7ay's King of Syberia: offensive hail uu

This is a team I'm posting for 7ay, its a New UU hail team that has proved successful and not to mention deadly! I shall leave this to 7ay!

climbed to #5 on the ladder. Now if we can all agree that (Trolly doesnt ****ing count!) you could say it got #4

Baraq Insane Pujamas (Abomasnow) @ Leftovers
Ability: Snow Warning
EVs: 248 HP/252 Atk/8 SDef
Brave nature (+Atk, -Spd)
- Ice Shard
- Leech Seed
- Wood Hammer
- Protect

All "hail" our newest presedent!
abomasnow is major threat to most of new uu, rips through most leads and can hit pretty hard before having to even switch out.
This guy also takes thunderbolts and grass knots aimed at walrein!Abomasnow has been known to stop cm Raikou. Ice shard for surprise factor over mixed set and priority which is always important

Kun (Raikou) @ Leftovers
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 144 HP/220 Spd/104 SAtk/40 SDef
Timid nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Calm Mind
- Substitute
- Thunderbolt
- Hidden Power [Ground]

Raikou is one of the greatest assets to this team, able to CM up and devistate threats such as The Nidos, Steelix, drifblim, Froslass and countless others! "im not at liberty to divulge which pokes wall him completely ill leave that to you to figure out"
devistates threats after a few cms.

Cloak (Froslass) @ Brightpowder
Ability: Snow Cloak
EVs: 4 Def/252 Spd/252 SAtk
Timid nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Destiny Bond
- Blizzard
- Substitute
- Thunderbolt

froslass - some say its cheap and im not arguing it isnt. but you cant ban an ability-Frosslass is my main spammer of Blizzard which for some reason is surprisingly absent in most of my hail teams.

King of Syberia (Walrein) @ Leftovers
Ability: Ice Body
EVs: 248 HP/160 Def/100 SDef
Bold nature (ef, -Atk)
- Protect
- Substitute
- Surf
- Toxic

wailrein was viable in ou a long time ago but i dont think it would work aswell now in ou.
Surf over blizzard for pp and type coverage. whatever surf cant hit toxic can usually take care of
is walled heavily by Venusaurs, crobats & toxicroak
dpffb407.png

Roserade @ Leftovers
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 252 Spd/252 SAtk/4 SDef
Timid nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Aromatherapy
- Toxic Spikes
- Sleep Powder
- Leaf Storm

rozy can make a man happy she does 5 things well. Sleeps with powder, absorbs spikes, sets them down , aromatherepies my toxic hit wialrein and sleeping archainine and has a mean leaf
strom

dpmfb059.png

Flamer (Arcanine) @ Choice Band
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 252 Atk/4 Def/252 Spd
Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Crunch
- Flare Blitz
- Extremespeed
- Iron Head

Every hail team needs a Flash Fire poke. and out of the many that their are i went with Arcanine for Crunch and Extremespeed.
120 base + STAB+ FlashFire+ CB= staggering 505base Flare Blitz which can effectivly 2 ko Milotic that arent super defensive. That is, if flash fire is activated.

I hope you have enjoyed this look into 7ay's team, constructive critisism would be greatly appreciated!

God that froslass is very annoying, it's my biggest problem so far from yours and panamaxis's hail teams. But I can see a pretty big rock weak here, since more than half your pokes are weak to it, lucky for you rock type attacks are pretty inaccurate and your froslass dodge a lot of them. Perhaps switching Roserade over for Nidoqueen might be a good idea. Not weak to fire, can still absorb toxic spikes, and resists rock, but it's weak to ground making your team vulnerable to powerful earthquakes.

Also I don't really like hp ground on raikou simply because it doesn't allow you to attack claydol or gligar (which wdro uses with his bp team). Better alternatives would be shadow ball, :p, or better yet hidden power ice or fire. Fire still allows you torch Steelix, if that's what you're after, and also lets you burn pesky grass types like an opposing abomasnow.

