Welcome to the fifth cycle of the Monotype Seasonals! This is the first of three tournaments in the third Monotype Seasonal and the 2020 circuit, meaning wins in this tournament WILL count towards the Monotype Ribbon, as well as the Seasonal rankings.

SPECIFIC RULES
  • This is a standard SS Monotype tournament
  • This tournament will be DOUBLE Elimination
  • All rounds will be Best of Three. You may switch teams in between battles of the same set.
  • Matches are to be played on Pokemon Showdown!
  • To encourage the development of the metagame, and so that everyone is on an even playing field, all matches must have replays recorded. If neither player posts or at least saves replays of the match, the game will be coin flipped regardless of whoever won.
Standard Rules and Clauses
  • Baton Pass Clause: Baton pass is banned
  • Same Type Clause: Pokémon in a team must share a type.
  • Sleep Clause Mod: Limit one foe put to sleep
  • Species Clause: Limit one of each Pokémon
  • OHKO Clause: OHKO moves are banned
  • Moody Clause: Moody is banned
  • Evasion Moves Clause: Evasion moves are banned
  • Endless Battle Clause: Forcing endless battles is banned
  • HP Percentage Mod: HP is shown in percentages

  1. Identity: I expect many battles to be completed under alts. This can be bad for tournament security, and thus I will make this clear: If I hear any whispers of identity theft (battling as someone you are not) or proxy battling (helping someone else battle through pm) I will not be pleased and I will take severe actions.
  2. Scouting: Next, I do not want to hear anything about counterteaming, at all. Do not complain about it. I also don't want to hear about any blatant scouting. There is a difference between "[user] is known for using Fire-type" and "let me follow [user] around all day to watch all his battles since I am his opponent". I expect a lot of the former and none of the latter. I give permission to all battlers to ask any person spectating their battle to leave if they do not want them watching. Everyone will have access to your replays from earlier rounds though.
  3. Timer Clause: As for taking long between moves, if your opponent asks you to hurry up, please oblige. If you are doing a damage calc for a key turn that is one thing, but prolonging every move is suspicious and annoying. Don't do it. Furthermore, Battle Timeout is a rule for a reason. If you run out of time, you lose, simple as that. It does not matter what your opponent says. Do not battle if you think you will have to leave mid battle, and instead reschedule for a better time.
  4. Disconnections: Finally, in the case of a disconnect, the decision is in the hands of the player who did not disconnect. The options are: redo the battle move for move, redo the battle with the same teams but different moves, or redo the battle with completely different teams. If the battle was without a doubt over, they may also take the win. Any suspicion that a disconnect was committed on purpose to redo a match may be appealed to me, and if I feel this happened there will be severe consequences, don't do it.

Perish Why
Losers Bracket

Namranan vs ed wins- Nam Lasting Longer than Ssalbap in ssnls means gen 8 will be spicy
yedla vs Jacobikko- Yelling Zelda
Angels & Airwaves vs MetaRiolu7- MR7 won’t lose to a random in losers until the prophet MetaLucario8 comes down
Dorron vs Confluxx- Fluxx is good enough to beat someone who misspelled Morron when making their online name
Derpeddeath vs MikuChan- derp has been repping a lot lately. I think it’s time for a level up
TacticalFacepalms vs martha- yep
Dragonflo vs Fakee- Fake user. Automatic win. Perish is using alts to stack the tour /s
Dandy Highwayman vs smub- A goon vs a bad type main. We all know how this will go down. Dandy can win if he just brings a type that beats rock and ice.
Kalib_32 vs neomon- Kalib isn’t that bad. I think he can do better than R3 losers
Mack Knife vs Alternativ3- there is no alternative. Winner of this match will get to losers finals because perish is making all the good players face each other early
Cheese5555 vs avarice- I faced this guy last round. If he doesn’t bring bad teams he is the clear favorite. Show up in mono chat to get some help
[Loser of ima vs Its Choco Bitch ] vs Riku Sakuraba- One of the opponent’s could still be in winners, but Riku is better than both
maroon vs Gammbitt- Maroon doesn’t take gambits
PerishSong vs TheUprising007- This man managed to rig a round 3 losers bracket to have better highlight matches than MPL finals. Good job
Yami vs FIR SoulSurfer- Magma is apparently another washed gen 7 player who is in losers. He has got this matchup in the bag tho
Brumirage vs Endal- Endal be all. Brumirage had an unfortunate pairing.
DugZa vs Vodoom- Ah perish you have done it again. No RNG could have made this round of matchups
Xiri vs Seager- Seager is back, and Xiri better watch out. Both these players are good, but i’d bet on Seager.
SpringCoder vs raj.shoot- I have heard of raj.shoot. Something I can’t say about spring coder
Eien vs Ssalbap- It’s hard to beat someone when they make all of your teams
Cam vs Huston- Huston, we have a problem. This losers bracket is too stacked!
Koalacance vs Akashi- Koalas were stopped at the border this gen. Akashi has got this
Chaitanya vs Rabzzz- Rabzzz got coin flipped last round, and is now facing chait. Can I get an F in chat
Staxi vs Kev- watch out staxi. Kev is well known player. You’re going to need to put in work to beat the guy named after the sea cucumber in spongebob
LuckyPiper vs Roxiee- I’m good friends with both of these people, and I would like to keep it that way. Definitely a highlight match. I think Roxiee’s “building skill” will be the edge he needs to win.
zSpxdes vs Decem- Decem has been doing a lot of building this gen. I don’t think zSpxdes could keep up
The Thunderbirds vs 85percent- Zapdos isn’t in this gen, but thunderbirds is still going!
InfernoDragon vs iKiQ- after losing to zugu this man can only go up
Twilight Solace vs Reyzark- Reyzark was new in gen 7. I think it’s about time he gets his name recognition
DianaNicole vs agenS- Agency?
Harpp vs Pixel Pusher- Another Great match. I think harpp is a little higher on my list of players who shouldn’t be in R3 losers, so I’ll go with him.
Nexecutioner vs Mateeus- This is a very fun matchup. Rigged tour couldn’t have done it better. Well done Perish. I’m rooting for mat, but I haven’t seen either of these players do too much in gen 8

