spacials:
win or tie = in
if loss, qualify with
-spects AND turboblaze lose or tie
-tachyons lose while spacials maintain higher BD than turboblaze // ice riders lose while spacials maintain higher BD than one of spects or ice riders

ice riders
win or tie = in
if loss, qualify with
-maintaining higher BD than spects WHILE either gods lose OR turboblaze beat tachyons and maintain lower BD
-spects achieve higher BD, but gods and tachyons lose while turboblaze maintains lower BD

gods
win = in
if tie, qualify with
-one of spects or turboblaze lose or tie their series
-if spects and turboblaze win their series, the gods need higher BD than one of: spects, turboblaze, ice riders. equal BD would force a tiebreaker
if loss, qualify with
-spects and turboblaze losing
-the spects and turboblaze series end in ties while the gods maintain higher than -4 BD

Week 4 Interviews and Poll Results

Congratulations to the winners! SMB in particular has managed to make a hat-trick and may end up being the player with the most Derby points! We had a lot of interesting teams: Eragon with Enamorus (SV), Ratpacker with Snow (ND), Nido-Rus with Sand although it was sadly not used (UU), GasaiiYunoSan with Shroodle (LC), and Bagel with Manaphy (DPP). After the final, there will be one last poll to vote for the best matches of the entire tournament. This week is the last week before playoffs, so good luck to everyone!

1 ) How did you prepare for your match?
I wanted to use a really fast team that could get over a lot of the mid-fast pokemon I had seen staraptor use a bunch without speed control. I found some cool calcs with life orb deoxys and enamorus is a funny pokemon.
2 ) Were there any key moments that stood out to you?
Enamorus just got a lot of free turns to click strong buttons and just dealt a lot of damage across the board, giving me a fairly large early lead.
3) What are you looking forward to in the upcoming Pokemon game?
more pokemon/megas/forms/whatever! I like finding uses for basically anything in the game and always appreciate more new options added to the toolbox.
4) What’s your favorite Pokemon? Why this Pokemon?
Roaring Moon. I've always liked mega salamence and when roaring moon came out I thought the design theming was really cool. As the generation went on I also realized I really liked using it as a bulky/fast tailwind option and it has helped me on many teams!

1 ) How did you prepare for your match?
Nails suggested to play rfn and then followed it up with a threat to show up with a broken goth team later this week should I refuse. I was thus faced with the difficult decision of either denying prep to both of us or giving myself the time to practice matchups. I then remembered the words of a wise DOU council member who once told me "Nails just shows with whatever the hell he wants to play this week" and the prep we did with jrl in scl for nails where the conclusion was to just show up with bulky snow + amoonguss. I already had a public bulky snow team which Nails wouldn't have time to find and I just needed to convince my managers that prepping in this scenario was kinda useless when my teams are public and my opponent has three replays.
2 ) Were there any key moments that stood out to you?
Turn 2 when I had to be aggressive having obtained a very favorable position and I had to play around either follow me + specs moonblast or trick room + protect or trick room + moonblast. Also the turn where nails reveals sandsear storm, as him having no spread ground move would have definitely lost him the game on the spot.
3) What are you looking forward to in the upcoming Pokemon game?
I don't have a switch so I'm not gonna play it. I'd rather just buy another metrovania wannabe.
4) What’s your favorite Pokemon? Why this Pokemon?
My favorite pokemon are unown and vespiquen because I like the Pokemon 3 movie and Vespiquen slays.

1 ) How did you prepare for your match?
For this week I mostly just wanted to try something different- looking at my previous three weeks, I'd brought bonnet + thund three times in a row, so I expected madaraaaa to potentially prep for that.
2 ) Were there any key moments that stood out to you?
To be entirely honest I feel like the match was somewhat anticlimatic. I was hoping to get houndstone/hippo to put in some work but moltres-g pretty much cleaned up the game early on. The most notable turn was probably when I messed up and let necrozma set TR and activate WP on the same turn- I definitely should've expected WP necrozma given madara's scarf zap/necro lead. I even had a guaranteed KO on necrozma with fiery wrath + pollen puff double target, but I got greedy and went for side puff. Fortunately I didn't get punished for it since I got to reverse TR with my own mew on the following turn, but definitely a scary moment.
3) What are you looking forward to in the upcoming Pokemon game?
Just having megas back in a mainline game would be really fun. From a competitive perspective as well, I feel like megas have been the most straightforward to balance around since they can be treated as individual mons and tiered/banned appropriately.
4) What’s your favorite Pokemon? Why this Pokemon?
Tough question. Nidoking/queen are actually not my favorite pokemon - my username came from me really liking sheer force + LO mons back when I started playing on showdown. My favorite is probably still torterra- Absolute top tier design and love its pokedex entries

1 ) How did you prepare for your match?
I knew I wanted to click a strong spread water move and ended up looking at manaphy and wanting to try and make it work. I remembered an old surfspam team from the goat lolk featuring toxicroak and thought it might actually be a solid idea.
2 ) Were there any key moments that stood out to you?
My Raikou got to put a lot of work in when dad1 could have potentially removed it earlier. Tbolt mew was also scary to see as it was never something I thought about but luckily manaphy was kinda goated at took it like a champ.
3) What are you looking forward to in the upcoming Pokemon game?
Ngl I haven't paid attention to much of the news but the announcement of champions makes me hope that pokemon is going to make it easier for people to get into competitive (coping maybe)

1 ) How did you prepare for your match?
I didn't really do a thorough preparation, now that I have some more experience in adv I wanted to use things I hadn't used yet like blissey, flygon, moltres, registeel, exeggutor.... I really think the teams turned out well despite having introduced so many new elements.
2 ) Were there any key moments that stood out to you?
Apart from new pokemon, I also tried other items, one of them was white herb on aerodactyl which prevented icy wind from slowing itdown and losing against zapdos.
3) What are you looking forward to in the upcoming Pokemon game?
I don't play them, so in terms of ingame nothing specific, unless you could play competitive from the phone or something like that. More pokemon with shadow tag would be nice too.
4) What’s your favorite Pokemon? Why this Pokemon?
Sableye. I've always liked the design and it was the face of stall in oras when I first started playing.
The recent Nintendo Direct presented a couple of upcoming racing games. I expected Mario Kart World to win by a larger margin, but some players seem to be more excited about other games. I grew up with Sonic Riders, so I'm really excited about Sonic Racing CrossWorlds. On the other hand, I never played the first Kirby racing game, but I heard pretty good things about it. I hope the new game lives up to the expectations! Now, I have no idea what games are in the "Others" category, but I suppose the more games the merrier.

I feel like I have been waiting ages for the next Marvel movie. The idea behind this poll is from the "Thanos did nothing wrong" meme. Magneto and Shadow are victims, and some fans would say that they were justified for their actions. Frankenstein is actually not the name of the monster, but the mad scientist who created him. The so-called monster attempted to be human-like, but the society shunned him. The most popular answer was Tom. One can argue that Tom, as a cat, was just doing his duty of getting rid of mice. However, Tom and Jerry's relationship is more complex than that. The pair share a geniune friendship that has lasted throughout the decades.
