Resource 35PL I — Team and Set Dump

The title says it all. Post the cool teams you used for 35PL!

Pretty obvious but as the host I have to clarify this: please don't use this thread to post any other teams (of course, if you built them for 35PL but for some reason ended up not using them, you can definitely post those as well). Have fun!

Reposting what I sent in the Discord server with a bit more explanation.

April 2024 teams:
W1 - Stall: https://pokepast.es/30c62c4e4d66c47a
Despite all the strong mons stall felt pretty doable so I was curious to try Gastro+Skarm with Gothitelle trapping Firepon and eventually other threats, wheras the other mons are pretty standard faces on stall teams. I think this has decent potential but the tier is full of stallbreakers so it is very risky. Cresselia+Skarm+Gastro can overall try and take on most Ubers with Blissey being overall unbreakable for any special mon, and TTar helps trapping annoying Psychics and Ghosts like Lunala and Alakazam.

W2 - CB Meloetta Voltturn: https://pokepast.es/59dc3536c35fa503
I noticed nobody uses Ground types in this tour so Volt Spam seemed very strong, Meloetta has basically no switch-in and the double Volt Switch just help it get in very often, whereas Prankster TWave can annoy faster mons than Thundurus and Meloetta to allow Meloetta to be even more annoying. Arceus to try and benefit from CB Meloetta weakening mons like Skarmory.

W3 - SUB SD Meloetta + Lunar Dance: https://pokepast.es/29887e7004a39767
Again going with TWave Spam cause of no grounds although I expected oppo to be more careful after W2 game, also wanted to try SUB SD Meloetta as it looked like it has a lot of opportunities to click Sub and at +2 it's basically unstoppable. Lunar Dance support just helps it furthermore. Dragapult + Samurott for hazards support while Dpult also helps along Cresselia to spread Para's to avoid having faster rkillers to Meloetta, or just allowing it to fish for full para's with Sub. Victini looked a solid spede control option so I just put it there.

W4 & W5 - Trailblaze Ogerpon HO: https://pokepast.es/e5efd7ea440a1c43
Trailblaze Pon looked amazing to me so I just decided to run it while spamming hazards with broken setter Deo. Rest of the teams works well together and lures each others checks, having Naganadel + Alakazam luring and weakening opposing dark and steel mons, whereas tyranitar is overall a strong setupper and Iron Treads is also very solid having basically no switch-in bar a not-so-used Cresselia, while it provides for a Ground slot with Removal.

Hello, I’m OceanicGamer, Absols Co-Manager and their star Ubers players, and I will share some of my teams in a meta game no one will probably play again!
Week 1 (W) Week 2 (L) :Kyurem-white: :gothitelle: :Samurott-hisui: :Arceus-rock: :forretress: :Dragapult:
Lowkey for this week, I was trying to figure out stuff, but at first glance Specs Kyurem Whire absolutely decimated everything not named Blissey, which Gothitelle is meant to trap and kill. Samurott Hisui is a cheap mon, Arceus Rock as a cleaner, Forretress <3 and Pult for some status spreading which helps Kyurem

Week 3 (W) :Cresselia: :Dialga-origin: :Hoopa-unbound: :meloetta-pirouette: :palkia: :Lunala:
Tagging ilikeeatingcrayons , she LOVES trick room so I decided to give a try. I’d say it’s what you’d expect from a trick room team… itemless hoopa for poltergeist giratina, I had two fast mons bc one is Melo which is broken lmao and palkia looks like a trick room user not scarfer, which actually allowed me to snipe a mega sceptile in my game! Lunala was initially Mega Camerupt, but testing showed that well… Lunala good Mega Can bad :haha:

Week 4 (L) Week 5 (W) :Lunala: :Skarmory: :ogerpon-hearthflame: :Hoopa-unbound: :palkia: :meloetta-pirouette:
Probably my weirdest team here, first we have the best Pokémon in the format Lunala. Then, we had Skarmory as a Spike setter as well as a standard Pon set. Skarm become Occa after W4 as Ogerpon literally 6-0d me. The next two sets are definitely weird in a way, first AV Hoopa. While it’s not like AV is THAT weird, everyone was using Choice locked variants or OTR, but I wanted to AV it bc all Lunala ran Focus Blast and not Moonblast, so I decided maybe Hoopa could deal with it. So the Palkia set, imma be so honest looking back I had no idea what I was doing but I know it made sense back then so… and scarf Melo to wrap it all up.