Just like to add that I'm a good friend of 7ays and I was going to post the team myself but oh well. And also to demon238, he was using HP Ice but he got tired of Steelixes and what not walling him late game. As it is he gets rid of Claydol and Gligar with just about everything else on the team so there is no real point of HP Ice. Ground gives better general coverage because he has no other ground moves on the team.

Cool Team, but clefable is a real pain. For this reason I'd suggest a CB Thick fat Hariyama over Arcanine, you still get a fire resist and CB, but you have an easier time against clefable, but then Scarf typhlosion becomes a pain.

To be honest, I think if you remove one member of the team to cover a threat, you open yourself up to a new one. The team is great, the most replaceable member is probably roserade for nidoqueen for a rock resistance.

EDIT: Hariyama would help you against opposing chanseys.

In my experiences Froslass tends to die too quickly to effectively block Rapid Spin (but considering you made it to the top 5, it probably isn't an issue). I like the idea of Arcanine on a hail team, I might just steal it. :Q

No, frosslass is pretty much the MVP on hail teams (mine and this one anyway). Only lead frosslass's die early, it should hang around a while due to snow cloak.

I'll rate this, due to my serious frusteration with the fact that this is still in the metagame, and the fact that "offensive Hail Team" is an Oxymoron.

Your team is, as much as i hate to admit it, a very well built team. It takes advantage of the fact that you need seriously no prediction skill to play it with protect against the CB'ers that could damage your team(meant to be a complement). The one time i won, and the one-two times i came close, were because i had a Rock Move on Blaziken, and also i predicted very very perfectly with my CB.

HP Ground is a good choice, due to steels being able to live against your rediculous 100% accurate 120 Freezing abilities.

The only thing i can suggest, is using Nidoqueen or Cloyster>Roserade. Stop trying to convince yourself its an offensive team =P. They get you a rock resist, and if you play smart, you will do far greater with those two pokemon, as opposed to relying on aromatherapy. You should also, definately put Stealth Rock on one of those pokemon if you add them, or just put it on Froslass. Also Spikes could help on him too. You're team would seriously not be beatable.

However, with all these things somehow coming out of my mind, i think i need to make a point here.

Hail teams are BROKEN! Im not the only one who thinks so either. Snow Cloak is better than Double Team, if they allow hail, they should definately bring back Double Team. Walrein is plain and simple, just broken. When something is unkillable without having to use an attack, thats simply broken. Congrats to the people who exploited this, but really, i wouldnt start bragging about rating with it.

Hopefully people wont get selfish and deny the fact that its broken, and will vote it out when its time.

Is it enough that the last 3 UU rmts have been Hail Teams?

Froslass really suffers from not having the recovery from leftovers. Without a spinner or a wish passer on the team, it can only come in once or twice more after SR and a sub. Leftovers should take the place of brightpowder to ensure that Froslass can last longer.

As for Arcanine, I would suggest using Thunder Fang over Iron Tail to hit bulky waters harder. Iron Tail only adds coverage against Rock Types, which I'll admit will eat your team up pretty badly, but it has such poor coverage, which a CBer needs, that you'll probably never use it.

Lastly, the EVs on Raikou seem pretty random. I guess 220 speed is used to beat all the 115s running 216 speed, or perhaps it outspeeds purugly(lol), but the extra bulk is unnecessary considering that letting it get more than one turn of set up would be overly generous of the opponent.

It's a good team, but I have to wonder how you get around your rock weakness and general susceptibility to QuakeEdge since 5/6 members are weak to it and Roserade might as well be weak to it considering its defenses. Rock polishers such as Torterra and Rhydon will rip through the team once Abomasnow is taken down. Relicanth and Camerupt don't even need Abomasnow to be dead to sweep your team with relative ease(but who uses those things anymore, right?). However, I'm not sure how to deal with this problem without doing a major overhaul on your team.

