I'm new to RU and need some help fixing my team. I compiled a team but its result are meager. Any tips would be appreciated.
RE: After playing around a bit and tweaking the team part suggestion and part experience, I've updated my new RU team after a week or so. Again any tips would be helpful.
1. Kabutops @ Focus Sash [Invalid]
Nature: Jolly
Ability: Weak Armor
EVs: 4 HP/ 252 Atk/ 252 Spd
Stealth Rock
Aqua Jet
Stone Edge
Swords Dance
Kabutops can function like a lead sweeper or suicide lead. Swords Dance the first turn and then attack. Weak Armor will activate when Kabutops gets hit and Focus Sash guarantees that it will survive. Second turn is to ram Stone Edge or Aqua Jet at foe. Stone Edge is the main source of pain while Aqua Jet prevents priority moves from picking it off. It can also lay down rocks if needed. It is weak to fast Taunters and Pokemon who resist Rock-Water.
1. Gligar @ Evolite
Nature: Careful
Ability: Sand Veil
EVs: 252 Def/ 252 SpD/ 4 Spd
Knock Off
Taunt
Roost
Stealth Rock
After much deliberation i decided that Kabutops wasn't right for my team. I want something that could stick around. Gliscor is OU so I turned to his little brother Gligar. I didn't put any attacks because Gligar does pitiful damage. Knock Off is great for smacking Life Orbs, Choice Scarfs, Leftovers and even other Evolites. Taunt well stops set-up, entry hazards, etc. Roost keeps Gligar healthy and Stealth Rock is for yeah entry hazard.
2. Feraligatr @ Life Orb
Nature: Jolly
Ability: Torrent
EVs: 4 HP/ 252 Atk/ 252 Spd
Dragon Dance
Waterfall
Ice Punch
Earthquake
Feraligatr's classic set from last gen. quite simple just switch on a resisted attack, DD on the switch and sweep away. Waterfall is STAB, Ice Punch hurts bulky Grass and EQ can hit an Electric type on a predicted switch.
3. Typhlosion @ Life Orb
Nature: Timid
Ability: Blaze
EVs: 4 HP/ 252 Sp.Atk/ 252 Spd
Extrasensory
Hidden Power [Grass]
Focus Blast
Fire Blast
Typhlosion with its good speed and Sp. Attack can tear through things great. I use it to kill or to soften the opponents Pokemon for my other Pokemon to clear. Fire Blast is main source of pain especially when Blaze comes in effect. HP grass takes out water types who wants to wall him he rest are just filler to his poor movepool. Pretty much hurt everything you can before you die.
4. Meganium @ Light Clay
Nature: Bold
Ability: Overgrow
EVs: 252 HP/ 252 Def/ 4 SpD
Light Screen
Reflect
Giga Drain
Leech Seed
Meganium provides dual screens to cushion blows for my sweepers. Light Screen first to protect Meganium's slightly weaker defense then Reflect. Instead of Synthesis, the combonation of Giga drain and Leech Seed should keep Meganium healthy. Giga Drain is very effective when Meganium is at low health as it recovers alot.
5. Alakazam @ Choice Specs [Invalid]
Nature: Timid
Ability: Synchronize
EVs: 4 HP/ 252 SpA/ 252 Spd
Psychic
Focus Blast
Shadow Ball
Trick
With naturally high speed and Specs, Alakazam is very dangerous. Psychic is STAB, Focus Blast is for Steels and Dark types, Shadow Ball is for opposing Psychics and Ghosts and finally Trick can screw over Stall and Support Pokemon.
5. Cofagrigus @ Leftovers
Nature: Calm
Ability: Mummy
EVs: 252 HP/ 4 Def/ 252 SpD
Will-O-Wisp
Rest
Power Split
Night Shade
As beast as Alakazam is especially with Specs, he wasn't reliable die from sucker punches or from anything he couldn't kill. Besides, I need a spinblocker and in the lower teirs Cofagrigus was the way to go. Will-o-Wisp destroys physical attackers Rest keeps Cofagrigus healthy from status and damage. Power Split averages Cofagrigus and its opponents attack stats allow for even more stall while finally Night Shade is for consistent damage. Bigger investment is in SpD because Will-o-Wisp will neuter any physical attacker anyway.
6. Primeape @ Choice Scarf [Invalid]
Nature: Adamant
Ability: Vital Spirit
EVs: 4 HP/ 252 Atk/ 252 Spd
Close Combat
U-Turn
Stone Edge
Earthquake
ScarfApe. With Scarf I can give it an Adamant Nature since Primeape is already fast + scarf. Close Combat is STAB and since Primeape will be switching out a lot anyways the defense drop isn't problem (like it could take a hit anyway). U-Turn is for scouting and switching. Stone Edge is for Flying types and EQ does nice general coverage.
6. Electavire @ Expert Belt
Nature: Jolly
Ability: Motor Drive
EVs: 4 HP/ 252 Atk/ 252 Spd
Wild Bolt
Cross Chop
Earthquake
Ice Punch
What!? You people did say that Primeape pic was too big. Anyways, I replaced Scarfape with Electavire. With Wild Bolt Electavire can now run a pure physical set. With Electavire's unbelievable coverage, Expert belt is the weapon of choice. Wild Bolt is STAB, Cross Chop can hit Rock and Normals and Dark and other stuff. Ice Punch is nice on Dragons, Flying and Grass types who try to wall him and Earthquake is for Steels as Steel types only weak to fire is rare in RU. In RU, Electavire is already pretty fast but if he connects with an electric move, he can potentially sweep stuff easily.
Even with the edit its not a perfect team so again..
Help is appreciated. Thanks!
