  • Schedule via Smogon VMs. It's easier for us to make decisions for activity calls when we can actually see what went down with scheduling.​
  • If you are unable to schedule with your opponent, please let your managers know ASAP so they can communicate that to us or the other team's managers for a potential substitute.​
  • When making a substitution, please tag myself, the managers of the opposing team, and all of the players affected by the substitute to ensure that everyone is made aware. Players who have already played in the week or were subbed out in the same week cannot be subbed back in.​
  • If a match remains incomplete by the time of the deadline, it will be subject to an activity call.​
  • Replays are mandatory. Not only are they useful for confirming wins, but they also contribute to usage stats and allow the people who couldn't watch the games live to watch them later.​
  • To managers: Please send us your lineups in the same format that we used to post pairings. It makes it much easier to post future rounds more quickly.​
  • All formats are Best of 3 with the exception of RBY 1v1 which is a Best of 7.​
  • Please note in NC97, No two Pokémon can be asleep, if you put multiple to sleep, you lose.​

RBY 1v1: Blanched vs Urfgurgle - bigger react score = better player. it's true.
RBY Little Cup: King Billu vs Medeia - when billu beat me in lc i placed a curse on him that'll give him infinite bad luck in every future little cup game.
Nintendo Cup 1997: Ranshiin vs vs DerpySuX - i think derpy has the prep advantage with noodle on their team but this is still definitely a really close mu. 45:55 at most
RBY STABmons: Acetylaldehyde vs Volk - volk is THE stabmons guy and is the main reason the tier is in this tournament in the first place lol. i think their experience clearly outclasses ace's here
Stadium OU: gastlies vs kjdaas - dumbass unserious gastlies stands no change against gjdaas. i actually don't know how much experience kjdaas has in this tier but i presume she'll get some help from sabel?
RBY SU: Amaranth vs SaDiSTiCNarwhal - fire mu and very even. definitely a must-watch

Nintendo Cup: 1997 Clas vs Hayburner - i don't think hayburner has played this format at all lmao but i'm excited to see what he does
RBY STABmons: Cao Jie vs Mana - better player i think
Stadium OU: Toxin Boost vs Smudge - really thought larry would be playing stadium but smudge isn't a bad player either. toxin has so much more experience though so i think he's the safer pick
RBY SU: DD Joe vs Larry - my prediction is that larry will cancer around half way thru the tour bc rby sucks (allegedly) but i'd love to be proven wrong. my main prediction though is that dd joe gets some crazy luck

I've got some time tonight so I figured I'd post some highlight games to watch out for this week. Never mind the fact that it's Thursday (or Friday) already. I'm going to try to pick like 2–4 games to cover each week if I have the time, just to keep the hype up a bit.

Stadium OU: Mikon vs NotVeryCake
In case you didn't know, if we define RBY OMs as all RBY tiers that aren't Ubers–ZU, Cake is actually the most decorated RBY OM player. Don't believe me? Check the Hall of Champions. And while it was nearly a year ago, she is coming off a win in Stadium OU Open III, which is the most recent notable tournament featuring the tier. Her victories, in my opinion, largely come from straightforward tier optimizations and avoiding gimmicky sets and other distractions in the builder. Defeating Cake will require substantially superior play or at least some minor paradigm shifts in teambuilding.
Mikon is largely known for specializing in Random Battles with the occasionally RBY OU laddering thrown in there. At least that's what I know her for nowadays. However, Mikon does have a small passion for Stadium OU, and she is notable for being one of the only people who has tried to push the meta and theorycraft for it. I'm expecting her spark for innovation to bring out some creative and solid builds. Should be a tight set.

RBY SU: Amaranth vs SaDiSTiCNarwhal
The RBY SU player pool shaped up very differently than I expected. While I am sad to see that many SU mainers were overlooked or benched, it is very cool to see some of OU's elite players come out in support for the tier. Going forward, I'm going to try to avoid highlighting matches in which my teammates are playing, but come on now, how am I supposed to ignore this SPL-caliber matchup in a tier that has Wartortle in it? With both of these players being fairly new to the tier, at least to my knowledge, I'm excited to see what they come up with and how they approach the gameplay of the tier. I'm sure SU players will be scrutinizing this game intensely.

RBY 1v1: Elo Bandit vs McMeghan
Fun fact, Elo Bandit is the only member of the RBY 1v1 Council (yes, that's real) that is not present on the Red Rhydons. He is one of the most prominent players pushing the RBY 1v1 metagame, being the author of many of RBY 1v1's valuable and prominent resources. He also is the winner of RBY 1v1 Cup I, which I believe is the second most recent RBY 1v1 forum tour. I think we'll see some interesting and creative stuff from him.
I don't think McMeghan needs much of an introduction. I don't really play any of the tiers he most often plays, so I can't point to specific achievements easily, but I do know his name. It's awesome to have to have him here playing in this tournament. This'll be a knock out to watch.

RBY STABmons: Cao Jie vs Mana
Enigami vs YBW might end up being the better set if I'm being honest, but this set caught my eye simply because I really had no idea who was going to start for STABmons for either of these two teams. This was a pleasant surprise. I dug around STABmons history and I couldn't find any examples of Cao Jie playing a game of STABmons in tournament. That said, Cao Jie has a long history of pinch-hitting in miscellaneous RBY tiers, and he has put together some interesting stuff under pressure. I'm sure he'll come up with something novel. Likewise, I don't believe that Mana has any prior experience with STABmons whatsoever. But I think the fresh perspective of a talented player has the potential to produce a lot of development for the tier. I'm very excited to see what these new players come up with and I will study their games, as with all STABmons games, very closely.
