come on gamers where are the predicts??

Twinleaf Turboblaze (4) vs. Spacial Week (4)

SV: ratpacker vs. Enzonana.
ratpacker lost in ND last week and has shuffled to SV where I think he's a better fit. Last year is old news at this point but he did have a phenomenal year in SV in 2024 and Enzo is solid but I think packer's just a class above.

SV: Feyy vs. Charlotte
Despite being a pretty quiet presence in DOU as of late, Feyy looked very in control in their win against FB last week. Was pretty exciting to watch and I'm gonna give them the edge against Char. Char is strong and I love that she often incorporates trending VGC ideas into her teams, however some will be quick to point out that VGC expert Feyy is currently an NPA superstar, so surely that won't work here.

ND: LogIce vs. Voltix
LogIce was one of the best NatDex players last year, however he looked like he struggled a good bit into Eragon last week, and the team selection didn't wow me either. Voltix won last week's game on turn 1 with an impressive covert cloak taunt Heatran. If he rolls up with another mazar tier tech this week I fear LogIce will have it rough.

ND: laptops vs. Akaru Kokuyo
laptops won several games with the infamous Charizard Stakataka sun last derby and I think his playstyle is just very well suited to the explosive environment found in ND, plus he's teamed up with his buddy ratpacker who will be sure to supply him with a "heat squad". Akaru played a straightforward game to win last week so I don't mean to write this as a slight on them, but I do trust laptops to convert more reps in the tier to a win here.

UU: Hys vs. Actuarily
This is the tier I know the least about so honestly I don't have a ton of reasoning - I just think these are two strong players and I expect the records to end 1-1 after this week.

DLC: Cepha vs. John1240
Neither of these players loaded Stantler last week, a decision that truly puzzles me. Cepha's game looked like he was falling behind but Torchic managed to clutch up the endgame at a disadvantaged score. I don't think John made any glaring mistakes in his week 1 game, but he did not have a Stantler and I punished that choice.

DPP: Hugo vs. DaAwesomeDude1
DPP Hugo is interesting. Don't think I've ever seen an actual game from him in this tier, and from what I know about Hugo I know he generally prefers more stylized teams than what you can get away with in DPP. Dad1 is arguably the best Oldgens player in the community right now and DPP is his bread and butter. I wouldn't bold against him without really good reason.

ADV: NinjaSnapple vs. Amaranth
Both of these players are starting at 0-1. However, I think Amaranth's teams and play from last week showed a stronger understanding of the post-boom metagame than Ninja's.

Gallop of the Gods (6) vs. Red Spect Redemption (2)
SV: Flying Beagle vs. srvoltmike
I was a huge fan of mike's team from last week. Spinner Bronzong into WP tera Grass Diancie? Really cool, and he played the game quite well to boot. FB also had an interesting pick last week in (Specs? don't quote me on that) Primarina on a Roaring Moon tailwind team, but in the actual game there were some issues with the long term planning that lead their team to fall like dominoes to Feyy's Landorus.

ND: eragon vs. Nails
I think this is the highlight of the week and I kinda debated who to bold for a while but I've decided to not buy the dip on Nails this week. eragon is pretty much the best national dex player. My understanding is he won 2 of the 3 natdex circuit tours last year and was a game away from winning the circuit playoff. He also looked really, really good in game last week. Nails played his ass off against what was a pretty blatant counterteam from Frixel last week, and while I do believe he won't walk into the same teambuilder issue this week, I do think his grasp on the tier isn't as strong as eragon's, even if the perspective is more unique than most other top players of the tier.

ND: EatFoods vs. Terekusai
EatFoods pulled the upset over Ratpacker last week which was quite impressive. I do think there was some gameplay that could be polished up going into this week but that's a nice win to have on your record regardless. The team she used was pretty solid as well so no issues there. Terekusai ended up being the sole player to claim a win in w1 with the Zard triple Electrics team, but similarly I noticed some gameplay issues that could be improved upon.

DUU: Nido-Rus vs. fespy
Kinda the same reasoning as bolding Actuarily in the other set. I think Nido is too creative of a builder and strong of a player to start 0-2. Don't worry fespy fans...

