Arena: Maxim's Center Stage
Description: This arena is a reasonably popular arena where crowds gather to see a different type of battle. You see, they don't want to see any standard issue stuff like at the ASB Arena, they want battles with flair, creative moves, and intensely close calls. As such, in this arena roleplaying actions are more likely to work. Additionally, the ref can modify the arena as he desires (within reason, no teleporting to another dimension) to either cause pain to the competitors or open up new roleplaying opportunities. For instance, he could have a tent appear over the competitors thus allowing them to use the poles to smack each other or even bring the tent down and muck everything up.

As for the arena itself, it's a fairly simple battlefield. The competitors are on the top of a platform about 50 ft in the air, surrounding a simple moat (though the ref can modify this as he so chooses). This platform is a square measuring about 50 yards on each side. The floor is white, although some grass covers the arena allowing Energy Ball and similar moves to work at full effectiveness. The arena is contained within a cavernous area, but the sun shines through the ceiling giving ample light. All moves are allowed.

Summary:
  • Roleplaying actions are easier to pull off
  • Referee can modify the arena within reason
  • All moves are allowed

ff7hero Orders
Arcanite Orders
Ref
  • After every knock out, the ref can choose certain events, that could naturally occur in the Center Stage.
  • If no role play action, creative moves or moves with flair are used for two rounds in succession. The ref would auto order for the following round, through an arena modification, which could impact any specific trainer's or both trainer's pokemon(s).
  • Eg. for Role Play action: String Shot to Tie Opp's mouth.
  • Eg. for Creative moves: Water Sport while in the evasive stage of Dig. It functions like a combo for the sake of action sequence, but the energy consumption is not calculated like a regular combo, nor is the combo's feasibility checked and neither are the move's type altered based on the combo type.
  • Eg. for moves with flair: Aerial Ace. It can be found under Cool moves: Pokemon Contest.
If both trainers would like to disable flavor for this battle, then ASB Arena would be used and no Flavor would be provided. If one of the trainers, or both trainers, do not disable the flavor for this battle explicitly, then flavor would be used in the battle and Center Stage would be the Arena along with the Ref's Additions.

'Yuffie, Aerith, show them how to win!'

Send out Yuffie Kirisagi the Frogadier @ EXP Share
Send out Aerith Gainsborough the Happiny @ Lucky Egg

I'm assuming 2 subs.

"Rizo and Atma, take these Amulet Coins and go to town!"*ff7hero's 13 year old self takes over* "It's Aeris for crying out loud! Stick to your guns, Squaresoft!" *ahem* "Sorry about that..."
Rizo: Razor Leaf~Growth~Razor Leaf
If Frogadier uses Dig without suspense, use Giga Drain+Giga Drain (Frogadier)
If Frogadier is an Ice type and Frogadier is awake, Sleep Powder (Frogadier)

Atma: Dragon Rage (Frogadier)x3
If Frogadier uses Bounce, Twister (Frogadier)
If Frogadier is Ice type, use Fire Blast the first and third times and Power Gem the second time.

657.png
440.png

'They seem to be forgetting you Aerith....'

Yuffie Kirisagi the Frogadier: [Toggle Protean ON] Bounce > Ice Beam (Bulbasaur) > Bounce
---IF Bulbasaur faints, THEN target Monohm
Aerith Gainsborough the Happiny:
Flamethrower > Flamethrower > Flamethrower [All at Bulbasaur]
---IF Bulbasaur faints, THEN target Monohm

Round 1:
McKrow: I am not sure who Arcanite was targeting,
with Yuffie Kirisagi's Bounce last round.

Burd: I am sure it must have been Bulbasaur.

Referee: There was enough time for the trainer to update his orders,
so no questions about why a random pokemon was targeted, please.

Burd: Well, FF7Hero sure seems to have got a great start in this battle.

McKrow: It is a 5v5 Doubles mind you,
you only need one good round to come back into the game.

Burd: And it is usually not good to take an early lead,
especially in doubles,
because the opp would be hell bent on coming back.
While you would only be wanting to extend the lead.

McKrow: I like the folks who command the battle from the start,
says a lot about their skill as a trainer.

Burd: True, let us see how this battle turns out to be,
and hopefully it is not as long as the last battle that we commentated ~_~

Frogadier the fastest pokemon on the field launches itself into the sky in a quick bounce. But FF7Hero predicted Arcanite to perfection and ordered Monohm to launch a powerful twister attack on the bouncing Frog. Bulbasaur just stays calmly on the ground chipping away at Happiny, while Happiny fires it with a Flamethrower.

While Happiny was targeting Bulbasaur with a Flamethrower, Frogadier bounced on its team mate, who was not in a good shape to take that, and would have hit it really hard with a critical hit had it not been for Monohm and its Twister, which got Frogadier all tangled up and resulting in its Bouce missing the target. Happiny was mad at Frogadier, who shrugged and showed a webbed finger towards Arcanite.

