Conkeldurr wields its enormous 140 Attack alongside the evergreen "BoltBeam" combo to rip apart defensive cores like little else. When boosted by both Life Orb and Iron Fist, Drain Punch can OHKO the two most common defensive Pokemon in the tier, Ferrothorn and Tyranitar, while restoring any Life Orb recoil and other residual damage. Ice Punch and Thunder Punch function as excellent coverage moves which allows Conkeldurr to hit foes like Gliscor, Dragonite, Starmie, Jellicent super-effectively who either resist or are immune to it's STAB options. Mach Punch allows conkeldurr to pick off fighting weak pokemon like Tyranitar, Excadrill, Terrakion and other weakened foes as well as to get some last damage on the foe before fainting, putting common revenge killers such as Keldeo and Thundurus-T into range of Conkeldurr's teammates, such as the faster Latios. Breaking Alakazam's Focus Sash is also appreciated by Conkeldurr's teammates who could not otherwise OHKO Alakazam.

Life Orb and Fist Plate are two commonly used items with their own advantages; Life Orb's powerful boost to Conkeldurr's coverage options allows it to cleanly OHKO common checks such as Tentacruel, Thundurus-T, and Landorus-T after its Intimidate. If Conkeldurr can more reliably be supported against these threats and pivoted into the battlefield, then Fist Plate provides a no-drawback boost to Conkeldurr's primary attacks.Iron Fist is the ability of choice boosting all of Conkeldurr's punching-based attacks. Maximizing special bulk let's Conkeldurr tank some special moves even with it's lackluster special defense. The given EVs allow conkeldurr to live a Hydro Pump from a Choice Scarf Keldeo from full health in rain.An Adamant nature with 236 attack EVs is used to further elevate Conkeldurr's offensive presence.

Pivots like Landorus-T, Rotom-W, and Jirachi play a crucial role in granting Conkeldurr safe entry opportunities, allowing it to avoid faster threats or strong special attackers which threaten conkeldurr . Landorus-T softens physical foes with Intimidate and uses U-turn to maintain momentum, while Rotom-W utilizes Volt Switch to pivot and bring Conkeldurr in against targets it can pressure, such as Ferrothorn. These pivots are essential for keeping up offense and ensuring Conkeldurr gets in without taking unnecessary damage. However Jirachi is Conkeldurr's best and most prominent partner. In addition to its capability to check and force out Psychic-types with its excellent typing and U-turn, Jirachi can cripple its answers that are also potential roadblocks to Conkeldurr such as Skarmory, Forretress, and Tentacruel by using Trick to give them a Choice Scarf or by paralyzing them with Thunder or Body Slam. Healing Wish is also an incredible boon to Conkeldurr, giving it a second chance at a sweep after it has weakened its own answers in its first sweep attempt. Even though pivots give Conkeldurr plenty of entry opportunities, Entry Hazards like spikes can significantly limit the number of times it can switch in safely. Starmie helps alleviate this issue by removing hazards with Rapid Spin while also pressuring key physical walls like Skarmory, making it easier for Conkeldurr to stay healthy and stay threatening throughout the match. Starmie also has the tendency to invite Tyranitar and Ferrothorn onto the field, which is a prime opportunity for Conkeldurr. Latias offers crucial support to Conkeldurr by checking dangerous rain-boosted threats like Keldeo and Thundurus-T, which can otherwise overwhelm it with speed and powerful special attacks. It also brings strong offensive presence with Draco Meteor and can use Healing Wish like Jirachi. To address troublesome Psychic-types such as Latios, Alakazam , and Reuniclus, trappers like Tyranitar are invaluable. Its Pursuit prevents them from escaping safely and eliminates key counters. Alternatively, Scizor is a more offensive pursuiter using Bullet Punch to clean up weakened threats and Swords Dance to set up and punish passive Psychic-types that can't deal enough damage back to it.

4A is Conkeldurr's all out offensive set which takes advantage of it's enormous attack stat of 140 with the evergreen bolt-beam combo of Thunder Punch and Ice Punch which is almost unresisted and has next to none reliable switch ins who can take it's STAB Drain Punch forcing your opponent to rely on predictions when trying to play around it. Moved down An Adamant nature with 236 attack EVs is used to further elevate Conkeldurr's offensive presence. Life Orb and Fist Plate are two commonly used items with their own advantages; (ADD SC) Life Orb's powerful boost to Conkeldurr's coverage options allows it to cleanly OHKO common checks such as Tentacruel, Thundurus-T, and Landorus-T after its Intimidate. If Conkeldurr can more reliably be supported against these threats and pivoted into the battlefield, then Fist Plate provides a no-drawback boost to Conkeldurr's primary attacks. Life Orb gives a 1.3x boost to all of Conkeldurr's moves at the cost of 10% of it's HP everytime it attacks, whereas Fist Plate gives a 1.2x boost to all of Conkeldurr's fighting type moves without any negative effect. Either of the items can be used based on team's requirement. Iron Fist is the ability of choice boosting all of Conkeldurr's punching-based attacks. This gives the set immediate firepower compared to the more commonly used BU set and can catch opponents by surprise who are trying to play around that set and checks to which can get KOed by its newfound coverage and power. Maximizing special bulk let's Conkeldurr tank some special moves even with it's lackluster special defense. The given EVs allow Conkeldurr to live a Hydro Pump from a Choice Scarf Keldeo from full health in rain. An Adamant nature with 236 attack EVs is used to further elevate Conkeldurr's offensive presence.

Healing Wish is also an incredible boon to Conkeldurr, giving it a second chance at a sweep after it has weakened its own answers in its first sweep attempt. On more balanced teams, Jirachi also provides paralysis support to slow down faster threats that could otherwise outspeed and KO Conkeldurr.Even though pivots give Conkeldurr plenty of entry opportunities, Entry Hazards like spikes can significantly limit the number of times it can switch in safely.