DLC: HSOWA vs. Paraplegic
Neither of these players looked particularly strong last week. HSOWA managed to take an early lead with Snow guys but got swept by endgame Torchic while Para ended up losing pretty convincingly to VolcaronaVGC subbing in for Gasai, who presumably has 0 DLC experience. Still, para is plays more doubles so he gets bolded.

DPP: sir jelloton vs. Kegged
Fespy managed to beat bagel on the alt last week with a timely hidden power crit on bagel's Rhyperior in a matchup that was already quite straightforward for him, but I'm refusing to buy the stocks just yet. Jello didn't really get to play last week as laptop's CB Salamence lead had heat seeking goggles and his Empoleon decided to send Jello to the freezer. Hope to see him have a better showing this week and even out the pool a bit.

ADV: Grandmas Cookin vs. Yoda2798
Two 1-0s in ADV going at it this week, I'm really excited for this one. Yoda shocked me last week with an impressive win over SMB despite my initial impression of a lack of expertise in the tier. However, Gma has historically been one of the stronger, if not the strongest ADV player around and last week was a great showcase of that reputation.

Hope more people end up dropping some predictions even if they don't come with a word salad like mine. If you made it to the end of this post let me know what your favorite alcoholic beverage is and maybe it'll be one of my nicknames when I go to fight Frixel on Sunday.

SV.png

Winner: EternalSnowman (Replay)

No Response to Interview Questions. Enjoy your trip to Japan!

Highlights:
  • Despite Diancie being burned, it managed to set up Trick Room. The opposing Raging Bolt took advantage and used Calm Mind (2x).
  • Once Trick Room ended, the opponent went on the offensive. Amoonguss avoided Sandsear Storm and narrowly survived Dragon Pulse. It then put Raging Bolt to sleep with Spore, turning the match around for Esm.

ND.png

Winner: Frixel (Replay)

No Response to Interview Questions.

Highlights:
  • Both players brought Tapu Koko + Iron Hands to the match. Frixel instantly lost Dragapult, but turned the match in his favor by setting up Tailwind and having Heatran use Eruption (boosted from Terastallization and the opposition's Sun).
  • Frixel safely brought out Tapu Koko and avoided losing Chien Pao to Mega Charizard Y. The opponent sent out Raging Bolt the following turn. Chien Pao's Sucker Punch finished off Raging Bolt and Tapu Koko did the same to Mega Charizard Y.
  • Heatran took down Flutter Mane, securing Frixel's victory.

Winner: MADARAAAA (Replay)

Congratulations on being one of the winners of the Best Games of the Week poll. If you have a moment, I’d like to ask you a few questions.

Why DUU?

Thank you! Duu because I always had fun playing it last year, I can use some pokemons I love, I wanted to switch from sv dou which is my prince format.

Were there any key moments in your match that stood out to you?
In the match vs actuarily his hisuian arcanine was a problem for my team, the key turn was surely when I used tera steel keldeo surviving espeed+hurricane and killing h-arcanine with muddy water, after that I felt good chances to win.

How do you feel about your upcoming matches?
There are only six teams this year so DUU pool is full of competent players and will be exciting to prepare and play against all of them.

Anything you'd like to add—perhaps a shoutout?
A shootout to Hys who tested a lot with me during this week (happily we both won our games) and to amazing ICE RIDERS teammates!

Bonus Question: What question would you like me to ask future winners?
I honestly don't have particular questions to do to new winners :P

Thank you, MADARAAAA , for your response! Good luck!

Winner: volcaronavgc (Replay)

Congratulations on being one of the winners of the Best Games of the Week poll. If you have a moment, I’d like to ask you a few questions.

Why DLC?

I substituted in last minute to doubles lc so had to just wing it but luckily my team had a team ready.

Were there any key moments in your match that stood out to you?
The muddy water hitting litten when most people wouldve expected a sludge bomb double into foongus.

How do you feel about your upcoming matches?
Not too stressed atm im just kinda going at it week by week with a good team behind me so should be fine.

Anything you'd like to add—perhaps a shoutout?
More of a shoutout to the cutters in general over anything for giving me a chance to play at this level

Bonus Question: What question would you like me to ask future winners?
Not really anything on mind

Thank you, volcaronavgc , for your response! Good luck!

