VGC 2015 VGC 2015 Mega Salamence Redirection Team

Mishimono

mish mish
is a Top Tiering Contributoris a Past SCL Champion
A team that has been working very well for me but feels like it has a few problems like 3 fighting weaknesses and some okay coverage hopefully you guys can help make this team amazing. Also I really like Azumarill, Salamence Amoonguss. The rest could be changed. Movesets and Evs can be suggested on previous pokes.

Azumarill @ Sitrus Berry
Ability: Huge Power
EVS: 244 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
-Belly Drum
-Aqua Jet
-Play Rough
-Protect

Azumarill is just awesome once setup it KOs everything in it's path. Belly Drum allows Azumarill to get setup and sweep. Aqua Jet is spammable as it does so much damage. Play Rough is good for Dragons as they resist Aqua Jet. It also does lots of damage to Virizion. (Virizion can KO Azumarill though) Protect is a staple move in VGC so ya. Max HP also Azumarill to survive Terrakion Rock Slide and KO with Aqua Jet. 12 Spe is just for other no Speed Azumarills.

Salamence @ Salamencite
Ability: Intimidate-Aerilate
EVS: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
-Double Edge
-Roost
-Dragon Dance
-Protect

Salamence another setup and sweep Pokemon. Double Edge hits like a truck thanks to Aerilate and STAB. It OHKOs max HP, max Def Amoonguss as well as KOing max HP Sylveon. Roost allows you to heal up all that recoil and remove a weakness for a turn. Dragon Dance with redirection is easy to setup and allows Salamence to KO 28 HP Suicune. Protect allows safe mega evolution and Protection. The EVS are for max attack and speed.

Amoonguss @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Regenerator
EVS: 252 HP / 212 Def / 44 SpDef
Relaxed Nature
-Giga Drain
-Spore
-Rage Powder
-Protect

Amoonguss provides safe setup for Azumarill and Salamence. Giga Drain is a STAB attack that 2HKOs Azumarill after Belly Drum while it struggles against you. Spore is a 100% accurate sleep move to help the team setup. Rage Powder is amazing as it redirects attacks away from Azumarill and Salamence while they may take recoil. Protect saves you from a double target as Amoonguss gets super annoying. The EVS let you survive Jolly Metagross Zen Headbutt as well as still surviving 2 Politoed Ice Beams.

Heatran @ Shuca Berry
Ability: Flash Fire
EVS: 176 HP / 252 SpAtk / 80 Spe
Modest Nature
-Heat Wave
-Flash Cannon
-Earth Power
-Protect

Heatran is a great Sylveon counter as well as hitting other Fairy and Steel types. Heat Wave is a great spread move for wrecking everything. It wrecks Amoonguss and Metagross 2HKOing both of them. Flash Cannon is great for hitting Sylveon as well as other Fairies like 2HKOing Clefable. Earth Power helps hit other Fire types and do lots of damage to Aegislash expecting a Heat Wave. Protect will save you from a Ground type attack to save Shuca Berry.

Terrakion @ Lum Berry
Ability: Justified
EVS: 4 HP / 252 HP / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
-Rock Slide
-Close Combat
-Quick Guard
-Protect

Terrakion is a great lead Pokemon to KO everything in it's path as well as checking Kang. Rock Slide is to check Talonflame and Charizard. Terrakion can take a Brave Bird and KO with Rock Slide on Talonflame as well as outspeed and KO Charizard. Close Combat OHKOs Kangaskhan as well as almost always KOing Heatran. Quick Guard saves you from Fake Out as well as Whimsicott Prankster and Azumarill's Aqua Jet. Protect will save from attacks and is a staple of VGC.

Weavile @ Focus Sash
Ability: Pressure
EVS: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
-Knock Off
-Icicle Crash
-Fake Out
-Low Kick

Weavile is kinda filler to chck Landorus and Cresselia who threaten my team. The problem is he doesn't provide speed control which this team needs. Knock Off hits Cresselia and Aegislash super hard and is a great STAB attack. Icicle Crash hits Landorus and Salamence KOing both of them. Fake Out allows another turn of setup and allows your opponent to get a free turn. Low Kick is the last move as it OHKOs Kangaskhan and hits Steel types for crazy damage.

