Recently, I've been playing quite a lot of Natdex Ubers. My Rank isn't particularly high, but I really like the team I have so far, thinking it's worthy of a showcase. At least, I like five members of the team. The sixth one, whether that be Ho-oh, Mewtwo, or Xerneas, just couldn't seem to fit in my team and ended up being death fodder.
First of all, here's my team: https://pokepast.es/102d4c17165da071
Wall and Wallbreaker (Groudon-Primal) @ Red Orb
Ability: Desolate Land
Tera Type: Ground
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 Def
Lax Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Precipice Blades
- Stone Edge
- Heat Crash
If a team doesn't have primal groudon, it'll be a weird team. This Groudon is built to be as physically defensive as possible. However, even a nearly uninvested attack allows it to secure key OHKOs; it's just that powerful. Stealth Rock is for breaking all the focus sashes, especially focus sash Marshadow (more on that later). Precipes Blades and Heat Crash is self-explanatory. Stone edge is for Ho-oh and other flying types.
Sweep Sweep (Arceus) @ Leftovers
Ability: Multitype
Tera Type: Ghost
EVs: 132 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 120 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Dragon Dance
- Extreme Speed
- Shadow Force
- Taunt
This is a set I totally didn't steal from any Natdex Forum ;). Thievery aside, this set is incredibly powerful. The given evs give it good bulk and respectable speed, just enough to outspeed the entire unboosted tier bar some Deoxys forms after a ddance. By setting up at least two dragon dances, it could sweep entire teams. Extreme speed has obvious uses. Shadow Force works amazingly well with Tera Ghost and Leftovers, allowing it some serious damage and somewhat reliable recovery. Taunt is to stop opposing pokemon, such as NDM, from statusing it or setting up. One of its only checks is Sash Marshadow at full HP, which is why Groudon is there.
Wallbreaker (Zacian-Crowned) @ Rusted Sword
Ability: Intrepid Sword
Tera Type: Flying
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Behemoth Blade
- Play Rough
- Sacred Sword
- Wild Charge
Wallbreaker. Need I say more? Tera flying is for ground type attacks, tho I barely use it. Other than that, this is your standard Zacian set. SS and WC is for coverage. BB and PR for STAB. Nothing out of the ordinary.
Revenge Killer (Koraidon) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Orichalcum Pulse
Tera Type: Fire
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Outrage
- Collision Course
- Flare Blitz
- U-turn
Again, standard scarf set. Outrage because Dragon Claw simply doesn't have enough power. An oddity here might be Collision Course. I use Collision Course over Low Kick and Close Combat because a) I'm only using it on super effective mons anyway, and at that point CCourse is better than CCombat, and b) Low kick has varying base power, which isn't that great. Flare Blitz works well with Tera fire, surprising fairy types such as Zacian and securing OHKOs. U-turn for pivoting.
Y? (Yveltal) @ Leftovers
Ability: Dark Aura
Tera Type: Dark
EVs: 248 HP / 76 SpD / 184 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Defog
- Dark Pulse
- Toxic
- Roost
Yveltal is surprisingly bulky; don't get caught up by its base stats. I use Yveltal mainly to spread Toxic around like a plague and Defog any kind of Sticky Web of sorts. Dark pulse is there so Yveltal isn't completely helpless, and Roost for recovery. The given EVS give it great bulk, with minor edge over special attacks and barely enough speed to outspeed the Primals. I use leftovers over Boots because that extra recovery is pretty sweet, and SR almost never turns 2HKOs into OHKOs anyway. Overall, this bird has been really useful for my team.
Threat list:
-Kyogre-Primal: This thing steamrolls. With no sp def bulky pokemon, your best bet would be to switch in to Primal groudon to neutralize water attacks, then spam Precipes Blades. If this guy switches into your Primal groudon, then there'll be trouble; You'll have to switch into a physical attacker like Zacian and hope it survives. Luckily, not that many people are running the whale.
-Marshadow: As stated, this guy could easily beat Arceus. If Arceus is Tera'd with a DDance and Marshadow hits a spectral thief, it'll be pretty hard to stop. Primal Groudon, Yveltal, and Zacian are all checks, but they aren't surefire ones.
-Zygarde: Its simply too bulky. The only way to reliably handle it is with Koraidon, and if Zygarde is running Coil, that one check would be almost neutralized. Zacian gets run over by Thousand Arrows. Groudon, too. Arceus couldn't live that many boosted attacks, though it could stop a sweep using Taunt. Yveltal might get a toxic off but that's all it could do. All told, this team couldn't;t handle Zygarde that well.
Now, let's address the Donphan in the room; what should the sixth pokemon be? Aware that most of my team are physical attackers, I assume that I'll need either a special wall or a special attacker for the last slot. However, none of options I've tried worked. Blissey and Chancey is far too passive and too weak to physical attacks. Primal Kyogre gets ran over by physical attackers due to its low speed (and I keep missing Origin Pulses for some reason). Both Giratinas have the problematic Ghost-Dragon typing, which compounds weaknesses with tera Ghost Arceus and Koraidon. Lugia's typing is also weak, compounding dark, ghost, ice, and electric weaknesses. Mewtwo (Both Megas) are FAR too weak by Ubers standards. Xerneas gets OHKOd by more offensive variant of Primal Groudon, who is already somewhat problematic to my team. I didn't even bother trying M-Alakazam.
I'm at a loss here. I have no idea how to fill in the last team slot, so any suggestions would be incredibly helpful. Besides that, this team is pretty powerful. For the sixth member, I would suggest using Xerneas or M-Mewtwo-Y. I had the highest number of success with these pokemon, although still not enough to warrant a permanent place in the team. If you have your own ideas, please place them down below. Thanks!
