4th Gen, OU Team~

Hallo, everyone! This team may seem a bit... off or strange, to some people. I'm not sure though (not adept at the metagame yet). Anyway, this would probably because of a few things about me.

For one, I like using Pokemon that are adaptable, yet not commonly used (thus the Froslass here, and Umbreon on other teams). I also don't like to use Legends (like Celebi, ect.) or OVERLY used things (Heatran, Rotom, SkarmBliss, ect.). Heck, the only reason Stealth Rock is here is because it works great with Swampert, and my team enjoys that residual damage!

Anyway, any help here will be greatly appreciated! And my apologies if this team just plain sucks... Thanks in advance! :3

Froslass @ Focus Sash
Ability: Snow Cloak
EVs: 252 Sp.Atk, 4 Sp.Def, 252 Spd
Nature: Timid
- Spikes
- Taunt
- Ice Beam
- Destiny Bond

Froslass is my lead for the team. One thing I like is that Taunt can take care of a lot of leads' purposes, then she can set up Spikes (I've gotten 3 layers before). Plus, as the only Ghost-Type with Spikes, she can block Rapid Spin while she's out, which is great against opposing Lead Forretress. Finally, Ice Beam is a great standard STAB that hits most non-Steel leads pretty well, and can 2HKO some of them (like Azelf and others). Destiny Bond works with her high Speed and Focus Sash to get in a free kill, as long as it's not a priority Metagross or something.

Swampert @ Leftovers
Ability: Torrent
EVs: 248 HP, 216 Def, 44 Sp.Def
Nature: Relaxed
- Stealth Rock
- Roar
- Ice Beam
- Earthquake

Swampert helps overall as a wall + attacker of sorts, and the ability to set up Stealth Rock and residual damage. Roar works great with Stealth Rock and Froslass's Spikes, as well as scouting the enemy's team. Ice Beam is standard on Swampert against opposing Pokemon, and works nicely in co-op with Earthquake, which offers a great STAB. His defenses allow for almost any non-Grass to be Stealth Rocked. The Leftovers help with his bulk and healing small damage.

Scizor @ Choice Band
Ability: Technician
EVs: 248 HP, 252 Atk, 8 Spd
Nature: Adamant
- U-Turn
- Superpower
- Pursuit
- Bullet Punch

This is the standard Scizor that everyone knows and loves! Well, unless it's your enemy, then the case is that you hate it... o3o" Anyway! This is again a standard set (I need to be more creative with these). U-Turn offers scouting and it great for some STAB/Technician damage before switching, as long as she goes first. Superpower is great against Pokemon like Tyranitar and others scared of the Fighting-Type. Pursuit works nicely with the others, and is nice against Gengar and Azelf, who love the word "Switch" a bit too much against Scizor. Bullet Punch is another STAB, but the priority this move gets is what makes it so important. Scizor also nicely counters Celebi and Shaymin, which kill other team members. All this, along with her nice support for many other Pokemon on this team makes her a valuable asset.

Tyranitar @ Expert Belt
Ability: Sand Stream
EVs: 96 HP, 68 Atk, 100 SpAtk, 244 Spd
Nature: Hasty
- Superpower
- Crunch
- Fire Blast
- Pursuit

Tyranitar. Oh how that Sandstorm annoys people. Well, here's another powerhouse on the team! While Scizor may be his nemesis, he actually works well in saving the metal bug's butt as well. Anyway, Superpower is a powerful move that will hurt a lot of his opponents hard. Crunch is the STAB that will kill almost any Ghost or Psychic that can't flee from it. Pursuit works in the same way, but for the enemies that actually can and will run away from Tyranitar here. Fire Blast is obvious, as the coverage is nice with his other moves, and it's a powerful attack nonetheless, allowing him to surprise Steel-Types that may try and counter him. Finally, the Expert Belt gives him the boost he needs to run this Mixed set.