That is team all help would be appreciated :)

It's nice to see you back yet again with another RMT. Now, i can definitely help you out with some details.

Azumarill: As usual, a great partner for Mence teams with redirection. Now, the EV spread for Azumarill isn't optimal. An EV spread of 196 HP / 252 Atk / 20 Def / 12 Sp.Def / 28 Spe is what i prefer over than max max (btw you literally have max speed max attack 244 HP and that's not really legit). The EV spread allows Azumarill to withstand Mega Salamence's Double-Edge and retaliate back with a Play Rough for a solid OHKO. HP stat hits 200, meaning that the Sitrus Berry will always activate after a Belly Drum.

Salamence: as the metagame evolved, people started noticing that DD Mega Salamence wasn't as useful as it was back in the start of the year, most likely because of the abuse of Speed Control (specially Icy Wind, Thunder Wave and Trick Room), Intimidate spam, Will O Wisp nullifying Mega Salamence and not offering any other good coverage option besides Earthquake (which isn't really reliable with Wide Guard Aegislash ignoring even +2 Salamence) and Fire Blast (a relatively weak coverage option). Because of that, i'd reccomend changing Salamence's moveset to Hyper Voice, Double Edge, Draco Meteor and Protect, with a Naive Nature and a EV spread of 4 Atk / 252 Sp.Atk / 252 Spe. With Sylveon dropping in usage (at least, with good players stopping using it for another options), getting the OHKO with Double Edge isn't as necessary as it used to be back in Early/Mid 2015. Draco Meteor filler slot could have been Fire Blast instead, but when i see that Heatran provides Fire-type coverage it isn't needed.

Heatran: Everything is cool with Heatran, bar the EV spread (i suppose this is the one from Smogon, because i've seen so many people posting it on RMTs). An EV spread of 44 HP / 4 Def / 252 Sp.Atk / 4 Sp.Def / 204 Speed will allow you to outspeed Bisharp and OHKO it with Heat Wave, and take Landorus-T's EQ 100% of the time with the Shuca Berry.

Weavile: This last slot is a really tough one, given that you need a Cresselia and Landorus-T check that provides Speed Control. I've been thinking of many options, and after getting to a conclusion, i'd personally reccomend Toxic Cresselia as your last Pokémon. Landorus-T isn't really anything to Cresselia as it can do little to no damage (with what? U-Turn? The move that will give you a free opening if predicted right?). A lot of people started running this as an answer for opposing Calm Mind Cresselia, that after a +2 are really dangerous (and Cresselia has plethora of bulk to set those up). The set i'd reccomend for you is Toxic, Ice Beam, Psychic and Trick Room with Leftovers and a Relaxed Nature. Now, i do know that you aren't building a TR team, but think about this one second. 4/6 mons (not counting Weavile of course) are below base 80s in speed, which makes them naturally slow. TR allows you to beat opposing weather/Tailwind teams while allows you to reset opposing TR if the opponent does set it up. Ice Beam is a clear 2HKO (if i'm right it can even be an OHKO if EVd right) on Landorus-T and it stalls opposing Cresselia, which you said you had issues dealing with. It also gives your team more defensive stability since it's rather frail. And the more important thing: IT DESTROYS RAIN. Your team at this point was awfully weak to rain, and you didn't have any clear Ludicolo answers. With TR up against Rain Teams, you'll have all the momentum at your favor. There are a lot of options for this slot, but i personally think Cresselia is the best. Up to you of course.

I hope i can see you next week with another team.

Thanks Cresselia will be added. It provides alot. Do you think Goodra is viable this year? (not for this team though) And I actually have that Heatran spread but I thought I had the one off Smogon.
