First off, let me thank all of the participants who played in this tournament. Hosting this type of thing is something new for me, and I'm glad most of you stuck with me through it. For those of you who are still in the last stretch of this competition, here's how you look:

_____________

With that, I am signaling the official start of the Wild Card round. Here is the format:
Division Wild Cards will be separated into two pools by their league. Each pool will play in a similar format to what they have been following all season with one change - matchups between players will consist of THREE MATCHES TOTAL. Do NOT read this as "best of 3." This means each player should be playing 6 games total this round. The player from each pool with the best record in this round will move on to the playoffs. Ties will be broken by total points earned during the season.
Diamond League Wild Card Pool

Agammemnon (1 - 4), Lamppost (3 - 3), wilson46 (4 - 1)

  • Agammemnon (1-2) vs Lamppost (2-1)
  • Agammemnon (0) vs wilson46 (2)
  • wilson46 (2-1) vs Lamppost (1-2)
- kuja20 and Lamppost are tied in their division for the Wildcard position. If they had played each during the season, the person who that match would be the Wildcard, but neither of the two faced each other. So, in order to determine, who gets the Wildcard slot, Lamppost and kuja20 must face each other in a standard bo1 DPP OU game. The winner of the match gets the Wildcard position and a chance to fight for a playoff spot.

- Kevin Garrett, Lady Bug, Nachos, and wilson46 are tied in their division for the Wildcard / Division Leader position. That's a four way tie.

Here are the possible outcomes of a four way group pairing:

  1. 3-0 2-1 1-2 0-3
  2. 2-1 2-1 1-2 1-2
  3. 3-0 1-2 1-2 1-2
  4. 2-1 2-1 2-1 0-3
Here's what wilson, KG, Nachos, and Lady Bug will have to do:

  1. In the first scenario, if a player goes 3-0 they become the division leader. The one who's 2-1 becomes the wildcard.
  2. In the second scenario, if two players are 2-1 they play off for the division leader position. The person who wins this game becomes division leader, the one who loses becomes the wildcard.
  3. In the third scenario, the 3-0 individual becomes the division leader. The 3 people who are 1-2 must face each other in a round robin. The winner of the round robin will become the wildcard.
  4. In the fourth scenario, if it's 2-1 2-1 2-1, another round robin between those 3 individuals will take place. If the round robin between these 3 people does not result in a tie (2-0 1-1 0-2,) the 2-0 individual becomes the wildcard. If this round robin ties, you guys must play it again until there's a winner (hopefully it doesn't keep resulting in ties because that has the potential to go on for a very long time!)
As an aside: Kevin Garrett gets a victory over Nachos in the first group pairing because of the season head to head advantage.

Pearl League Wild Card Pool

kokoloko (1 - 5), reyscarface (4 - 2), twash (4 - 2)
  • reyscarface (1-2) vs twash (2-1)
  • kokoloko (1-2) vs twash (2-1)
  • reyscarface (3-0) vs kokoloko (0-3)
- Bluewind and reyscarface are tied in points for division leader. Bluewind is away until the 27th and it'd be unfair to deem him as the Wildcard because of that. So, reyscarface and Bluewind must face each other upon Bluewind's return in order to determine who will be division leader and the Wildcard. Same rules apply, standard bo1 DPP OU game. If rey wins, he will be the division leader and Bluewind will be the Wildcard, vice avers.

Dear kokoloko and Hantsuki,

@kokoloko: you have priority in choosing which Wildcard you'd like to challenge for their spot since you won the Platinum League. You may wait for the results of the KG vs Nachos vs Lady Bug vs wilson46 / Bluewind vs reyscarface games before deciding who to challenge, or you may challenge one of B-Lulz, twash, Lamppost, or Agammemnon for their spots. You must face the person you challenge in a bo3. If you win, you replace them as the Wildcard and must play the individuals who they are pit up against. If you lose, you're out.

@Hantsuki: Once kokoloko picks who he wants to challenge, it's your turn to pick. The same thing applies: You may wait for the results of the KG vs Nachos vs Lady Bug vs wilson46/ Bluewind vs reyscarface games before deciding who to challenge, or you may challenge one of B-Lulz, twash, Lamppost, or Agammemnon for their spots (but of course, you can't challenge the person kokoloko picks.) You must face the person you challenge in a bo3. If you win, you replace them as the Wildcard and must play the individuals who they are pit up against. If you lose, you're out.

_____________

Wild Card Round Deadline: Tuesday, February 28 @ 11:59pm GMT -5 (Screw you, Bluewind). Because of all the ties, the deadline may be extended.

These quotes are important so I am re-posting them here to make sure it isn't forgotten. Read the ones that concern you.

kuja20 & Lamppost - Done

Kevin Garrett & Nachos & Lady Bug & wilson46

  2. 2-1 2-1 1-2 1-2
  3. 3-0 1-2 1-2 1-2

kokoloko (picked B-Lulz) & Hantsuki (picked twash)

@kokoloko: you have priority in choosing which Wildcard you'd like to challenge for their spot since you won the Platinum League. You may wait for the results of the KG vs Nachos vs Lady Bug / Bluewind vs reyscarface games before deciding who to challenge, or you may challenge B-Lulz, twash, Lamppost, or Agammemnon for their spots. If anything's unclear, please let me know and I'll try to clear things up.

Okay, so I'm officially extending a challenge to B-Lulz.

I'll VM him right after this post so we can set something up.

Yeah me and kokoloko will play later in the week, maybe wednesday. 1 more match to victory lane i guess!

I miscounted wilson46's points. He should have 12, not 14.

That means there's a four way tie between Nachos, Lady Bug, Kevin Garrett, and wilson46. I'll have to figure out a way to handle that, so I'll post here when I do. Should be fun figuring this out!

So, here are the possible outcomes of a four way group pairing:

  1. 3-0 2-1 1-2 0-3
  2. 2-1 2-1 1-2 1-2
  3. 3-0 1-2 1-2 1-2
  4. 2-1 2-1 2-1 0-3
