Changes in bold!
Hello All;
I love making teams, started back in gen 5 and have been playing on and off competitively. I made a team when X and Y came out and reached 1450ish back then. It took me several team changes to get it this far from trial and error and criticism but with the new ORAS metagame, I fear I need help again to keep this team great =/. Please help me make this team solid again.
(Midori) Venusaur @ Venusaurite
Ability: Thick Fat
EVs: 232 HP / 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 20 Spe
Modest Nature
- Synthesis
- Giga Drain
- Sludge Bomb
- Knock off
My Bulky Special attacker. Venusaur loves to switch into grass moves like spore, grass moves aimed at Rotom, toxic aimed by walls etc, and fighting moves aimed at heatran. I chose a special attacking venusaur in order to make will-o-wisps less of a problem and still be able to hit back normally. Set was suggested by Specs Fake-Out in order to add more offensive presence. I've added Knock off despite the minus nature since I am always likely to get burned and prefer the special attack power. It helps me against grass walls like amoonguss that try to stall me with their black sludge recovery.
(Foundori) Heatran @ Leftovers
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 248 HP / 204 Sdef / 52 Spe
Calm Nature
- Lava Plume
- Roar
- Stealth Rock
- Ancient Power
My Sdef wall, phazer and rock setter. A talonflame counter and has great synergy with my team. I decided to use roar to help stop setups. SR because it helps against that zard y along with the ancient power to hurt opposing fire types. Speed EVs to help set rock on normally faster targets.
(Honeywell) Rotom-Wash @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 248 HP / 216 Def / 44 Spe
Bold Nature
- Hydro Pump
- Volt Switch
- Will-O-Wisp
- Pain Split
My Defensive wall, second bird spam check, and volturn core with landorus. Suggested by Specs Fake-Out again in order to have a heatran switch in. Will-o-wisp to help against physical threats and volt switch to provide a safe switch in for my pokemans Pain split for some sort of healing.
I looked at my bulky FWG core and realized I lacked real speed. The new metagame is full of fast mons which led me to include:
(Bumi) Landorus-Therian (M) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 28 HP / 252 Atk / 228 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Earthquake
- Stone Edge
- U-turn
- Knock Off
My revenge killer and physical choiced sweeper. I lacked speed and Landorus-T had offense and speed when scarfed. Intimidate allows it to switch in more, which I tend to take advantage of against excadril (switch in and take a hit or on a predicted earthquake and scare it out or ko. U-turn for the momentum and dark types like Tyranitar, knock off for those evolite and psychic types, stone edge for flying types, and quake for stab.
(Chai) Latias @ Life Orb
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 72 HP / 184 Sp.Atk. / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Psyshock
- Draco Meteor
- Roost
- Defog
Next was my defoger and special sweeper. Latias can switch in on quakes aimed at heatran and gets rid of hazards safely once bisharps are out of the match. Draco meteor as a before death fire work display or for a ko. Psyshock for the blissey/chansey I encounter. Roost to help give me more of 1 chance to defog if needed.
(Larimar) Gyarados (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Intimidate
EVs: 56 HP / 220 Atk / 232 Spe
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Dragon Dance
- Waterfall
- Bounce
- Substitute
Next is my set up sweeper; Gyarados uses its offense to help clean up later in the match. Using sub and leftovers to help prevent a status affect, it ddances and threatens enemy M-Venusaur which I have had to outstall....with my own M-Venusaur...not fun lol. Also uses intimidate to help lessen switch-in damage when not on an Equake prediction and to cause switches. Gyrados is also my answer to Mega Sableye after a sub is up.
Welp, that's my team. Its taken me at least 13 team changes(lost count, tried so many ou mons, even Conkledur and espeon =/) to get to this point. I've only made it to 1450ish back then and am currently trying this new team out. Please help my team in anyway you can ^^.
