5th gen Ou team

Hey! My name is cosbykid you may have seen me around on the PO server. I have put together a 5th Gen team that I think is pretty solid. I am very new to 5th gen as i have just started in May. I would like a deep rating of my team and its ok if you tell me it sucks or tell me to restart because I want to win. On Pokemon online i got this team up to 2146/61000 something. I have used this team a lot and i really like it but i fear it has small gaps that I am missing and having somebody who is more comftrable with 5th gen may see. Thx for the rate :).

(Donphan) (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Sturdy
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Ice Shard
- Earthquake
- Fire Fang
- Stealth Rock

Donphan is the best lead that I have ever used. In 5th gen Sturdy is basically a built in focus sash. Donphan is also a very rare lead and many people dont know if it's going to set up rocks or attack. Donphan is super bulky and takes physical hits like a champ so getting up Stealth Rocks has a virtual 99% sucsess rate the only way that it fails is when they lead with Cloyster and I need to attack it or when I get haxed. Fire fang is very beastly on it to kill Ferrothorn it catches them off guard and occasionly I will get a scizor or a Forretress to get raped. Ice Shard is nice to have for priority or an unlucky Dragonite or Gliscor. And Earthquake deals masssive damage to almost anything that dosent resist it. I love DOnphan because I'm a firm believer in getting up Stealth Rocks so Donphan is the best.

nidoking.png

Nidoking (M) @ Life Orb
Trait: Sheer Force
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Ice Beam
- Thunderbolt
- Flamethrower
- Earth Power

Special Nidoking is a beast and it catches people off guard and sometimes gets a sweep. I love this nidoking because it can any take status and it resists two of them (PAR) and (PSN) two of the most feared in my opinion. Sheer Force is Beastly withLife Orb because for some reason you don't take Life Orb recoil when you have Sheer Force. The main move I use is earth power because of Stab and it rapes almost anything and any flying types that want to switch in on it have a surprise waiting for them.

Dragonite (M) @ Life Orb
Trait: Multiscale
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Dragon Dance
- Earthquake
- Dragon Claw
- Fire Punch

This Dragonite is a great late/midgame sweeper. I like to bring in this Dragonite when people bring out their Conkeldur because a standard Conkeldur cannot do SHIT to this thing so thats a free dragondance. When the opposing team does not have Stealth Rocks she gets the multiscale boost which is a free Dragondance and after 1 DD she gets to 604 Att and 388 Sp which is enoughto outspeed evrything w/o a choice scarf besides Deoxys S. Usualy by late game the scarfer is gone so its a nice clean sweep.

Staraptor (M) @ Choice Band
Trait: Reckless
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Double-Edge
- Close Combat
- Brave Bird
- U-turn

Choice band Staraptor is rape in a bottle. Even if It's resisted Brave Bird RAPES almost anything. I commonly get Tyranitars switching in on her and the Brave Bird Does 49.1% - 57.9% to the standard Dragon Dance Tyranitar. U-turn is very nice to have because it does a lot of damage and its a very nice scouting move. Sadly, she does not like stealth rocks as she gets limited switch ins. I commonly have to use her at the end to finish off walls that were saved to the end.

OfficialZoroarkSprite.png

Zoroark (M) @ Life Orb
Trait: Illusion
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Nasty Plot
- Dark Pulse
- Flamethrower
- Grass Knot

Zoroark is my absolute new fav 5th Gen pokemon. I have so many sweeps with this guy because people think it's a Starmie so they switch out and I get a free nasty plot and there is a epic sweep because they feel dumb. I cannot think of a single common OU pokemon that does not take atleast unresisted damage from this set besides Infernape. This guy has problems with Conkeldur and Infernape because of mach punch so when Zoroark dies I send out Dragonite to get some Dragon Dances. Starmie and Zoroark are very nice team members as people commonly send out Gengar to take starmie and Zoroark loves Ghost Pokemon.