  • Kegged's Scizor and Bagel's Rhyperior have a standoff. Raikou showed up in Turn 9 after Mew used EXPLOSION! Raikou puts Rhyperior to rest.

ADV.png

Winner: Yoda2798 (G1 G2 G3)

Congratulations on being one of the winners of the Best Games of the Week poll. If you have a moment, I’d like to ask you a few questions.

Why ADV?

With all the SV tours (particularly OSDT) going on I was looking to play something else in Derby. I don't have much experience or interest in the other tiers so wanted to do more of either of ADV or DPP, both of which I've dabbled in previously for the OldGens Circuit but haven't really dived deep into either yet.

Were there any key moments in your match that stood out to you?
Game 1
there were a few key moments early on where I got crit (my Zapdos turn 1 where even if it was slower SMB had went for Thunder Wave so it definitely could have gotten an attack off but was KOed instead, and my Swampert turn 2 where it was put pretty low when it otherwise would have been healthy) which set me back a lot. Turns 6 and 7 I could have maybe made different plays but I don't think there was a clear best choice at that point with the number of options SMB had left available compared to my limited resources.
Game 2 I think the first couple of turns were pretty important again (though this time not due to RNG), SMB's lead was scary as I knew Raikou would be able to get up a Calm Mind and subsequently threaten a likely KO on my Tauros, while Zapdos couldn't do too much either, so I made the bold decision to actually double switch both my leads to Tyranitar and Celebi. This let me knock out the Raikou with Earthquake, while also finding room for Celebi to set up a Calm Mind of its own to put pressure on SMB. This momentum swing put me in the driver's seat, and with Celebi's pressure I was able to take an early KO on Aerodactyl, leaving my still completely healthy Zapdos and Arcanine to clean up.
Game 3 went back to an early key (RNG) moment, with my Zapdos being the faster of the two and getting a crit on what would otherwise maybe be a roll on SMB's Zapdos, giving me an early lead. Turn 3 seen another critical hit in my favour, with SMB's Metagross going down on again what may have been a roll depending on spreads, putting me at a 6-4 advantage. Turn 4 I knew with a second Intimidate my Zapdos should live a hit from Aerodactyl, which it did and picked up a big KO in return, giving me a now 6-3 lead but with SMB's Calm Mind Suicune beginning to look scary. I begin looking to set up my Calm Mind Celebi to beat Suicune, though in the time it takes to get going Suicune goes through most of my team in the other slot, with a couple of Hydro Pump misses along the way balanced out with an important Fire Blast miss on SMB's Celebi. Turn 10 I think was a pivotal turn, as I was fearing that SMB would either switch Celebi out (or attempt a double Protect) to avoid taking a Double Edge that should ensure my Celebi comfortably wins the mirror, but instead he keeps it out to preserve Tauros for a hit on my own Celebi. After KOing SMB's Celebi on the following turn, I had hoped the Tauros would go down to a turn of sandstorm damage but unfortunately that was not the case, however my healthy Celebi could still tank a hit to then beat SMB's Suicune 1v1. If instead SMB had switched out his +1 Celebi on turn 10 then its possible it could come back in and setup then crit my Celebi to win, or especially if he had successfully gotten a double Protect then he would have a strong chance to win with both a healthy +1 Celebi on the field and Tauros alive in the back, but he decided not go for that, perhaps due to the possibility of me targeting into Suicune instead of Celebi. Despite the large lead I accumulated early on the game turned into a messy endgame, so while I'm not sure exactly what I should have done differently, there definitely must have been some alternate routes I could have taken for a cleaner conversion.

How do you feel about your upcoming matches?
I'm most excited to play Grandmas Cookin this week who is probably the strongest player in the pool, but I feel confident I can beat anyone.

Anything you'd like to add—perhaps a shoutout?
Shoutouts to fespy 's alt Kegged for being the GOAT, also shoutouts to NinjaSnapple for helping teach me ADV.

Bonus Question: What question would you like me to ask future winners?
How do you pronounce GIF?

Thank you, Yoda2798 , for your response! I should've let you known that I was expecting 1 or 2 sentences for each question. Anyways, good luck!
