4 $weepers?! -An OU RMT-

My Team Has Gotten Me Many More Wins Than Losses!

And that was my goal. My team has a lead, 4 sweepers, and a tank. I have power > defense. Not much to say here, but here's my team at a glance:

Gengar64 (Gengar) (F) @ Black Sludge
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 6 Def/252 Spd/252 SAtk
Modest nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Destiny Bond
- Energy Ball / Taunt
- Shadow Ball
- Thunderbolt
---
Gengar lead? Yeah, nobody expects it. This set I've made myself and it works quite well. The idea is to kill the lead and then when they try getting that Gengar killed, you use Destiny Bond to take it with you. Black Sludge is for recovery if I want to sweep, and it also fairs well for trick users to change it from a lead to a sweeper.

Machamp64 (Machamp) (F) @ Leftovers
Ability: No Guard
EVs: 252 HP/252 Atk/6 Def
Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Bulk Up
- Dynamicpunch
- Earthquake
- Stone Edge
---
Machamp's attack is great, but what about his bulkiness? So I have a Bulk Up abuser which is actually both a tank and a sweeper. As I believe, nothing in ou resists every one of these attacks, so I can't be stopped at times. This is my regular "T-Wave switch-in" because trick room teams and because of already mediocre speed. Some pokemon just can't hurt this thing, like Gengar, so it's a free bulk up. Then I'm set!

Empoleon64 (Empoleon) (F) @ Petaya Berry
Ability: Torrent
EVs: 14 HP/12 Def/232 Spd/252 SAtk
Modest nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Agility
- Ice Beam
- Substitute
- Surf
---
Empoleon is SO underestimated. So many things have to switch because of this. During that switch, I agility. Then the sweep is already started. Sub to activate the petaya berry, than surf out pretty much everything that moves. Vaporeon seems to be less common these days, so I can just sweep with nothing to stop me. This is usually the MVP of my team.

Jolteon64 (Jolteon) (F) @ Focus Sash
Ability: Volt Absorb
EVs: 6 Def/252 Spd/252 SAtk
Modest nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- Shadow Ball
- Thunderbolt
- Roar
---
Three things you're probably going to critisize the most are: Focus Sash, Modest nature, and roar. Lemme explain. Focus Sash so I can roar away sweepers with boosts such as Gyarados after some DDances. Then (hoping there's no SR) I switch during a DDance, they use EQ, and living with focus sash, I roar. Also an annoyance to BP teams. Modest is just for a more powerful punch (I don't think I'll come across too many Aerodactyl attackers or Jolteon sweepers very often will I?).

Gliscor64 (Gliscor) (F) @ Liechi Berry
Ability: Sand Veil
EVs: 252 Atk/252 Spd/6 SDef
Jolly nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Swords Dance
- Taunt
- Earthquake
- Stone Edge
---
This was originally the spot with Forretress for SR and Toxic Spikes support, but it just didn't do anything. Sure it got SR and Toxic Spikes down good, but it didn't seem to make a difference. Gliscor, however, is like the last pokemon I ever use, and ends up killing their last Poke. Taunt is for CM poke's and entry hazard abusers. Swords Dance might be replaced, however it sure does scare people into switching in their best walls (which are easily killed).

Dragonite64 (Dragonite) (F) @ Life Orb
Ability: Inner Focus
EVs: 252 Atk/6 Def/252 Spd
Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Earthquake
- Outrage
- Superpower
- Dragon Dance
---
My last sweeper. Origianally CBnite, it was always locked into a move resisted by an opponent, and is too slow. However with DDance, I can scare people so bad. After two DDances, nobody will outspeed me and nothing can wall me. I'm indestructable!

So that is my team (sorry about getting description lazy at the end) and please rate from 1/10 at the end of your responces if you can. Thanks!

If the opponent has a Choice Scarfed Tyranitar to switch in to your Gengar, then it can be OHKO'd by Crunch or Taunt. Having a Tyranitar appear will incur a Sandstorm, ruining your Jolteon's Focus Sash... not to mention the Stealth Rocks that can be set up by faster leads like Azelf and Aerodactyl. This is why I do not believe your strategy for Jolteon will work. Roar's better on bulkier Pokemon anyway, 'cause they can take a hit.

Lol you would roar a DD gyarados, I don't know....maybe a thunderbolt might be better?

