Introduction

Right, I for one, hate the 3 common weathers of OU (Sand, Rain and Sun). I tried making non-weather teams, anti weather teams etc, but none of them really worked. So I decided to try the weather that not many people use, and that of course is Hail. I find Hail the funnest out of the 3 weathers, because no one expects it ^^ So here is my best attempt at a Gen 5, OU hail team! :D

Team Building Process
Right, well, you can't have a hail team without Abomnasnow, now can you? He was obviously added to the team.

Now, I needed something to abuse Hail. Kyurem was perfect! STAB, Base 120 Blizzard in Hail was nothing to over look, Kyurem was now member #2!

Now, since I have two Pokemon weak to Stealth Rock, I needed a spinner. Forretress was a perfect choice, as it can Spin and set up Spikes and T-Spikes! Forretress was added to the team!

Now when I have Entry Hazards on the field, I need a spin-blocker, I decided to to with a Rest-Talk Dusclops! this thing Is also immune to Fighting, which my team is weak too.

My team was weak too Steel and Rock, and needed Physical Power. Conkeldurr was the perfect choice. say hello to member number 5!

Right so my team needed a pokemon that resisted Fire, and it needed to be specially defensive. Heatran was the obvious choice!

The Team!

485.gif
@ Air Balloon
Trait: Flash Fire
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SAtk / 252 SDef
Calm Nature (+SDef, -Atk)
- Torment
- Substitute
- Lava Plume
- Stealth Rock

My lead. I originally had Blissey as my Special Wall and Stealth Rocker, but then saw that QD Volcarona and Physical Fire types such as Victini and Arcanine were wrecking my team. I added a Sub-Torment Heatran and it worked Brilliantly.Lava Plume was added over Flamethrower so I can get burns off more often. This thing walls Scizor, Victini and Jirachi, which would've been major threats to my team before hand.

460.gif
@ Leftovers
Trait: Snow Warning
EVs: 188 HP / 52 Atk / 252 SAtk / 16 Spd
Quiet Nature (+SAtk, -Spd)
- Substitute
- Giga Drain
- Blizzard
- Ice Shard

Can't have a hail team without Abomnasnow now can we? This is my most effective set yet (Actually I stole it off someone, but anyway) I tried using Leech Seed over Giga Drain, but it didn't work to well for me. Ice Shard is mainly for KO'ing annoying dragon types and Thunderus' with low health. With max Special Attack, Abomnasnow can hit anything that isn't Steel or Fire type really hard.

646.gif
@ Choice Scarf
Trait: Pressure
EVs: 4 Atk / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Naive Nature (+Spd, -SDef)
- Draco Meteor
- Blizzard
- Focus Blast
- Outrage

My revenge killer. I honestly LOVE this thing. With Choice Scarf, this thing gets up to 475 Speed and 339 Special Attack. Dragon Pulse and Blizzard are for STAB and Focus Blast is there for Steel types. I originally had Hp Fire, but then my team got raped by CM Suicune. Outrage helped me handle this nicely. This is the star of my team, and thanks to it, I have won a lot of battles!

205.gif
@ Leftovers
Trait: Sturdy
EVs: 252 HP / 56 Def / 200 SDef
Careful Nature (+SDef, -SAtk)
- Spikes
- Toxic Spikes
- Rapid Spin
- Pain Split

Forretress' role on this team is to set up Entry Hazards and Rapid Spin. He's really bulky and lays down Spikes and T-spikes like it's nothing. I picked Forretress over Skarmory and Ferrothorn because it gets, 1.) T-spikes and 2.) Rapid Spin. Rapid Spin is needed for obvious reasons, as both Abomnasnow and Kyruem both take 25% from Stealth Rocks. Pain Split helps me out a ****ton, but I am then absolutely worthless if I get taunted.

356.gif
@ Eviolite
Trait: Pressure
EVs: 255 HP / 252 Def
Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Rest
- Sleep Talk
- Will-O-Wisp
- Seismic Toss

My team would fail if it wasn't for Dusclops. It's my Breloom counter and Spin-Blocker, and it does its job fantastically! I used a Rest-Talk set so I can absorb status and hopefully crippling Brelooms and Excadrills. With Eviolite it's defense gets up to the 500s while it's special defense gets a respectable +400, also it's immune to Fighting, which my team is weak to.

534.gif
@ Leftovers
Trait: Guts
EVs: 200 HP / 56 Atk / 252 SDef
Careful Nature (+SDef, -SAtk)
- Bulk Up
- Drain Punch
- Mach Punch
- Payback

Yay for this thing! Handles Steel and Rock types like a pro. Doesn't really do much for the team tbh just to handle some of the common threats of the meta ie, Excadrill, Heatran, Magnezone etc, It does its job well, and I have swept a couple of times with it. I'm open to suggestions to this Poké though.

Can forretress learn pain split ? 0.0 I never knew that.
Tbh , i would give a flame orb to your conkeldurr, to start off with a permanent x1.5 attack. This makes him that much more dangerous on a switch in.

Rest talking dusclops is smart , in team previeuw i first thought : your only bashing yourself because of hail.
But rest talk makes sense.

One thing is obvious , fire attack , after heatran dies (and it will die rather fast without physical bulk to survive earthquakes even with air balloon , it will take 2 turns) you only have dusclops to do that. Knowing dusclops has not much to give against continuous hits. Also , when you are asleep a calm minder can fearlessly cme in to set up .

But this team is very bulky and will do a rather good job i think. Then again , only 2 of your pokemon benefit from hail .

Hey there. This is a pretty nice hail team :)

But, I think you would benefit more by running a standard special wall Heatran. Using Substitute without any recovery and hail is gonna wear you down pretty quickly, and since you have no real special wall this would help. The new set for this Heatran is Lava Plume / Stealth Rock / Toxic / Roar. Toxic is chosen over Protect because the hail recovery negates Leftovers so it's not as useful. Also, the new EV Spread is 252 HP / 4 SAtk / 252 SDef with a Calm nature. This will give you a dedicated special wall, as well as a good phazer to rack up entry hazard damage.

On Abomasnow, I recommend Focus Punch over Giga Drain. This will let you hit common switch-ins such as Heatran hard, but most importantly destroy all non-Chople variants of Tyranitar.

Finally, change Conkeldurr's EV Spread to 120 HP / 252 Atk / 136 SDef with an Adamant nature. This will let Conkeldurr do much more damage while still being decently bulky, and since you now have a dedicated special wall in Heatran, running a specially defensive set won't help you as much.

Good luck.

Hi

At first sight it seems opposing stall teams are a bit of problem for you. You are also going to have some real problems with Reuniclus and the likes. What you can do to somewhat fix both these problems is to use Jellicent instead of Dusclops so you will still keep your spin blocker but you'll gain a decent stallbreaker. With a moveset of Taunt / Will-o-wisp / Recover / Shadow Ball and an EV spread of 252 HP / 174 Def / 84 Spe with a Calm nature and with the Cursed Body ability you're going to make it harder for Reuniclus to sweep your team and you'll also be able to handle stall breaker Mew easier.

Also try Leftovers on Heatran, it will appreciate everything that can give it some more longevity. Besides, people tend to forget it but Substitute does not prevent the Air Balloon from being broken. I also suggest a slight change for Heatran. TormentTran doesn't really work with no way to gain help (in sandstorm teams it at gets Leftovers recovery due to immunity) so that's why I would like to suggest to replace Torment with Roar and Substitute with Protect. I know you won't gain any health with Protect in the Hail but it's still useful for scouting and to rack up Toxic damage.

Hope these suggestions helped and good luck with the team.