I don't know why you hold a grudge against hail teams, but they are not as broken as you claim. Hail teams are reasonably predictable, have inherent type disadvantages, and, therefore, not too difficult to prepare against. Saying that hail teams are broken implies that you haven't actively sought out a method to beat hail teams.

Its the same reason Garchomp was banned, but moreso in this case. You need to put a counter on your team, gimping your team otherwise. Stall teams have less trouble vs hail, but this metagame is turning into Stall Teams and Hail Teams.

The trouble for most teams vs hail, is the fact that you dont NEED a rock counter. Snow Coak+80% Accuracy move with 8 PP? Not to mention, substitute and protect spams. HP rock is easily set up bait for Raikou.

Why are you combining SubCM Raikou with a weather effect that takes away its Leftovers recovery? Leftovers is very important for SubCM Raikou to set up effectively and you are robbing it of that which makes no sense at all. You'd really be better off just throwing Choice Specs on Raikou entirely; but even still Raikou just doesn't really fit well on hail teams.

Don't take this personally, but I honestly think this team requires a lot of work. Your ladder ranking is nice, but I don't see this being that effective. It looks more like random things thrown together just because. SubCM Raikou doesn't fit at all with Hail robbing of its health. You lack any sort of Rapid Spinner and you four of your Pokemon take 25% damage every time they switch into Stealth Rock. Mixed offensive / stall hail teams really want, nay need, as much residual damage as possible and you are lacking Spikes (which is passable) and Stealth Rock (which honestly should be mandatory on any teams - in particular Hail because the residual damage helps out a lot) entirely. Arcanine doesn't seem to be helping the team in terms of resistances / immunities / ability. Arcanine is taking 25% every time it switches in, then 6.25% per turn from Hail, and recoil damage from its main STAB move Flare Blitz. It's very difficult for me to give you solid suggestions since it does require a full overhaul. Possibly throwing in Claydol over Raikou (who isn't do shit for the team) wouldn't be bad since you essentially need a Fighting / Rock resist and a Rapid Spin + Stealth Rocker. Claydol > Raikou may seem completely arbitrary, and I'll admit it is somewhat. But Raikou isn't contributing much of anything as far as I can see.

This is like a part hail / part stall team that hasn't really been combined well together. I see this team needing a total overhaul to be honest, much more work than a single rater could do. I would first start with reading our Hail stall article that is on-site ( http://www.smogon.com/dp/articles/art_hail_stall ). The article isn't designed for UU, but the outlined principles still hold true and can help.

I'm surprised no one pointed this out:

Replace Toxic on Walrein with Roar, you already have Toxic Spikes support. Roar gives you a very sturdy phazer.

I have finally arrived! It was a long time coming for sure. Now im happy as a clown!

Ive made some changes to my team. I did what Caelum suggested and put on a Claydol. Not only does it help me with my rock weak. but it sets up stealth rocks, rapid spins, icebeam, earthpower. Max defense. Its been working really well and i am thankfull to ShadowBlaze for posting my team so I could make it better. I still miss Raikou. But hes still around on my version II with hp fire over ground.

I also gave froslass Lefties and Spikes over Dbond

@Erazor - Sometimes Rozy cant get the spikes down in time. So Toxic stays on Wailrein. I know i am in need of a phazer. But i will have to suffer without one.

Anyway. I tried this team with Nidoqueen and Hitmontop in place of Raikou. I didnt like it very much. So im using Claydol for good. Claydol is immune to thunderbolt and earthquake which is a bonus.

Thank you all again for rating my team

Have you tried entei yet? Because you have serious issues against clefable and entei can pressure stall out. If you get encored, just switch to frosslass on the seismic toss, come back in and rest up.

The set is:
252 hp / 252 def / 4 sp. def
Calm Mind
Flamethrower
Rest
Sleep Talk

I use it on my hail teams and its amazing.
