Set Details
========
* Snorlax is a slow, bulky bruiser with access to one of the most powerful spread moves in the metagame: STAB-boosted Self-Destruct. Between its massive bulk and single weakness to Fighting, very few Pokemon can beat Snorlax one on one. However, Snorlax is held back by its low Speed, which makes it reliant on Trick Room or Thunder Wave support, and it is susceptible to status moves, Intimidate, and well-timed Protect usage.
* Frustration is Snorlax's main attacking move to make slow, steady progress, and it's Snorlax's preferred single-target STAB move to thwart the rare Transform Smeargle.
* Self-Destruct provides enormous spread damage, and Earthquake rounds out Snorlax's coverage, letting it hit Rock- and Steel-types that resist its Normal-type STAB moves. Fire Punch is an alternative coverage move that hits threats such as Metagross, Bronzong, Shedinja, and Scizor. Protect is mandatory to let Snorlax avoid double targeting or allow its ally to set Trick Room.
* Sitrus Berry is Snorlax's preferred item, giving it burst healing and notably preventing Life Orb Latios from achieving a 2HKO on it with Draco Meteor. Custap Berry is an alternative, letting Snorlax catch foes off-guard with an unexpected priority Self-Destruct.
* The defensive investment allows Snorlax to survive Close Combat from Infernape, two Meteor Mashs from Adamant Metagross, two Earthquakes from Adamant Life Orb Rhyperior, and three Thunderbolts from Modest Zapdos. The Attack investment grants Snorlax the ability to 3HKO most Cresselia and 2HKO bulky Zapdos with Frustration. The Speed investment lets Snorlax outspeed paralyzed Choice Scarf Smeargle.
Teambuilding
=========
* Snorlax works well on both bulky goodstuff and hard Trick Room teams. As such, Cresselia is one of its best partners. Cresselia provides Snorlax Trick Room or Thunder Wave support and can beat Fighting-types, while Snorlax can patch up its limited damage output and threaten Steel-types.
* Snorlax appreciates Ground-immune allies so that it can freely use Earthquake. Zapdos, Bronzong, Latios, and Salamence all fit the bill, with each providing unique upsides. While Zapdos and Bronzong provide speed control in Thunder Wave and Trick Room, respectively, Latios and Salamence handily beat Infernape. Salamence has the added benefit of Intimidate support to patch up Snorlax's low Defense.
* Snorlax struggles against a handful of common threats. It often can't hit Gengar due to Gengar's Normal and Ground immunities. It also trades damage poorly against Metagross and Rhyperior.
* Aside from direct damage output, Snorlax is susceptible to status moves such as Cresselia's Thunder Wave, Gengar's Will-O-Wisp, and Smeargle's Dark Void. Repeated triggers of Intimidate from Gyarados and Salamence greatly hamper Snorlax's damage output as well. Finally, Snorlax runs the risk of using Self-Destruct against a foe's Protect, which wastes the move and knocks itself out.
