Admin Thread | Spreadsheet | Replays and Usages

Semi Finals​

  • Follow all rules listed here.
  • Schedule via Smogon VMs. It's easier for me to make decisions for activity calls when I can actually see what went down with scheduling.
  • If you are unable to schedule with your opponent, please let your managers know ASAP so they can communicate that to me or the other team's managers for a potential substitute.
  • Substitutions may be made after a week has started. When making a substitution, please tag myself, the managers of the opposing team, and all of the players affected by the substitute to ensure that everyone is made aware. Players who have already played in the week or were subbed out in the same week cannot be subbed back in.
  • If a match remains incomplete by the time of the deadline, it will be subject to an activity call.
  • Players are eligible to call act if mid series after challenging their opponent does not accept within 7 minutes.
  • Replays are mandatory. Not only are they useful for confirming wins, they contribute to usage stats and allow the people who couldn't watch the games live to watch them later.

SV Bo7: Lumii vs neomon
now that we're in semifinals we can start talking about head2heads: not only does lumii have a better record, they also already defeated neomon in week 6 when they played against each other. It's no secret that after neomon's impressive start he fell into a bit of a slump, with his only other wins being Kaif and recti. It's been a whole lotta stress for the neomonster and I just simply don't think the rays have the necessary prep backbone to edge it out here, even if we get outsiders to help. Lumii in 5.

SV: Kala chasmah vs Slip
This is an impressively balanced matchup, and an interesting one too. Same record, similar level opponents, it's probably the most unpredictable match this whole tour. I think I'm giving the edge to kala mostly because slip has been on a 3-loss streak, and also lost the head to head; on top of that I can see how much of the sv building effort on rays might end up being spent trying to get neomon the W, so Slip might end up being on their own here. Kala chasmah in 5.

SV: Murm vs Marshme1to
Despite how unliekly it might seem, I'm actually gonna give all three SV to the rhyps. Megarays just have not been hitting there, and it's the main reason why they've struggled so much and were one game away from missing playoffs. Just like slip and neo marsh started off quite hot then went on a losing streak, I assume none of them were able to adapt to all the metagame shifts well til now. Murm in 5.

SS Bo7: Here Comes Team Charm! vs luser
As has been the trend with megarays, luser hit us with a 4-0 into 0-2, losing to charm in the process. Did something happen to the rays midway through the tournament or what? Either way, I actually predict luser to bring it back and get revenge against charm. Somehow I just have the feeling that unlike the struggles in other slots, glitched and luser simply lost a bit of motivation halfway through the tour, and semis is gonna be enough incentive to bring that back. luser in 7.

SS: ihbst vs glitched
And this is quite possibly a no-brainer. One of the two wins against rhyps during week 6, better record vs better opponents, and just simply a stronger player. I will say that I think ihbst has demonstrated of being capable, and could potentially snag an upset in here. glitched in 3.

SM: Elo Bandit vs Iron Crusher
2019 ssnl semifinals ahh MU. Same record, with both of them winning over Freddy and Felucia as two of their wins, and the strength of their other opponents also being quite comparable. Might be the second most unpredictable match of the week. I'll say that the only reason I am giving it to Elo Bandit is because the mons IC brings are exactly the mons Bandit is most accustomed to prepping for, at least that's what I think. Sure, there's no shortage of underused sets and techs but it's not comparable to what the new generation of SM player has been coming up with and loading, and that's the sort of stuff that usually puts Bandit into a corner. Elo Bandit in 4.

ORAS: Synonimous vs torterraxx
I gotta say the upper part of the matchups is way more hype to look at than the bottom one. Sure, torterraxx has been bringing forward an unexpectedly decent performance especially against certain opponents, but I just rate Synon as the better player, and seems to be more motivated not only to win the tour, but also just get a good personal record. I'm purposefully ignoring his embarrassing 3-0 loss against Sword last week, but mostly because that shit did not matter in the slightest and it was played for fun. I still think it's pretty close, though. Synonimous in 5.