Rotom-W @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP, 40 SpAtk, 216 Spd
Nature: Timid
- Will-O-Wisp
- Trick
- Thunderbolt
- Hydro Pump

This is the Rotom that I replaced by Gliscor for, I guess? Anyway, this is self-explanatory, and helps with my team synergy. Will-O-Wisp cripples many of the Pokemon that may try and harm Rotom-W or my team, obviously with Physical Attackers. Trick screws over many other Pokemon, like Blissey and Leftovers users, among many others. Thunderbolt is the obvious STAB, and Hydro Pump offers coverage and incredible power to accompany Rotom-W and his Scarf. Along with a Timid Nature, Rotom-W can outrun a lot of its own counters as well. And the main purpose for this set is that as a Ghost-Type, Rotom helps Froslass block enemy Rapid Spins! I hope this works out~

Dragonite @ Life Orb
Ability: Inner Focus
EVs: 56 Atk, 252 Sp.Atk, 200 Spd
Nature: Mild
- Superpower
- Draco Meteor
- Flamethrower
- Roost

As the final Pokemon of my team, I chose a Pokemon that seemed to work in nice Synergy with a few of my other Pokemon. While not as great as Salamence (remember, I don't like overly abused Pokemon that much), Dragonite can do a lot that he can't. Superpower has the ability to take out Calm Blissey in OHKO, I believe? Draco Meteor is the STAB used here, and can take down a ton of Pokemon without great defenses or Steel typing, usually. Flamethrower works nicely with opposing Scizor and other Steel-Types, among others. The Life Orb boosts all this even further, as well. Finally, Roost helps Dragonite stay alive for longer, especially after being hit with attacks, and Life Orb residual. Overall, a nice Mixed Sweeper.

As I said before, any help will be greatly appreciated! I hope you can help! ^^" Thanks~! :3

Hi,

I know that your Dragonite packs enough power to OHKO Skarmory. But it Whirlwinds your team to death. With a couple of Spikes and Stealth Rock, your team ain't gonna love it. It walls most of your team members. You lack a Special Attacker. Which is why Skarmory walls you to death. Your best bet against Skarmory is Dragonite and Gliscor's Taunt.

Crocune is another one that will pwn you hard. Sure you can Taunt it, but would you risk Gliscor taking a Surf? Of course not. Once Gliscor is out of the way, SpecsJolteon can then rampage through your team. Tbolt dents Dragonite, Ttar and Scizor hard. While HP[Grass] pwns Swampert.

Lol. As you switch in Ttar to counter Jolteon, your opponent switches Skarmory in to wall your Ttar. You then switch in Dragonite, so that you can go on and kill Skarm with Fthrower, your opponent then switches out and sends out Suicune. Sets up a Calm Mind, and then it's pretty hard from that on.

I'll find a solution to remedy this, this is all I can do for now. Good Luck!

The main threats to this team are mid-game Rapid Spinners. Froslass is a frail lead, meaning it's not going to be around to prevent Forretress/Starmie from blowing your hazards away, and both those mons have fairly easy switchins on half your team (Swampert, Scizor, Tyranitar). You're also gonna have problems with Skarmory and the aforementioned Forretress setting up Spikes; they get free setup on those same 3 members and will give you alot of trouble to kill. This can be fixed easily; simply swap Gliscor for a Scarf Rotom-W and change Tyranitar to a mixed set. Gliscor really only broke stall (ineffectively as well, stall has adapted to it) and checked Swords Dance Lucario for you. Rotom-W checks Luke, messes up stall thanks to its ability to Trick Blissey a Choice Scarf, and is a spinblocker, a must on all entry hazard teams. It can take an anti-ghost hit from common spinners (Forretress's Payback, Starmie's Hydro Pump) and threaten them back with the appropriate move. Mix Tyranitar will lure in Forretress / Skarmory with the use of Pursuit on their Rotom-A (which they're bound to have in order to protect their entry hazards) and you'll then be able to torch them with a surprise Fire Blast. When coupled with mixed Dragonite, you will have pretty much no trouble with stall.
Rotom-W @ Choice Scarf | Timid | EVs: 252 HP / 40 SpA / 216 Spe
Thunderbolt / Will-O-Wisp / Hydro Pump / Trick