Starmie @ Choice Scarf
Trait: Natural Cure
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Surf
- Rapid Spin
- Ice Beam
- Thunderbolt

Starmie is the best choice scarfer ever!!!! You may think its wierd to have Rapid Spin on a choice scarfer but my team is very weak to Stealth Rock so I needed to have that. I also have it for Cloyster because shell break cloyster needs to be banned because its broken after one shell break starmie is still faster and always KOs with Thunderbolt. Just a standard choice scarfer not must to say sometimes i catch people off guard with the scarf though.

Thx for the rate I'm looking for a team rate not a grammar lesson please I don't care if I made a typo. So please I'm looking for constructive critisism I'll take any suggestions.

Might I suggest a Weavile counter? A Scarf-ed Vile could potentially counter your whole team if it has Pursuit, Night Slash, or Dark Pulse (if they have a horrible idea of running it Special / Mixed), Brick Break, and Ice Shard / Ice Punch. Volcarona is a decent pokemon in general, and could provide coverage.

Volcarona @ Life Orb
Modest Nature (+Sp. Attack, -Attk)
252 Sp. Attk, 252 Speed, 4 HP
-Quiver Dance
-Fire Blast / Flamethrower / Fiery Dance
-Bug Buzz
-Psychic (or any other filler move that would suit your team)

The Volcarona set I use. Deals massive damage with Life Orb and a few Dances. The fire move's up to you.. Fire Blast for power, F-thrower for accuracy, and Fiery Dance for a possible Sp. Attack boost (which is always a plus). Psychic just for added coverage against Fighting types, but any other Special move would do fine. Or, you could run a mixed set with Wild Charge on it, but, with a very low Attack stat, its not recommended.

I agree about your Avatar ;)

What should I replace that with?

Umm.... I would either take off Nidoking or Dragonite. Preferably Nido.. surprising yes, but once they see you use a Special move, they'll switch to their wall and screw King right in the face. Plus Volcarona has a higher Sp. Attack stat, with a way of setting itself up to do some massive damage

Hello there, Cosbykid. I hope I'll be of any help to you. At least let me try, please (:

I see you not only have a Stealth Rock weakness as you may think, but also a pretty rough Ice weakness. Four out of six pokemon of yours are weak to ice types, so you have to make some choices around your pokemon: which can stay and which ones you should change. Another thing that upsets me is that, although Nidoking doesn't receive recoil damage from Life Orb, two Dragonite and Zoroark do, so maybe recovery should be an option to think about. But let's begin to look thouroughly.

One solution for your Ice weakness and your recovery problem just pops out of my mind: Jirachi. Jirachi is an excepcional pokemon and just fills the role I'm telling you about. The set you should use is the typical para-flinch one. Common, but effective and sometimes lethal:

Spr_5b_385.png

Jirachi @ Leftovers
Ability: Serene Grace
Careful Nature (+Sp. Def, -Sp. Atk)
EVs: 252 HP /220 Sp.Def/ 36 Spd

- Wish
- Body Slam
- Iron Head
- Protect / U-turn

This set offers you a recovery move, namely Wish, and provides you the para-flich hax which always annoys your opponent. You could use Thunder Wave instead of Bodyslam, but I preffer to run the latter because it can hit steel Earth types. On the last slot you have two options. Choose the one that most adapts to your style of play. As for to which pokemon I would take out, that would be Staraptor. It upsets me a little...

If you do this change, notice you gain some resistances and some valuable moves. We can go a little further too, but I guess I have no time left and that will be another time. I'll edit my comment soon, don't worry ;D

By the way: Volcarona doesn't fit the team, in my opinion. You would benefit more from Jirachi than from Volcarona, having a reliable wall on your team. But that's only my opinion...

I did notice the ice weakness and I am gonna try your set :) . I have been swept by those. I think Im gonna try U-turn because im more of a offensive player. Thanks for the help

EDIT: I love the new suggestions they work really well :).