Semi-Finals (W) :giratina-origin: :blissey: :Arceus-rock: :Tyranitar-mega: :Cresselia: :Thundurus:
I think far in a way, this is by far my best team of this PL. Giratina EVd to live a +3 play rough for ogerpon whilst OHKOing back with Poltergeist. Blissey used for beating out Lunala who I expected to come, (crayons is a Lunala glazer), Arceus as a back up sweeper, Cresselia who is itemless and physically bulky, allowing it to check both Melo and Physical variants of Gira. TTar, EVd specifically to survive Modest Focus Blast from Lunala 93.8% of the time after rocks (if you remove the speed EVs from tar and put it in SpDef, FBlast will never KO), and the attack investment is enough for Knock to KO granted Shadow Shield is broken. Finally, Thundurus plays a role as a good lead into Samu as I can Volt into TTar as well as providing yellow button. I am really proud of this team :3

Huge shoutouts to ilikeeatingcrayons and Aryecki

Crayons, we both helped each other immensely, so I hope I helped you as much as you helped me. And aryecki, several times a week I would ping you, asking for games, asking for advice, without you man, I don’t think I could’ve done as well as I have done here. Love y’all, and everyone in my team

Building for this tournament was rly fun, id like to share my favourite team I built, a Maractus x Togedemaru spikes stack for Feb 25.

:maractus: :tauros: :zygarde-10%: :togedemaru: :weezing: :uxie:

While playing testing games for the month with other teams, I noticed that boots were really not that common due to other pokemon really liking other items such as LO tauros and toxic orb zangoose. I also felt that band zydog was one of the strongest mons in the tier basically being almost unwallable. Its espeed + thousand arrows go crazy on everything and i wanted to see if i could build a team to help stop its strength w/o using bewear as i was bored of spamming it on every team lol.

I started with togedemaru, as it could stop espeed and give it crazy chip with rocky helmet + iron barbs. Its also a wish passer which is really nice to heal up my other guys if i misplay (common). In hindsight i think full spdf evs is better cause I added max def weezing which can eat up like every physical attacker.

I really liked how togedemaru could get chip damage on everything and weaken mons over time for my band espeed zydog and tauros to clean up, with this teamstyle in mind, i wanted a spiker to follow suit. Maractus stood out to me as the best spiker as a grass type that resists thousand arrows, having reliable recovery in synthesis, leech seed to chip and heal, and having more bulk than cacturne. Double spiky shield combo with togedemaru is also nice as you can scout on choiced mons and chip.

Around this same time, my teammates were experimenting with pursuit tauros to trap sigilyph. I realized that this would be a really nice addition as sigilyph counters this chip strategy I had in mind, Facade is also another nice tech to counter flame orb psycho shift. From here i filled in the rest of the squad with band zydog as a very strong physical mon to crush through, neutralizing gas max def weezing to eat up hits with ease, and a spdef uxie as my rocker with encore + uturn into clear smog if any set up guys start going ham.

This was by far my favourite team i built during the tournament, unfortunately I lost my game with it because i forgot sigilyph got heat wave :blobpensive: A lot of improvements could be made, but overall this team performed decently during testing and I got to experiment with some new pokemon i've never tried before! Thats for sure one of the most fun parts of playing 35 pokes, coming up with new ideas and trying out new strategies. hope yall enjoyed reading as much as i enjoyed coming up with this team!

Here's my team dump of teams I made specifically for the PL! I don't think I used all of them and there was one or two teams I think I did use that I changed so no longer exist as they were but yeah this is where we landed from learning various things throughout PL!

Pauros-Blaze is just him hence them being on every team but one. I can't really say anything else was too crazy, rather just variations of structure using safe sets. The main thing I personally learned is that sometimes you don't need some crazy gimmick to break through the meta threats, sometimes the meta threats break themsleves with good play (which I'm not great at lol!)

I know this isn't as in depth as the others, I really don't have many comments unfortunately as I just wanted to master what was strong instead of my usual style of gimmick mon bulky offense/semi stall