BW: dreepy vs Palestine
While the first time around this was a very hype iron man matchup, 7-0 steen vs 5-2 dreepy on the runback doesn't quite hit the same, and dreepy's loss to doug certainly does not help. I feel like after the undefeated record was broken, there was less of an incentive for rhyps to consolidate dreepy's bw slot every week, and with this and the prior loss in the picture, coupled with how much more incentive lumii has to focus on her own slot this week, I just don't see dreepy being able to pull the comeback. Can we talk about the fact that it's so common for people to go x-0 in weeks in 1v1 nowadays? That shit was unheard of before zio's pl6. Anyway. Palestine in 3.

Overall good series hype matchups strong players, it's just missing that "kick" you know what I mean? Something highly meme-able or some drama or anything that just brings juice to the arena. I feel like the win of either one of these teams wouldn't make me feel much emotion one way or the other.

Congrats to the teams that have made it this far. Ofc nobody is guaranteed to win but I just bolded those I think would but def could give an argument for the other.

SV Bo7: eblurb vs Blanched Both great players with a 5-2 record as of the moment. I think it's going to be a close fight with blanched ultimately taking it like in the regular season. Could sway either way tbh, just who wants it more.
SV: Nuxl vs DripLegend Both players are hopefully motivated for reaching semis as managers. Uhhh tbh it could go either way but I feel like drip might want it more idk. same type of match up with blurb vs blanched, the one who wants it more wins.
SV: Fancy1 vs Miyoko Fancy has been on fire and I don't see that stopping soon.
SS Bo7: crow crumbs vs Mishlef Can yall play in a time that I can watch kek. Bird's done well but lost to mish in the regular season. I think bird will catch on with mish's style and how to make him think which will lead them to the win. Mish might overthink picks at times which is what hinders him. Looking forward to this.
SS: Aliss vs xdRudi.exe I'm a huge Aliss fan and they have been on top this whole tour since the beginning.
SM: Rellia vs Waylaid Should be a good match, banking on waylaid to take the win here.
ORAS: Inkreativ vs Irene Revenge for regular season.
BW: Taka vs LpZ I believe in semis Taka even though LPZ won in the head to head match up. As long as metagross or any more isn't spammed again. I won't count out LpZ however with Radu likely helping the team build

SV Bo7: Lumii vs neomon not the best season for both (in comparison to their previous iterations. I just picked who has the better record at this point kek.
SV: Kala chasmah vs Slip Slip feels like the guy to do ok here in the Poffs because I believe he is more experienced.
SV: Murm vs Marshme1to I am a marsh believer but I have a feeling murman can out prep.
SS Bo7: Here Comes Team Charm! vs luser I expect some cooking from both sides, could go either way so I'd wanna watch this.
SS: ihbst vs glitched Experience and overall skill goes to glitched. The only problem I could probably see would be motivation.
SM: Elo Bandit vs Iron Crusher This ultimately depends on how elo performs. Will we see them overcook or just right.
ORAS: Synonimous vs torterraxx
BW: dreepy vs Palestine Since dreepy's loss in their first match up, they have not been on that level that we are used to them with. Palestine is a different beast though which I feel like takes the win in this situation.

The match ups I'd definitely want to see are eblurb vs blanched, nuxl vs driplegend, herecomesteamcharm! vs luser, and elo bandit vs iron crusher

SV Bo7: eblurb (45) vs (55) Blanched - blanched makes it look so easy to make anything work, whereas blurb sticks to consistent structures and tries to win the mental, i think vs blurbs style blanches approach lines up well and i give the almond a slight edge here

SV: Nuxl (40) vs (60) DripLegend - unbeatable user nuxl hasn't won in 2 weeks albeit one was in ss, and the other was in this exact matchup, i hope driplegend can find the motivation to go and get this ring, if he can he wins again

SV: Fancy1 (80) vs (20) Miyoko - pretty hard to argue against a spotless record on fancys part whereas i havent really been convinved by miyokos performances whatsoever

SS Bo7: crow crumbs (50) vs (50) Mishlef - crow came back down to earth but magically dominated in bw last week, whereas mishlef dissapeared for a week to come back stronger.. on the clicking department i will always trust mishlef's opponent more but the approach to the tier/building from mish is an immediate advantage for the thwackeys here

