Tournament Specific Rules
  • This is a standard SV 1v1 tournament.
  • Replays are required for every match in this tournament. Any match reported without replays will be replayed.
  • Timer is absolutely mandatory. You cannot gentleman to playing without timer. If I see you playing without timer, I will turn it on myself.
  • The format for Playoffs and onwards is as follows:
  • The format will be best of five, double elimination.
  • Changing teams between matches is allowed.
  • All matches are to be played on Pokemon Showdown!, either the main server or smogtours.
  • Any tier changes that occur during a round will not be in effect until the following round.
  • VPNs are banned.

(1) happysh vs (16) fake tom numbers
interesting to see happysh as seed 1, they're certainly a grinder but I don't necessarily see them as a tour-winning threat right now (tbf, I'm very out of the loop). In any instance I'd guess they're favored vs their opponent, but this is a pretty hefty bias against the faker by me so take it with a grain of salt

(8) Go greeninja vs (9) Blanched
thank god this guy blanched is back, he's honestly terrible and I smoke him every chance I get but I still hope he wins. it's kinda like rooting for the ugliest dog in a show

(4) RTM vs (13) Spenceair
three predicts in and I'm realizing I'm certainly not qualified enough to do these, I've never heard of spenceair in my life but their name is pretty awesome (much better than swag god/return to monkey). Anyway, as big as RTM's head already is, I think he can handle round 1 of ladder tour. he's probably got this, unless of course his swiss opponent tags him in a winpost and he implodes

(5) Jamez vs (12) recti
I'll go ahead and use my vs bold here, jamez is definitely the more established competitor here and I take some issue with recti's mindset going into matches (mostly just messaging me that they're doomed mid-series) but I'll say it's a toss-up

(2) Miyoko vs (15) Shivam_Z
the classic "I have no idea who either of these people are" but one is 2nd seed and the other is 15th

(7) Nakoruru_XD vs (10) Squirtell 1v1
not to pretend that I have any clue about nakoruru_XD (what prompted them to make this their username?) but I will be bolding squirtell against any opponent for as long as he's in the tour

(3) Bomb21XD vs (14) Kala chasmah
never in my life have I heard of someone qualifying for LT like bomb did, that's my mono-poison goat. anyway, out of respect I'll be predicting him the whole way through (hopefully he does not run into squirtell) but I don't expect he'll be able to get away with that level of swag much deeper in the tour

(6) delemon vs (11) DripLegend
as is well known, I think delemon is the greatest 1v1 player under the age of 20 to ever have existed. however, drip randomly beats them like every single time ever and then gets swept by sword is bored. historically I'd say drip takes it, but whenever I predict for him I'm so embarrassingly and infuriatingly wrong so I will not be doing that
 
happysh vs fake tom - even tho tom has had a good post recently that does not save him from the unstoppable force that IS happysh.

go greeninja vs blanched - blanched is better and i feel like he wants it more/has more solid knowledge than go greeninja

rtm v spenceair rtm wins if he doesnt sabo himself pretty much, wc showed he's good at cleaning up vs inconsistent players so not bolding him is pretty incorrect. if he was kaif id bold spenceair but he isnt


jamez vs recti idk it's funny to say recti wins just to troll james but he's been on a demon lt run before, not sure how his building has shaped up in the tier thus far but i dont feel that recti's teams are the type to skillcheck or knowledge diff james.

miyoko vs shivam miyoko has been on an upswing lately, interesting to see what she brings fs. i only know shivam from the cycle i laddered and i wasn't super impressed but everyone starts somewhere

nakoruru vs squirtell PLEASE let me fight squirtell it sounds so fun :(. nakoruru is a based character so points for that but squirtell 3peat is what i live for.

bomb vs kala glad kala made it and even tho bomb has the willpower to peak ladder with mono poison kala will probably cteam ;w;. if he doesnt cteam bomb i feel like he loses tho

I had planned to do some predictions but more than half of games are played so I will only make one observation: I'm happy to see how ladder tour has called some new people to face 1v1 and offer them an offical space to gain something in this meta and community and looking for PL is a good opportunity. From the games I've seen i can see a lot of the carefree and inexperience of the new players ( i mean in term of prep/building for games), but is fine is normal and i think this thing is learned by playing and time, next rounds we will see it less and less

this post sounds a bit granny, but it's the harsh reality of who I am and I accept it LOL