Arcanite then realizing his mistake, ordered Frogadier to use Ice Beam on Bulbasaur, Frogadier changed its form to Ice type to launch a STAB boosted Ice Beam on Bulbasaur, but this excited Monohm which was ordered to use Fire Blast on an Ice Type Frogadier and it did just that. Hitting the Skill Frog right where it hurts. Bulbasaur then used Sleep Powder to put the Skill Frog to sleep so as to avoid further damage to it from the Icy Frog, but he couldn't avoid a Flamethrower to its face by Happiny, who was Happily repeating its move the entire round.

Frogadier was fast asleep as Monohm hit it with a Super Effective Power Gem attack, while Bulbasaur was keen on using a Cool move for the round, which was gathering a lot of crowd attention and could boost its attack if he could manage a critical hit with it. While Happiny Fired another Flamethrower from its mouth towards Bulbasaur, that brought the bulb pokemon almost into Overgrow Range.

Frogadier is fast asleep. But FF7Hero did not want the skill frog to wake up and launch another attack, so he asked Bulbasaur and Monohm to target it with Giga Drain and Fire Blast combo which fried the Frogadier. Meanwhile Happiny was ordered to setup a Light Screen, to reduce the special damage that their team would take. But seeing her team mate go down, [Role Play] she raised her attack in reprisal because she couldn't save her teammate with the light screen.

While Monohm was cooling down from the Fiery Blast, Bulbasaur was ordered by FF7Hero to shatter the Light Screen with Magical Leaf, since Bulbasaur realised that this could fail as Light Screen is tougher to be broken by a single attack, FF7Hero soon realises that maybe a cutting, breaking or clearing attack used in combination could remove the screen. Bulbasaur attacks Happiny with a Razor Leaf attack which brings more applause from the crowd and [Role Play] since it was near the range of overgrow, the next attack it uses might give it special boosts.

Happiny targeted Bulbasaur with a Flamethrower again, and this time managed to land a burn on Bulbasaur. [Role Play]Bulbasaur concentrated on directing all its nutrients and vitamins to specific areas in its body and the burn that it sustained combined with the cheering from the crowd gave it the ability Guts temporarily and also boosted its Attacks as if it were under intense sunlight.

Arcanite ordered Happiny to keep using Flamethrower attack on Bulbasaur to bring it to KO range. Where as Monohm decided to Toxic Happiny for no reason as Happiny's Natural Cure would activate in some time clearing all the major status afflicted on it.

Spr_B2W2_Ace_Trainer_M.png

The Ace Doubles Trainer, GD says, "Atma the Monohm could have used Substitute or Rain Dance or Charge instead of poisoning Happiny, but lets see what FF7Hero was thinking here."

Field Effects: Light Screen on Arcanite's side of the field for 3 actions.

Arcanite doesn't allow Bulbasaur to land any powerful attacks and takes it out the first chance that he got with the help of Doublade's Aerial Ace that brings a lot of cheer from the crowd as it manages to faint an opponent with such a cool move. [Role Play] Doublade would be able to get a Moxie effect for this gallant effort if he manages to land a successful combo on an opponent with Aerial Ace.

While Monohm tried to avenge his fallen friend with a cool Sonic Boom of his own. [Role Play] Which brings an even louder cheer from the crowd as it was a cool move used after another successful cool move with an intention of revenge. All Fixed damage moves by Monohm would get an additional two damage and this effect would last until Monohm switches out or faints.

Happiny cooly creates a substitute behind which it feels safe but the bad poison on it still rakes in Damage. Its Natural Cure ability would be able to cure its status in a couple of turns, and being behind a substitute gives it an advantage while ordering first as it can chill to regain some energy to fight back again.

Doublade tries to do maximum damage on Monohm but the electric dragon's static force paralyses the Metallic Ghost and this could be crucial in the selection of the next pokemon by ff7hero.

As we eagerly await for FF7Hero to send out his next pokemon, the crowd seems pretty pleased with the two trainers exhibiting great skill and command of the pokemon skills and move sets. This could have a positive effect on both the trainers as the battle proceeds.

Arcanite did not expect to see the Frogfucius to Taunt his Happiny, and that was most unfortunate as FF7Hero trapped the Playhouse within its substitutions for the round and made sure that it fainted out of exhaustion. Doublade yet again began the round with an Aerial Ace and driven by the crowd's support it managed to land a [Role Play] critical hit on the electric dragon.

While Monohm Blasted the Sword pokemon with Fire that was not able to burn him as FF7Hero would have liked.
Frogadier avoided all damage this round with a turn of Bounce and Dig that didn't do much damage to the Metallic Sword pokemon and Monohm just chilled as Doublade managed to hit it with a powerful Shadow Claw.

We now await the next team mate of Arcanite who will have to change the battle around as FF7Hero is walking away with victory here.

FF7Hero did not expect to see Excalipoor & Excalibur to protect and let his Frogfucius be brutally assaulted by both of Arcanite's pokemon. Wakka had a field day as he constantly exploited protean to his advantage to damage Frogfucius to the maximum. While Atma did manage to [Role Play] revive the paralysis on Doublade with his cool shock wave, it is not possible for Frogfucius to survive for long.

Arcanite came from behind and has put himself back on the battle with an amazing round, will FF7Hero survive this great charge by Arcanite? Stay tuned to find out what happens in the next round.