SS: Aliss (90) vs (10) xdRudi.exe - if rudi somehow ends up with a win here i think the barras plot armor is turning around, alices clicking has been convincing me time and time again even after i looked into it in depth, idt it stops here

SM: Rellia (35) vs (65) Waylaid - this matchup is so 2022... both have about the same record, from experience though id trust waylaid to clinch this one out especially after a random sunday stableprince aura speech

ORAS: Inkreativ (75) vs (25) Irene - Ink is historically competent oras player even going so far as making his opponents choke won mu's w his sheer prowess, the advantage is on the barras side here

BW: Taka (45) vs (55) LpZ - both here are just good players and its ultimately gonna come down to their managers/support to have them load the right teams, giving radu the slight edge on that front


Overall similar to what radu said this semi finals lacks some spice, with the whole drama that has been going down it seems motivation in the playerbase has plummeted. The last thing for some of the people around to do is to go and get that last chip before the retirement home. Gl to all my fellow competitors
 
hey yall im back for hopefully the last edition of the alicedictions for this 1v1pl (ill write for finals if we lose but i rly hope we dont lose!! go skewdas) week 6 i went 15-8 and week 7 13-9 for a total of 61-49 i believe? not bad could be better.

RPS Rhyperiors 4-4 Metro Boomin' Megarays
SV Bo7: Lumii vs neomon - so to start both semis r runbacks from week 6 lol. this means almost every pairing we see in this thread happened 2 weeks ago so there's plenty of data to go off in that regard. i bolded lumii over neomon in that week and ended up being correct, so what changed? the main thing is that big neomonster got engaged (!!!) obviously this is a massive buff to his power level/aura, and it will bring forth the return of prime playoffs neomon. if they play in tiebreak i'll bold him again too. on the other hand i think lumii has been spreading herself a bit thin trying to help all the slots she feels she's supposed to cover, in a bit of a whackamole game dreepy finally started losing as soon as she focused more on SV.
SV: Kala chasmah vs Slip - neither of these players have moved me much this season so this feels like a pretty even matchup in which case i will go with kala as i think lumii will go v hard on prep for playoffs and i trust her more than megarays SV i think
SV: Murm vs Marshme1to - bolding murm for similar reason as kala in the sense that i think lumii will be the difference maker, but unlike above i do think there's a gap in skill between the two players here as well.
SS Bo7: Here Comes Team Charm! vs luser - luser won 4 weeks in a row at the start of the season and hasn't won since so his momentum has reached a screeching halt. charm won the h2h mu here last time and is slightly better overall so should be looking to do so again, but i'm similarly excited to actually watch this as i was last time. keep up the good work both
SS: ihbst vs glitched - glitched is way better and seems to have finally found her stride. ihbst has been better than i was giving them credit for last week but the gap still seems very big to me.
SM: Elo Bandit vs Iron Crusher - called this one wrong last time but doubling down here as i still do believe in IC way more than i do in elobandit.
ORAS: Synonimous vs torterraxx - synon just cares a lot more i think. both are pretty good to me and put up respectable enough seasons. i think synon will be more motivated and prep better but oras isn't really a builder gen so might not matter as much. feels close to me
BW: dreepy vs Palestine - palestine does not lose. looking forward to deg and lumii both cooking as hard as possible for this pairing to see who takes it.

overall: most of these pairings feel very close/could go either way, with the exception of glitched ihbst. pretty excited to watch most of them as well, but we will really have to see how much fire either of these teams can cook up in SV to keep it interesting there. think this series could very well go to tb, wonder what we'd see there; pale feels like the super obvious pick from megarays but idk what rhyperiors would go with. could see a second sv if they sweep there, or if any of bandit/synon/charm defeat their oppo for the 2nd time in a row that might be a smart pick. looking forward to the matches either way

The curse has finally been broken. I've never cried for anything 1v1 related before this, but being able to do this as the last pick on the pl6 rhyps after getting retained twice and having lost in semis twice, especially against this opponent, is probably the peak of anything I've done in 1v1.

One more guys, we've got this.
