So i've been doing a lot of research/testing/learning about this whole competitive pokemon thing. Ive had many teams fail, many teams do decent but i can't really find a good solid team to get up and over the 1800 mark on showdown. Then I thought, what if I could power up one pokemon to astronomical numbers. Then the possibility of sweepers jumps through the roof. It works, but I have to get better at anticipating what the opponent is going to do. And just all around better at using the chemistry the team has from the start. I have gone through a bunch of versions of this team. I believe Im getting close.
So Without further ado, my baton pass team...
Scolipede @ Black Sludge
Ability: Speed Boost
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Adamant Nature
- Protect
- Iron Defense
- Megahorn
- Baton Pass
As i am sure you all have guess, my scolipede does the usual, it boosts the teams speed. I also, can boost the defense of the team with one or two iron defenses if i don't see an immediate threat. I used to have focus sash on here, guaranteeing me of at least 1 speed boost and an iron defense. I actually liked how that worked a lot, Black Sludge is on there now instead for experimental use. I am satisfied with him as my lead. I lead with him no matter what, because if I see a hazard threat then I switch to none other than...
Espeon @ Leftovers
Ability: Magic Bounce
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SDef
Bold Nature
- Baton Pass
- Psychic
- Calm Mind
- Shadow Ball
He has been on this team, then off, then on again. I think I want him to stay now. Calm Mind to boost the teams Special forces obviously, and Psychic is usually my go to attack. I'd like suggestions for the 4th move. Should I use Wish for wish passing? Keep it, although i rarely use it. Espeon is crucial so that my team doesn't get effected by status/hazards, also it is fast enough to outsped most pokes and get its job done efficiently.
Mawile @Mawilite
Trait: Intimidate-Huge Power
EVs: 252 HP/ 252 Atk/ 4 Def
Adamant
Baton Pass
Swords Dance
Play Rough
Iron Head/Sucker Punch
Originally a Gliscor, but gliscor really didn't do much besides get a nice swords dance in and maybe a sub pass. Fact was, I needed coverage. I liked what Gorebyss brought to the table. Shell Smash to start it off, maybe an ice beam here, a surf there. Shell Smash, is just a crazy stat boosting move, especially when coupled with white herb. Its a nice little treat to get passed onto any of my next recipients. CHANGED FROM GOREBYSS TO MAWILE
Dragonite @ Assault Vest
Ability: Multiscale
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spd
Adamant Nature
- Stone Edge
- Dragon Claw
- Fire Punch / Fire Blast
- Earthquake
Now here is my "running back," At any point in the match (preferably after at least a couple boosts here and there but when desperate times call for desperate measures) he will get thrown out there. You all have probably ran into a DD set Dragonite, or a weakness policy set. Well this one with prior boosting, is both of those + bulk due to the assault vest. I was thinking that I could put roost on here for continuous sweep and reloading but the assault vest tends to work well and it lets me add stone edge for coverage.
Togekiss @ Weakness Policy
Ability: Serene Grace
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 Spd
Bold nature
- Nasty Plot
- Air Slash
- Baton Pass
- Dazzling Gleam
This guy is iffy, but honestly not really sure what else can be used here. He does well nasty plot passing as well as causing the opponent to flinch continuously. His bulk allowed me to throw weakness policy on there to get an extra boost before passing off to a teammate. Dazzling Gleam is mainly for the dragons, and fighters out there. He works well, has even won me a couple matches just by making the opposer flinch. The reason I'm not running a paraflinch set is because he more than likely will come in with at least one speed boost from scolipede.
Jolteon @ AIR BALLOON
Ability: Volt Absorb
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature
- Stored Power
- Baton Pass
- Thunderbolt
- Substitute
My jolteon is quite good at what he does. If he comes in with 2-4 boosts, then stored power is a very usable move, if not then we either subpass, or thunderbolt the foe. He offers coverage against the water types, when no one else really can and against flying. Stored power really can take out a number of foes on its own too.
Please help me out with this team. Don't be afraid to shred it to pieces. I need to know what works and what doesn't work. Again, I am pretty new to this so if you could help me out at all it'd be appreciated.
