So I’m gonna let you guys know now that the battling in this one is gonna be pretty short. Definitely thought I would have lasted a bit longer this year but hey it just shows you how haxy this metagame is.
Friday-
I woke up pretty early after going to sleep 4ish in an effort to get tired enough to force myself to sleep early. This proves not to work because later that day I’ll have trouble sleeping because I’m anxious and nervous about Saturday. Anyways I wake up really nervous Friday morning thinking that I’m not ready. I tell cybertron this on facebook and he says that we should have a practice battle. I do and I manage to beat him twice and I begin to feel more confident. Aaron tells me if I play like that I should be fine and I felt a lot better. AceTrainerBlu3 comes over to my house to hang out and we do some test battles. I win the ones when I use my actual team and I feel really great. I then get packed and I leave for Rukario’s house. We hang out and try to sleep early but end up singing pokemon theme songs in his bedroom lol. We finally fall asleep about 12ish.
Saturday-
We wake up around 4:30 to get ready to leave as Rukario is competing in Seniors with Acceleration and AcetrainerBlu3. We leave around 5 and get to port authority around 6:20. We find acceleration and ActrainerBlu3 and get on the bus just before it leaves. After a 20 min bus ride we arrive to the convention center and get to the end of the already long juniors line. Rayad and the rest of my seniors are panicking but we realize that ½ of the line is filled with parents and they’ll surely get in. We see human and sandman in live and chat with them for a little and get back in line. They get their cards and shortly after they’re ushered in. We see solace and we say hello to her. I leave them and they go to their battle stations and I watch as they partake in their first match. I see AceTrainerBlu3 raises his hand and is taken to the next area followed by Rayad and Acceleration. I’m happy as they past the first hurdle and are one step closer to nats. Then the bad news begins. I see Acceleration is taking forever for his 2nd match and ATB is looking like he’s having trouble as well. Both of them get knocked out this round =/. ATB loses because his opponent got two 5 turn sleeps on him and Acceleration is out from him and his opponent’s games freezing because the DSes were too far apart :(. Now Rayad was the only one left to represent the brown crew lol. Around this time I see TDS and Cybertron and tell talk with them a bit and I find out that human has been knocked out as well. ISS was with them and he still has to compete so smogon still had some hope at this time for seniors. Rukario wins his r3 match and moves on to the final area before the finalist lounge. His match is on the big screen and a group of smogoners congregate around it to cheer him on. Around this time I find Hitmonrocker and he comes and watches Rayad’s next match. He ends up waiting for what seems like an eternity to me for his opponent. Finally the boy shows up and we watch their battle go underway. Rayad ends protects and tws t1 while his opponent spouts and trs. Only rayad would tailwind when his opponent trick rooms. His mom asks me if everything is okay and sadly I have to tell her it’s not. Everyone around us is screaming. On the second to last turn his opponent undoes trick room and everyone is going crazy as we thought he made a mistake. But we are wrong as next turns he finishes up a flawless game by spouting for the last 2 kos. The same guy would later go on to win the whole thing after facing solace in the finals.
I watch some more matches and eat lunch then I go outside and line up for masters. After being ushered in I get my friend Chris to hold my spot as I put my team in my battle box and watch finals. I run back to my spot in line and try to mentally prepare for battling. I’m nervous as hell because I know I have to do well if I want to be able to bring my group to nats. I finally get paired up with my opponent who’s wearing a Pikachu hat and we go to our spots and prepare for battle.
Battling-
Round 1 vs Brice H. Accelgor/Mienshao/Terrakion/Bisharp/Archeops/Whimsicott?
I’m not sure about his last poke but that’s okay I guess.
Anyways I don’t want to reveal my team because I may be going to nats if I can hitch a ride with someone lol. So I play the match extremely well and I’m calm and serious for the majority of the match. I bring him down to his bisharp and terrakion I take out the terrakion and he sucker punches one of my guys and live it. From here I try to be greedy and keep that same guy alive so I can get a 2-0 so I detect stall a little. But then he sucker punches my other guy and the hp drops..
And drops…
And at this point I’m thinking noo please live please live…
And I see the pokemon faint and it’s followed by “it’s a critical hit” message
At this point I think I die a little in my seat because my opponent and I both knew I deserve to win the match. I wish I had just continued to double target and I am soo mad at myself. I wished him good luck and I left the battling zone =/
I spend the rest of the day battling and chilling with the rest of the smogoners. Had a couple multi-battles and just chilled and watched everyone do work in top 16. IPS played great and deserved to win the whole thing and I wish him and the rest of the smogoners the best of luck in nats. Hopefully I’ll be able to join you but I may not =/ either way I had a great time this year thanks to all of the smogoners that were there.

TDS- last year we talked a little but this year we actually got to chill, you’re mad cool and when you’re not on work we should chill together over the summer.
Hitmonrocker- bro, you and your mom are so cool. Nuff said lol I had a great time with you guys and if we can make it to nats we’ll def chill some more, if not though I know in the future you guys will make vgc a blast :)
Human- you mad bro? lol you’re mad chill and we def need to have a rematch in multi-battles also get your ass on shitbox live so we can play CoD
