5 guys and a shoobie.

Hey everyone, I been a long time lurker of the Smogon forums, never really posted on the forums though. So anyways, I grew old and tired with the OU competitive scene so i took a break from battling, and now I'm back with some free time and have been into playing the UU tier.

So I basically made the team from a few pokes I thought might synergise well together, and that's what I've found they do. Except for the one spot I can't quite seem to fill, but more on that later. I really love the steel, ground, ghost synergy. Nidoqueen bring the invaluable ability to asorb toxic spikes, and Bronzong's Immunity to Toxic is amazing from switching him in.

(picture failed to upload), was an Image of 1010 rank).

Thug deadmau5 reference I think, ;)

I have been Hovering around the 1k rating but feel I could go higher if I could find the right candidate for my seemingly unfulfillable role. Basically leave my supports in early to stir up trouble and allow Flygon and Sharpedo to clean up in the end game with their awesome combined coverage.

Well Here is the team.

Flygon (F) @ Choice Scarf Trait: Levitate
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SDef / 252 Spd
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- U-turn
- Earthquake
- Outrage
- Fire Punch

The Member of the team who I really can't say much for, completely taken from the Smogon site. one of the best leads in the tier. Always comfortable starting the momentum swinging in my favor with a U-turn, often switching into Bronzong to take the Incoming ice attack. Not to much to fear while wearing a scarf, a Jolly Darmanitan holding a scarf is really the only thing that I need to be cautious of, however i don't think this is reason enough to change Flygon to a jolly nature too. Scarf Froslass have however caught me off guard as a lead, but this is more due to my ignorance rather than anything else.

Flygon does however serve as my second Cleaner'up'erer. (lol) Often punishing softened up teams late game with Outrages.

Only change is possibly to Jolly nature, to further his dominance as a lead pokemon, and to try nullify speed ties with other Flygon.

Bronzong @ Leftovers
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SDef
Careful Nature (+SDef, -SAtk)
- Stealth Rock
- Gyro Ball
- Protect
- Toxic/Hypnosis

Ah Bronze daddy, on the team for one role, (rocks) but seems to see all face time during the game absorbing the hits the rest of my team loathe.

Maxed def stat (as per normal), but also the Careful nature for that added special defense bulkiness, which really helps to tank those HP fires I fail to see coming. Used to run Hypnosis but I got sick of Sleeping Myself on the ever lasting Xatu switch ins, also really helps me deal with bulky waters who wish to play the stall game. Possible change to +DEF nature to help take Megahors from a burnt Herracross who would otherwise pulverize my team. (assuming I can't revenge kill him). Not to much more to add, Bronzong is played very straight foward, doing what he does best.

Sableye (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Prankster
EVs: 252 HP / 180 Def / 76 SDef
Calm Nature (+SDef, -Atk)
- Taunt
- Will-O-Wisp
- Recover
- Night Shade

Sableye, the master troll Pokemon, cutting physics attackers right in their tracks.

Originally a Dusknoir, doing quite a similar job, The prankster ability was just so DAMN appealing at cutting down other support roles and hard countering fighting types which did team did otherwise dislike greatly. Also acting spin blocker. Sableye's role is little, but very important to the team. Very basic set, switch in on the ever common fighting types, and lead fake-outs, then start firing off burns. I do hoever struggle again Heracross (and Ursaring) switchins who take the burn and then KO any member on my team bar Bronzong (who takes over half).

The mixed defense stats are there to try supply tankiness, but Sableye's hp and natural bulk are so low it doesn't really apply.Thinking of switching evs to pure SDEF because my team can't seem to handle special attacks as well as they do Physical.

Nidoqueen (F) @ Black Sludge
Trait: Sheer Force
EVs: 252 HP / 76 Def / 180 SDef
Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Toxic Spikes
- Roar
- Earth Power
- Taunt

Nidoqueen, while being almost a pure support role, doesn't seem much face time early game, or until those pesky poison types get there feet of the ground. The personal counter to TS is also quite nice. After TS are up, Nidoqueen basically becomes reserved to absorb hits to try and keep Flygon and Sharpedo alive end game and allow them to resume their sweep un-harmed.

Thinking of possibly taking up Poison Point over earth power, because really, Nidoqueen rarely is in such a position where she is allowed to fire off earth powers. That slight chance for a poison is likely going to be more valuable to me, also considering Nidoqueen spends a lot of here time tanking pointless attacks.

319.png

Sharpedo (M) @ Life Orb
Trait: Speed Boost
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Waterfall
- Crunch
- Protect
- Earthquake

Probably the MVP of this team, ending most games with 2 or more kills, Sharpedo is a key member to this team. Very straight forward set, protect on the first turn, very hard to out speed on the second. In the late game, once the enemy team has had their bulky waters and Bronzong have been removed, or severely weakened, little can stop the combined might of the FlyPedo combination. Any Pokemon of mine still remaining basically become fodder to try keep this duo alive.

I don't feel anything needs to change on this Mon.

So here it is, the 'SHOOBIE' of the team.

Currently a Raikou i rolled off the Smogon site. But it is becoming quite difficult for me to find someone to file this role.

First off a little history. This spot originated as a specs Magmortar, but didn't really find much action other than taking pointless hits. Secondly, this spot was home to a Crocune. But this brought on almost a stalling agenda for the team, which I don't enjoy playing at all. Also Having my special attacker and Sharpedo of water type was unfavorable.

So, Raikou currently resides here. The only appealing thing is the ability to spam Calm minds and to try 6-0 a team, however this is super rare. Even with some calm minds under the belt, enemy Flygons, Arcanines and many more love to punish Raikou with a sneaky earthquake.

So, this is where i need advice on someone to fill this role as my teams special attacker, any help would be much appreciated.

Thank you for taking the time to read, please leaving a comment with a possible suggestion. :)

As for the shoobie, do you want something bulkier or with more attack behind it? Something that I've found out is that specially attacking Porygon2 is a great special attacker with max evs in HP and SpA. While it's maybe not as strong, it can take heavier hits than other Pokemon and return a massive hit with its good movepool. It also has recover and three great abilities (trace, analytic, and download). It's fighting type weakness is covered by your Sabelye and Nidoqueen. If that doesn't work, maybe Life Orb Shaymin? It also has a good movepool and stats, not to mention a good typing that would work effectively in your team. And finally, Chandlure is another good one since it has great synergy with Bronzong

I'm looking for as more offensive based filler. Porygon2 has worked quite well in my trials, running as you recommended max HP max Special, move set : HP fire, Icebeam, Tri attack and recover. Will continue testing him though.

You may not want to keep black sludge on queen, as someone can trick your queen for black sludge, and trick it back to something NOT poison on your team. That would be pretty dangerous, huh?
