Welcome to the first RU Seasonal! This seasonal will be part of the RU Circuit. Entering in this seasonal earns you points for an overall RU leaderboard. After a number of seasonals (depending on activity), the top 16 players of this leaderboard will enter a seeded playoffs, where the winner of the tournament will become the RU champion with a banner to match! There may also be other prizes in store, which are still being discussed.

Specific Rules:
  • This is a standard ORAS RU tournament.
  • Matches are to be played on PS!
  • All rounds will be a best of three in this double elimination tournament, and you are free to switch teams during your series.
  • If you drop out of the tournament immediately after losing in the winner's bracket or just drop out of the winner's bracket, you will be banned from future RU circuit tournaments and are subject to a possible infraction.
  • Replays must be saved and posted when confirming your win/loss. If neither the winning nor losing party posts replays, the match will be coin-flipped regardless of confirmation of result from either party. This is to ensure that everyone is on an even playing field, and in general, access to a library of quality replays is a good tool to track the development of the metagame that will possibly be used to fuel several other resources.
  • If for a specific round you don't save all of your replays, you will not receive any points for advancing in the next round
  • In the case that a ban is made or a Pokemon moves up from RU to another tier or down to RU from another tier through usage during the middle of a round, the tier change(s) will not be taken into effect until the proceeding round begins.
  • If you do not post to claim activity, then the match will be coinflipped.
Standard Rules and Clauses:
  • Species Clause: A player cannot have two Pokemon with the same PokeDex number on his team.
  • Sleep Clause: You cannot inflict sleep upon more than one member of the opposing team.
  • Evasion Clause: The moves Double Team and Minimize are banned.
  • OHKO Clause: The moves Horn Drill, Guillotine, Sheer Cold, and Fissure are banned.
  • Endless Battle Clause: Anything capable of intentionally creating an endless battle is banned.
General Tournament Rules:
  • Identity: I expect many battles to be completed under alts. This can be bad for tournament security, and thus I will make this clear: If I hear any whispers of identity theft (battling as someone you are not) or proxy battling (helping someone else battle through pm) I will not be pleased and I will take severe actions.
  • Scouting: Next, I do not want to hear anything about counterteaming, at all. Do not complain about it. I also don't want to hear about any blatant scouting. There is a difference between "[user] is known for using stall" and "let me follow [user] around all day to watch all his battles since I am his opponent". I expect a lot of the former and none of the latter. I give permission to all battlers to ask any person spectating their battle to leave if they do not want them watching. Everyone will have access to your replays from earlier rounds though.
  • Timer Clause: As for taking long between moves, if your opponent asks you to hurry up, please oblige. If you are doing a damage calc for a key turn that is one thing, but prolonging every move is suspicious and annoying. Don't do it. Furthermore, Battle Timeout is a rule for a reason. If you run out of time, you lose, simple as that. It does not matter what your opponent says. Do not battle if you think you will have to leave mid battle, and instead reschedule for a better time.
  • Disconnections: Finally, in the case of a disconnect, the decision is in the hands of the player who did not disconnect. The options are: redo the battle move for move, redo the battle with the same teams but different moves, or redo the battle with completely different teams. If the battle was without a doubt over, they may also take the win. Any suspicion that a disconnect was committed on purpose to redo a match may be appealed to me, and if I feel this happened there will be severe consequences, don't do it.
Scheduling:
  • Use VMs to schedule with your opponent to make it easier for me to track activity calls when needed. If you use other methods to contact your opponent outside of VMs, then post in this thread confirming you're in contact with your opponent; otherwise, it's not necessary. Extensions for those with time conflicts will only be given when proof is provided of scheduling with their opponent in the beginning of the round (first 2-3 days). Do not schedule last minute expecting to be compensated in case of timezone conflicts or be given an activity win over your opponent.
Winners will take a break here, losers continue to fight for their fate!
  • Losers' Bracket
Memento Ein vs Hairy Toenail
Level 56 vs Kiyo
PURPLEDOOSH
vs rozes
Dominatio vs Akashi
FlamingVictini
vs Scythe.

Mael dropped out for whatever reason, just in case anyone is wondering why there are byes still.

Something important to point out: Reje passion will take a break this round and move up to the next one in order to fix a mistake on the brackets so in the end we can have 4 v 4 on both brackets in future rounds (round 11 to be precise). Hope you guys can understand.

Lord Esche BelmontGabriel play your extended game accordingly, all will be solved on next round.

Credit to FlamingVictini for the fix, truly appreciate it

Deadline:
  • Round 9 Losers' Bracket ends on June 7th at 11:59 PM EST
**If you notice any mistakes in the pairings, feel free to PM me and I'll correct it asap.

Disclaimer: Mega Steelix and Tyrantrum are allowed regardless of the suspect

Have fun!

Ok, new deadline is on July 7th, but I cant be doing this all the time. Less matches should take less time o.o

I can't really say I agree with this logic. Its like assuming that each match takes one day, and a round with 7 matches will last a week, but the finals of a tournament with only one match will only take a single day to complete. Less matches means there should be less hassle to get all matches completed in the required time to get them done; which should never drop below a week in normal circumstances (see OLT bracket recreation as an exception, and every other tour as an example to this general consensus), considering the availability and timezones of players may leave them only able to play on one or two days in the week. If there was a very strong reason to get rounds done sooner, I could understand not giving us a week, but I have not been made aware of any such pressures, so it doesn't really make much sense to me. In the end though you are the host and you make the calls, but I would greatly resist a decrease in time to play rounds just because we're nearing the conclusion of this seasonal. Specifically for this round, my potential opponents (YABO and Scythe. ) said in the last thread they are playing this saturday, which would leave me no time to play my own game regardless if we kept the original deadline of the 4th (our game will have to be on tuesday considering the circumstances).

(posting here since the round 8 thread is locked)

i won my r8 match in 3 exciting games vs BelmontGabriel. ggs man, best of luck in future tournaments!

Hi,

Scythe and I will need an extension so we can complete our series tomorrow. We weren't able to catch each other earlier today, and when we did meet up, Scythe said he had something to do and would rather play an hour later. An hour later, he told me that he wouldn't be able to play, and understandably so, since it was 2 AM for him at the time. We plan to complete our series as soon as possible (around 5:30/6 GMT-4) tomorrow. Thanks.