Predictions that nobody wanted or asked for

Namranan vs ed wins - By the time I've finished writing this Nam will have probably already called act, unfortunately for him, corrupt host Perish Song will give the win to ed out of spite.
yedla vs Jacobikko - Jacob will get the bikkies
Angels & Airwaves vs MetaRiolu7 - I'm genuinely shocked that mr7 isn't playing nam for this game, considering how rigged the rest of the round is
Dorron vs Confluxx - JT made fun of this dude spelling moron wrong while spelling it wrong himself (after a quick google search to make sure im not an idiot apparently morron is the spanish word for a capsicum/bell pepper, point still stands though), still Fluxx is going to take this game
Derpeddeath vs MikuChan - Brexit won the vote in 2016 and will win the game here
TacticalFacepalms vs martha - I think martha is supposed to be good, idk if they ever play mono but mons is mons
Dragonflo vs Fakee - idk
Dandy Highwayman vs smub - both of these two got pretty far in the circuit last year but smub uses some whack types so bolding him for sure
Kalib_32 vs neomon - The only way kalib could have possibly lost last round was by act, smh man should be in winners, He'll still win the tour by a landslide though
Mack Knife vs Alternativ3 - He's bounced back well after "the incident" with namranan, could see him winning here for sure
Cheese5555 vs avarice - Damn the superior food vs a cool name, battle of the titans right here, could really go either way
[Loser of ima vs Its Choco Bitch ] vs Riku Sakuraba - Riku is the greatest mons player of all time
maroon vs Gammbitt - Maroons played a game or two of mono before this
PerishSong vs TheUprising007 - He thinks hes rigged the tournament and gotten an easy matchup this round, but the uprising defeated esteemed circuit winner DugZa, should be an landslide win for him
Yami vs FIR SoulSurfer - Yami is going to john till sunday night and win
Brumirage vs Endal - endal beat me in a game of mons once so is clearly not going to lose here
DugZa vs Vodoom - Damn already? sadly for dugza he cant bring stomping tantrum deoxys here
Xiri vs Seager - doesnt xiri get to the quaters of literally every tournament he plays? i swear i see his name like everywhere on those things
SpringCoder vs raj.shoot - its not spring
Eien vs Ssalbap - this bracket should prove who is the best kevin in monotype, starting out with kevin vs kevin, i know kevin beat kevin in the rigged tour so i am backing him to win but kevin is very good at mons, hopefully whichever kevin wins this game gets drawn with kevin next round and we can see who the best kevin is once and for all
Cam vs Huston - Cam is pretty good iirc
Koalacance vs Akashi - Im all for a good pun
Chaitanya vs Rabzzz - chait is not bad i guess
Staxi vs Kev - hopefully kevin wins this so he can play kevin next round in the final of kevin vs kevin vs kevin
LuckyPiper vs Roxiee - Roxiee is going to win with a skuntank called decem smells
zSpxdes vs Decem - decem makes me spicy teams sometimes
The Thunderbirds vs 85percent - 85% of what, like you play at 85%? 85% chance of winning? your phone is always at 85% charge? this name is confusing and thunderbirds is a cool name
InfernoDragon vs iKiQ - meh
Twilight Solace vs Reyzark - both good i think probs edge rey
DianaNicole vs agenS - never trust a person with two first names
Harpp vs Pixel Pusher - both good, could go either way tbh
Nexecutioner vs Mateeus - damn perish has really outdone himself here, Mat is going to bring normal all three games like he always does, and nex is going to bring fighting and still lose because fighting is atrocious.
