A Blast from the Past
Hi everybody! Now that the UU meta is calming down a bit, I decided to make a team based on SubCM Keldeo. There really are few safe switch-ins/checks once Keldeo is behind a sub: Mega Gard, Infiltrator Crobat, Jellicent, Roserade and Toxicroak. So, I built this team to get rid of those checks with ease and facilitate the Keldeo Sweep. Without further ado; A blast from the past!
Celebi@ Leftovers
Calm Nature
Natural Cure
252 HP/4 Sp Attack/ 252 Sp def (not sure if it's worth to speed creep)
-Healing Wish
-Giga Drain
-Recover
-Thunder Wave
Celebi is a great pivot for this team and can tank special hits all day. Giga Drain is for HP recovery and damaging pokes. Recover is self explanatory. T-Wave is to support this team since I don't have too many fast pokes even though it did get nerfed with electric types now immune to paralysis. Healing Wish is to give another team member a second chance in the battle due to misprediction, etc.. He is also the first part of my FWG Core.
Rhyperior@ Leftovers
Adamant Nature
Solid Rock
248 HP/ 16 Atk/ 244 Sp Def
-Stealth Rock
-Rock Blast
-Earthquake
-Dragon Tail
Rhyperior is a good ol' fashioned tank that has fantastic synergy with Celebi. SR is a necessity. Rock Blast and Earthquake are the STAB moves of choice (Stone Edge's accuracy is just bad). Dragon Tail for pseudo-phazing. The EV spread was taken from last Gen's set to maximize overall bulk. He really did appreciate the Hidden Power Nerf this gen. Whatever electric type Celebi can't paralyze, Rhyperior can just blast them away (Rotom-H, Zapdos, etc..)
Blastoise@ Blastoisinite
Modest Nature
Mega Launcher
252 HP/ 252 Sp Atk/ 4 Def
-Rapid Spin
-Water Pulse
-Dark Pulse
-Aura Sphere
Obviously Rhyperior and Celebi share a weakness to ice, so Blastoise was a great fit. It's fantastic bulk combined with its power goes a long way. Rapid Spin is well Rapid Spin lol. Water Pulse was chosen for the mega launcher boost and chance to cause confusion. Dark Pulse nails the ghosts that try to spin block (jellicent). Aura Sphere was chosen for overall coverage and to hit crawdaunt. This is another part of my FWG core.
Metagross@ Assault Vest
Adamant Nature
Clear Body
252 HP/ 252 Atk/ 4 Sp Def
-Bullet Punch
-Meteor Mash
-Zen Headbutt
-Earthquake
AV Metagross is definitely a MetaBOSS. He is my check to whatever special attackers Celebi can't handle (Mega Gard for example). Max Hp and Atk give it great overall bulk. Bullet Punch is for priority. Meteor Mash nails Fairy types hard. Zen Headbutt is the other STAB move to hit a lof other pokes for neutral damage. Earthquake rounds about the coverarage nicely. AV helps Meta alot. I believe that Mega-Manectric's flamethrower only does 40% while earthquake is a guranteed OHKO (thanks to its immunity to intimidate).
Chandelure@ Choice Scarf
Timid Nature
Flash Fire
252 Sp Atk/ 4 Sp Def/ 252 Speed
-Trick
-Fire Blast
-Shadow Ball
-Energy Ball
TrickScarf Chandy is a definite threat. It's ghost STAB only got better this gen. Chandy is able to OHKO Mega-Cham with Shadow Ball, can almost OHKO Mega Gard with previous damage. Trick cripples most walls. Fire Blast and Shadow Ball are the Main STABS. Energy Ball rounds out the coverage to hit quagsire, swampy, etc.. Also, Energy ball does around 70-80% to Diggersby, which puts it into range to be Koed by Metagross' Bullet Punch. He is also the lure for the last poke to lure in all the dark attacks...
Keldeo@ Leftovers
Timid Nature
Justified
252 Sp Atk/ 4 Sp Def/ 252 Speed
-Substitute
-Calm Mind
-Secret Sword
-Surf
Last, but not least is Keldeo. It's a pretty simple, but effective set. Once you sub up and start setting up CM, it's very difficult to check Keldeo. Secret Sword and Surf are chosen for STAB moves. Surf has more PP and better accuracy. After a few boosts, he can start to wall SE hits. He's need team support, but he will get the job done.
So, this is my team,! I've found Diggersby and Zapdos the most problematic pokes. While Celebi can tank the earthquakes, it cannot handle the U-Turn or Return, which Rhyperior must stomach. So, it puts me in a bit of a mindgame, which is not good. Zapdos has great coveragein T-Bolt, Heat wave and Hidden Power to hit my team hard. I am open to changing EV spreads (especially on Celebi and Rhyperior), but I would like to keep the overall dynamic of the team roughly the same...
Thanks again for reading! Please be honest!
And, if you ever want to battle, I'm starting to do UU wifi Battles for Gen VI!!