Yeah i really don't like the Gengar lead since rocks are almost always going up and then your jolts item is usless. Meta also beats you hands down. Give Machamp payback so that you can hit Ghosts that are immune to DP. Earthquake is rudundent on Machamp anyways as steel and rock are all owned my DP and Fire attacks are taken care of with Stone edge.

Salamence does your dragonites DD set better so use him because it has highier speed and attack than Dragonite.

Drop Gliscor for a scarf Latias to revenge dangerous DD'ers etc.

Then swap Emp for a Gyarados, It can set up faster than Empoleon and can be a more dangerous threat.

Make Jolt specs so that he can weaken your opponients team so that Salamence or Gyarados can sweep. Jolt also gets a free switch into electric attacks dircedted at Gyarados.

Just my 2 cents

I got your PM for a rate, here it goes. You have pretty good team synergy.

I like your Gengar lead. It is faster than all commonly used Stealth Rock leads bar Aerodactyl, Azelf, and Infernape (due to Modest nature). Taunt is good, but Energy Ball has a high chance of OHKOing Swampert, who is a very common lead. It's opinion and there isn't a wrong choice between the two. I think Life Orb would benifit you more than Black Sludge because he is a fragile pokemon in general and can't take many hits. With Life Orb, he will always OHKO Swamperts with Energy Ball.

Contrary to what you say, Gengar can hurt Machamp. A Life Orb version will always 2HKO with Shadow Ball. I would change Earthquake to Payback. Empoleon is good.

Jolteon has problems, major ones at that. Focus Sash is absolutely useless if Stealth Rock, Spikes, Sandstorm, or Hail is in play, and you will normally find the first one in most battles. I would use a Life Orb set. He's fast, he's powerful, he's deadly. Roar is also an issue as it negates his speed being negative priority. He will get hit, and most likely die before using it. Switch it out for Charge Beam or Signal Beam, preferably the first. He has a high chance of recieving a Sp Atk boost, and with his speed, he will abuse it. Signal Beam is mostly for Celebi, but he already has Shadow Ball. Switch his nature to Timid as you want all the speed possible.

On Gliscor put the Def EVs into Atk. On Dragonite, I would switch Superpower for Fire Punch. Now you won't lose attack and need to DD again, and you can hit Bronzong who resist/ is immune to both your attacks. If not Fire Punch, use Roost.

Overall it isn't bad. Synergy is good, but a few things need fixing, most notably Jolteon. Edit the changes into this thread so others can keep rating. PM me if you have questions or comments. Hope I helped. Have fun battling!

Jolteon absolutely needs max speed EV's, as without them 252 Spe Adamant Gyarados would outspeed you.

Gengar wants a sash to survive an encounter against Azelf, Aerodactyl, and Starmie, not to mention slower but bulkier leads like Metagross and Heatran. That is, unless you wish to Destiny Bond first turn, which kind of ruins the purpose of the Gengar lead. To be honest, the Gengar lead was pretty popular at the start of the D/P era, where a simple set with Hypnosis / Shadow Ball / Destiny Bond / Filler was the norm. However, this is pretty unreliable now thanks to a 60% accuracy Hypnosis, Metagross' Bullet Punch, and Scarftar.

Any reason why you would need a Leichi berry on Gliscor? Keep in mind that Gliscor functions better as a Wallbreaker/Baton Passer as opposed to a sweeper, due to it's relatively low base speed compared to other sweepers and it's relatively low attack.

I would recommend a Gliscor with this set:

Gliscor (F) @ Lefties
Ability: Sand Veil
EVs: 252 HP/216 Spd/40 Def
Jolly nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Roost
- Taunt
- Earthquake
- Stealth Rock

This allows you to wallbreak, heal, and still do damage, as well as set up Stealth rocks which your team so desperately needs. 216 Spe outruns Jolly Lucario, whom you can then EQ to death.

Dragonite looks good, to an extent. Just keep in mind that no sane player would allow you to get up two dragon dances, so be aware if something that looks harmless comes in, as most of the time it will kill you. Examples include Scarfed Latias, Starmie, Flygon, and P-Z.

Synergy is pretty nice. The only thing that I see right off the bat is that Vaporeon, who walls your Empoleon, also gives troubles to Gliscor and Dragonite with Ice Beams. Keep that in mind and make sure Jolteon is alive, or a Vaporeon would totally wreck your team.

Good luck with your team!
