Overview
########
  • Both Intimidate and Lightningrod are fantastic abilities
  • Blistering Speed tier of 135
  • Good birdspam check
  • Great partner to Landorus-Therain
  • 70 / 80 / 80 bulk is not fantastic
  • No reliable recovery
  • Predictable
  • Lower damage output than most Megas
  • Faces competition with Raikou

Special Attacker
########
name: Special Attacker
move 1: Thunderbolt / Volt Switch
move 2: Flamethrower / Overheat
move 3: Hidden Power Ice / Snarl / Volt Switch
move 4: Protect
ability: Lightningrod
item: Manectite
evs: 252 SpA / 252 Spe / 4 Def
nature: Timid / Modest

Moves
========

  • Thunderbolt is the most reliable STAB move
  • Volt Switch is to gain momentum
  • Flamethrower is a reliable way to deal with Pokemon like Metagross
  • Overheat lowers Special Attack, but guarantees the KO on Heracross and Ferrothorn
  • Hidden Power Ice to deal with Landorus and Garchomp
  • Snarl can lower the Special Attack of both of the opposing Pokemon
  • Protect to gain a safe Mega Evolving turn

Set Details
========

  • A Timid nature maximizes Manectric's speed
  • 252 Special Attack EVs to maximize Special Attack
  • Manectite is the only item to run
  • Modest can be used for extra firepower, but leaves you outsped by positive-natured base 120 Speed Pokemon and above

Usage Tips
========

  • Works amazingly as a hit-and-run Pokemon early and mid game
  • You can bring it in simply for Intimidate and then Volt Switch out
  • Be careful of switching in Man since it gets worn down easily
  • Garchomp and Landorus needs a small amount of prior damage before they are KOed with HP Ice

Team Options
========

  • Landorus-Therain is a great teammate since it has both Intimidate and U-Turn and it is immune to Ground
  • Although hard to pull off in VGC, Pokemon with Defog or Rapid Spin help since Manectric hates entry hazards
  • Manectric has issues with Special Walls like Cresselia and Chansey, so use a Pokemon that can beat both of them, like Aegislash or Bisharp

Other Options
########

  • Manectric has a shallow movepool, so it doesn't have too many options.
  • HP Grass is a way to hit Quagsire and Gastrodon, although those two are very rare and HP Ice is better in most situations. It also hits Swampert, however, which is a bit more common.
  • Discharge can be used to hit both of the opponents Pokemon and can Paralyze more often, but it hits your teammate as well, and is a weaker move.

Checks & Counters
########

**Tyranitar**

**Special Walls**

imo passive damage isn't that prominent on VGC as of it. Mega Manectric is so frail that i don't think passive damage really threatens it as almost any kind of offensive mon OHKO or 2HKO manectric. Also, i'd rather put Bisharp as a check of Mega Manectric as it can Sucker Punch and because it has Defiant it can use Snarl/Intimidate to their own advantage. HP grass is definitely an option, as it hits Gastrodon and Swampert, both being counters of Mega Manectric. Also, mention Lightning Rod users like Raichu or even Manectric itself as check of Mega Manectric.
I'm not of the QC staff, but i reccomend you to do these changes if you can (and obviously if a QC user agree with these).

Hey Recreant, I'm not QC and I'm not even sure if i can recommend changes but here goes nothing lol. Sorry if i'm not suppose to do this BTW :P
This is just me but I think you should take out "faces competition with Raikou" cause Mega Mane is p much Raikou but better imo
I'd also add snarl to other options cause losing the coverage with HP ice makes Mega Mane kinda ehhh also in the move description for Volt Switch, I would add that it lets you intimidate shuffle and reset stats from Overheat if you choose to run it, and on flamethrower i would just put it as a reliable way to handle steel types in general disregarding heatran that is
For other options, i would add that Thunder is a nice option on rain teams
I would take out the rapid spin/defog mention in Team Options cause 99% of the time you won't see hazards at all considering the games are 4v4 doubles format so they go by p fast also take out chansey from the special walls mention cause you won't see that thing that much tbh
I'd give a special mention to rotom heat/maybe heatran in checks and counters as well

EDIT: also for the HP grass mention, i'd take out quagsire cause you won't be seeing that at all most of the time and add in Swampert both regular and mega
I would also mention in Overheat that it has a 43% chance of OHKOing Mega Metagross instead of heracross (since heracross isn't too common tbh)

Again, not QC and feel free to disregard this but yeah hope i helped :)
