (You can still loes to faster sets, esp those with brave bird. I think Espathra's feather dance/reflect might also serve as a good example since they dont run lumina crash much), and Sturdy from Donphan. While Close Combat usually does more damage, Low Kick is used for its lack of drawback and helps with surviving attacks from Volcanion and Roaring Moon. Iron Head is useful against Alolan Ninetales, as Moonblast cannot KO Urshifu-R and Unseen Fist ignores Protect, denying it any chance to use Disable. Ice Spinner is also a helpful alternative that can hit lets it beat Dragon-types such as Dragapult and Garchomp. The EV investments let it survive Outrage from Choice Band Haxorus and Hyper Beam from Choice Specs Volcanion. Urshifu-R likes having Fire-type Pokemon as partners, such as Volcarona and Volcanion, since these can deal with the Grass-types, like Serperior and Meowscarada (Volcarona loses to g-impact meow unless its chilan, and can lose to other grass types like offensive zarude or wellspring), that Urshifu-R can struggle with. Steel-types such as Scizor and Iron Crown help as well, as they can hit Fairy-type Pokemon like Sylveon and Iron Valiant.
(The biggest threats to Urshifu-R tend to be fairies, so might be worth mentioning them first. Poison types [Sneas, Pecha]might be a better mention since they beat grasses + fairies.)
(Agreed on the point that explaining preview ambiguity dynamics is too much for a spotlight)

1/1 on implement

Therefore, (AC) assume that you mean poison-types to deal with the fairy-types. if this is not true ignore this change Poison-types like Sneasler and Pecharunt work as great partners for it.
