Apologies to everyone for the unexpected disappearance. Many thanks to Scimjara for taking over while I was gone, and I am taking over the rest of the tournament. Staraptors still suck.


While you battle, you must follow these rules:
Here are the rules that are also in place:
  • The OU Ban List will be frozen at the time of posting.
  • All logs must be sent to Steven Snype.
  • Once a pokemon dies in any battle for the tournament, you may no longer use this pokemon for the rest of the tournament.
    Ex: Tito vs uragg: Tito uses Staraptor, Cloyster, Arcanine, Tropius, Jellicent, and Snorlax. Tito 5-0's uragg while losing only Snorlax. Tito is not allowed to use Snorlax for the rest of the tournament. Tito is free to use Staraptor, Cloyster, Arcanine, Tropius, and Jellicent in whatever round he feels like, provided they do not die before then. Tito then gets 6-0'd next round by reyscarface.
  • For the above reason, logs must be sent. It does not matter if only one of you sends it. However, if I only get one log, I will be making decisions based on the log, not on anything else. If your opponent decides to lie and you don't send in a log to prove it, I will have no way of knowing and make my decision accordingly. That being said, I do not want to hear any complaint that you lost mons you shouldn't have. Any matter with forged logs will be taken to the TDs.
  • I will be keeping track of who lost which mons in a GoogleDoc Spreadsheet. Each round will contain a list of who lost which mons and the spreadsheet link will be posted.
  • As far as pokemon with alternate forms are concerned, you can use a different form of them provided that they are different stat-wise. EG: If Rotom-Wash dies, you can use Rotom-Cut since they have different typings and movepools. If Gastrodon-West dies, you cannot use Gastrodon-East since the difference between the forms is purely aesthetic. If Deo-S dies, you can use Deo-D since stat distribution is different. Feel free to use Basculin-Pin if Basculin-Normal dies.

Was the problem with people that got byes getting free rides addressed?

A huge number of people got activity/coin flip wins. None of them lost anything in the cemetery. This is unfair to the players that actually fought in Round 1 and lost Pokemon. In the first Gauntlet three random OU Pokemon were chosen for the players that got a "free ride." Why isn't the same rule applied here?

Because it's unfair that some people might randomly lose something Like Tyranitar + Ferrothorn + Gliscor when others that have battled lost only Hippopotas and Escavalier (looking at you IronBullet).
 
Well maybe we could go something like 1 OU + 2 others if the above situation comes up. I agree with Eternal, whatever was applied last installment can also be used here. But something should def be done. Also Bluewind sucks

The reason this rule is not applied here is because most of the people that got activity were actually trying to get their matches done, some of these people posting multiple times about their status. As evidenced by the pokemon lost, people have different styles. In the Gauntlet, the pokemon lost should be based on what you pick and how you play, not something random. Ex: supposing Volcarona, Reuniclus, and Staraptor. It isn't fair for someone who probably never intended on using them to suddenly not have them available at all when they may need it later in the tournament, and it is not fair at all to penalize the people who tried to get their match done and docking them 3 pokemon. As for the coin flips last round, there weren't that many and most of the coin flips were between players who had not posted nor contacted me/Scimjara last round.

I do agree though about your point when it comes to coin flips as the coin flips were mainly which inactive person got lucky. I did talk to Kevin Garrett about the people who advanced with coin flips. There is no way to fairly select a pool to choose pokemon from since things most people probably wouldn't consider using were used in this tournament and we could get in a whole debate, but that would take too much time. There weren't many people who advanced via coinflip anyway.

For this tournament, if you advance due to activity, coin flip, or forfeit, there is no penalty.

This issue will be worked on in a later version of the tournament.

Pairing up players that were given activity/coin flips wins would've been a good idea. It wouldn't be fair to pair up someone that lost 5 pokes in Round 1 against someone that got a free win in Round 1.

I also remember the maker of this, Rising Dusk, playing everyone that got an activity/coin flip win. So he didn't have to randomly prohibit Pokemon from you. You would have had an actual battle with him, and whatever you lose will be sent to the cemetery.

There could've been many valid approaches you could've taken.
 
Agreeing with Eternal.I should have to play someone who actually lost somepokes or battled well enough to have lost none.Just noticed TV-Rocka advanced through activity/coin flip.
