Hello fellow Smogoners, I've recently built a couple of ORAS UU teams, as I have got back into the tier recently and this team is one of my favorite teams. However, I can't seem to get past the mid 1400s and I'm trying to reach reqs for the hydreigon suspect, so I think I will need some changes. Thanks for any help.
Escavalier (M) @ Assault Vest/ Leftovers
Ability: Overcoat
EVs: 172 HP / 252 Atk / 84 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Megahorn
- Iron Head
- Knock Off
- Drill Run
Escavilier is a very solid check to celebi, shaymin, reuniclus, cresselia, and can usually even 1v1 hp fire pokemon like Sylveon if need be. I picked Escavilier because I was having real issues with BP Celebi on my old teams and I wanted a strong, bulky attacker.
Megahorn and Iron Head are my STAB's and Drill Run is to punish Fire types who switch directly in and to weaken Empoleon and Tentacruel. Knock Off doesn't hit a lot that megahorn doesn't hit harder, but it's useful to punish switch ins and to knock off eviolites from porygon 2 and doublade. I'm not sure if I should use AV or Lefties since most special attackers in UU either have fire coverage or scald, both of which I'm not beating with or without AV. Any help here would be appreciated.
Blastoise (F) @ Blastoisinite
Ability: Rain Dish
EVs: 184 HP / 252 SpA / 72 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Rapid Spin
- Scald
- Dark Pulse
- Ice Beam
Mega Blastoise fits nicely with Escavilier as it can comfortably take on Fire types. Escavilier can take on shaymin and celebi for Blastoise while Blastoise takes care of Infernape and Entei. The EV's are pretty self explanitory and modest nature lets Blastoise hit like a truck. Dark Pulse and Scald allow me to beat all the spinblockers so blastoise is usually guaranteed a rapid spin every battle. Ice beam allows me to damage grass and flying types and lets me damage mons like Goodra.
Sylveon (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Pixilate
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Bold Nature
- Hyper Voice
- Heal Bell
- Wish
- Protect
Sylveon serves as a great wish passer and cleric along with being able to check the likes of non-cb krookidile, goodra, mega absol, meinshao, and other physical attackers. Because of Sylv's natural special bulk, it can also withstand some special attackers like Espeon and Blastoise if it needs too. Sylveon's main job is to pass wishes to Blastoise and Escavilier, both of which are prone to being wore down due to no recovery options. Heal Bell is great mostly for paralysis since I don't have a paralysis absorber. Sylv also hits pretty hard with a pixalated hyper voice even with it not being invested.
Goodra (F) @ Choice Specs
Ability: Sap Sipper
EVs: 212 HP / 252 SpA / 44 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Draco Meteor
- Fire Blast
- Sludge Bomb
- Thunderbolt
Goodra is a monstorous special attacker when given choice specs. Because of Goodra's phenominal coverage options, there really isn't a safe switch into this set. Goodra helps me take on Grass types phenominally with goodra's naturally high special bulk and sap sipper. This set usually acts as a lead and can beat a lot of common leads including galvantula, swampert, and aero along with hazard setters such as tentacruel and foretress. This set also lets me weaken a lot of physical walls, so escavilier and Lucario can sweep easier. Draco Meteor can severly damage almost all neutral targets the exceptions being porygon2 and blissey, which I have Lucario for. Fire Blast hurts cobalion, mega aggron, fortress, and other steels while sludge bomb hits sylveon and florges hard along with 2hkoing pokemon like infernape and galvantula. Thunderbolt hits the bulky waters and things like Aero and crobat.
Lucario (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Justified
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Close Combat
- Bullet Punch
- Earthquake
Lucario's main role is to sweep late game or clean up. Swords Dance lets me deal massive damage to the opponent and is relatively easy to set up since lucario does force some switches. I wanted a hard hitting physical attacker with priority that also has good synergy with the rest of my team. I know that when you're running bullet punch you should run adamant, but I really like being able to outspeed the nido's and max plas chandelure. Bullet punch helps me kill Slurpuff and does more to Sylv, which are mons I have trouble with. From my experience, most of the mons that Espeed is better for, like Entei my team already covers fine so I haven't experienced any issues by running BP.I'd rather not change this set, unless if there is a way my team can still beat the same things while running e speed or adamant.
Swampert (F) @ Leftovers
Ability: Torrent
EVs: 240 HP / 16 Atk / 252 Def
Relaxed Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Earthquake
- Scald
- Roar
Swampert's main role is to set up rocks and to phaze out set up sweepers and rack up rocks damage. While pert and blastoise both cover many of the same pokemon, swampert puts a lot of pressure off blastoise and allows him to sustain longer. This set is mainly meant to take on Darmanitan, Entei, and to phaze out set up sweepers such as gyarados and crawdaunt. Scald can also punish some of these set up mons making Swampert an excellent anti set up pokemon.
Thanks for any feedback and help.
