Welcome to the official RU ladder tour (RULT), where qualified ladder players will get a chance to compete amongst themselves to earn points for the RU Circuit Playoffs. We are now onto the second stage of the tournament, where the 16 remaining players will battle each other in a single elimination bracket to see who wins the whole thing. This is a Type B tournament.

Tour Specific Rules:
  • This is a standard SV RU tournament.
  • Best of three, single elimination.
  • Matchups are randomized and not based on seeds.
  • Matches are to be played on Pokémon Showdown (main or smogtours).
  • All matches are to be played in [Gen 9] RU. If a ban or unban to the tier occurs during a round, the change will take effect as of the following round.
  • Replays are required, if you don't post them / if they aren't public, your games will not count.
Standard Rules and Clauses:
  • General tournament rules and regulations can be found here
  • Species Clause: A player cannot have two Pokémon with the same Pokédex number on his team.
  • Sleep Clause: You cannot inflict sleep upon more than one member of the opposing team.
  • Evasion Clause: The moves Double Team and Minimize are banned.
  • OHKO Clause: The moves Horn Drill, Guillotine, Sheer Cold, and Fissure are banned.
  • Endless Battle Clause: Anything capable of intentionally creating an endless battle is banned.

Deadline: Round 5 ends on Sunday, April 9th at 11:59 GMT-5. Extensions end on Wednesday, April 5th at 11:59 GMT-5.

EviGaro  vs  Staxi --> Staxi has been really popping off this tournament so I can see an upset happening here
NHelioX7  vs  GoldCat --> chad had no idea he was in top 8, chad will turn top bracket mode, chad wins these
TheFranklin  vs  Tockey --> really cool pairing, following the seeding TheFranklin should take this home but I believe in the early meta buff going for Tockey as well tbh

If swiss was kept throughout the whole tour, you would still be out after this.

This is the OLT format. You've the Swiss so you're not out round 1 because of bracket/mon luck then it's single elim so the pseudo-double (triple in OLT) elim isn't wasted.

Yes, lets double the length of the tour. Swiss is so much faster than double elim that it really isn't a viable alternative, unfortunately. Going 2-0 gets you immediately into the top 16 and secures a ton of pts to circuit playoffs compared to top 32.

why are we deciding when luck should affect the game just make it bo1 the whole way through atp