Max HP allows you to tank those anti-ghost hits from the likes of Forry/Starmie, while the power loss isn't as noticeable with entry hazard support. Will-O-Wisp seems odd on a choice set but it has great utility once you've Tricked off the Scarf, it also helps vs Forretress.
Tyranitar @ Expert Belt | Hasty | EVs: 96 HP / 68 Atk / 100 SpA / 244 Spe
Pursuit / Superpower / Fire Blast / Crunch

The speed EVs outrun Adamant Breloom.
That's all I can suggest. Good team, I hope this helps and good luck!

Hey, thanks, guys! I'm somewhat new to competitive battling (I used to just used sets that seemed good, but never worked on synergy).. ^^;;

I'll work on the strategies you mentioned, WoOoShoOo!!. They'll help since I'm not familiar with every Pokemon's role, and how to predict in many situations. Thank you!

And thanks to Blazin Kickin Chicken also! I'll try out those changes (I don't like changing Pokemon, and am not too fond of Rotom, but I'll adapt)! I'll post back if they worked or not, or anything that's giving me problems!

Looking forward to more help!

I would highly suggest that you take BlazinChicken's advice on Ttar's set. You'll just change it to a mix set, that's all. You won't change any pokemon, just your moveset. Ttar = Rotom dead.

Ok, I changed to a mixed Tyranitar, and tried Rotom instead of Gliscor, and already I can see my win ratio start to go up! Thanks!

If there's any more advice you guys can give, let me know! :3

Your team does not suck TOO much...lol jking.

As the above have suggested, you will need work with synergy. Currently, while you have a lot of good pokes, you lack either the insane offense to plow through everything, enough defense to take down everything, or enough balance to not be countered.

While you are using Ttar, in addition to 3 SS immune pokes, I don't think it's really worth running a Sandstorm team that doesn't really benefit from it too much. I'd say that Rotom A would be good, as other have suggested and, if you continue to use the Ttar set you do now, def. go Bug Bite on Scizor over Pursuit.

Also-I think DD on your Dragonite could be good, as you lack a mid game sweeper.

Also-I think DD on your Dragonite could be good, as you lack a mid game sweeper.
You should be more specific on why you're suggesting this; not every team needs a mid-game sweeper. Dnite's mixed set benefits this team the most because it breaks stall extremely well in conjunction with Ttar, so I would be very hesitant to change this unless you gave very good reasoning.

Mainly because mid game he can have some serious trouble taking down more than 1 Poke while staying in, which can give you some issues. However, I think perhaps a mixed DD Nite could also be good, as it gives you some extra power to plow through certain walls with Outrage/ES.

First off Scizor doesn't get a technician boost in U-Turn, and secondly Gliscor seems to be the weak link in your party. I would suggest a Heatran who would be able to absorb will-o-wisps sent at you physical based team. After Frostlass dies, which it will, your only special threat is Dragonite. You need a special offensive threat over Gliscor. Oh yeah and put your changes to you party in bold that way they don't get confused!

Thanks for all the tips, guys! I'll try and test them all out soon! ^^" And as for using Heatran, I'd rather not if I can help it, and that spot has already been given to Rotom-W, as you can now see in my edited post. Haha... Anyway, I also tried out the Mixed Tyranitar, and these two Pokemon changes are helping out really well!

Thanks, and can't wait to hear from you all!

Oh yeah I just realized you have a huge Mixed Infernape weakness but Rotom-W should be able to scare it off now! And maybe you should try a Barbari (steel) Berry on Tyranitar so he can suprise kill a Scizor.

Haha, yeah I thought about that, but I think Rotom-W should help ^^" I've only encountered an Infernape once, so far... One Pokemon that seems to trouble me is Gyarados, but not because of standard reasons. It's either because they switch before I can Thunderbolt it, or I accidentally let it set up.. >> luckily Roar is a good sub-phazer~ :3

I'll try out that Barbari Berry as a test, if Scizor begins to give me some problems. Thanks! ^^"
