Hello all you fancy raters out there! My name is Uatthescool and do I have a team for you to rate... Mostly because I can't figure out what is wrong with it. I battle with it ferociously and I can get on certain streaks of five or so wins and then lose one or two...or my next thirty... it all depends on the day. I can say with confidence that I have yet to be swept completely. I've been playing for about a week and a half and I seem to have leveled off around the 1275 range in OU.
How I began the Team
It all started on a dark and dreary day when I was cooped up in my dorm and found Showdown... arguably the greatest human innovation the world has ever known. It was during this particular time that I started fiddling with some of my favorite pokemon. (Blaziken, Maganium, Ninetales, and Crobat) After a battle hardened week of losing because Blaziken made my team of happy campers face the Primordal God that is Groudon game after game... I decide to drop him. And I dropped Maganium, because while she holds sentimental value as my first Pokemon, lets face it... she sucks...
So here we are. Crobat and Ninetales... The beginning of my team.
Psycro (Crobat) @ Choice Band
Ability: Infiltrator
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Brave Bird
- U-turn
- Defog
- Cross Poison
This is a pretty straight forward set. He's basically a poisonous Talonflame (which I hate by the way). I have a choice band because he's fast enough as is with upwards of 390 Speed, and extra attack never hurt anyone. I have infiltrator to get past those pesky substorm Serperiors (which I hate almost as much as Talonflame). U-Turn for getting out of battle, and defog for kicks. I actually use defog a lot and it's won a few battles, believe it or not. The EVs are spread so that he gets max speed (with Jolly) and highish attack. Brave Bird does a lot of damage at high speeds with this set.
Scarlett (Ninetales) (F) @ Air Balloon
Ability: Drought
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Flamethrower
- Solar Beam
- Hidden Power [Ground]
- Toxic/Wil-O-Wisp/Hypnosis/Attract
This lovely lady right here is the heart and soul of my team. I use the air balloon so she can't get quaked (and I find it funny when people try anyway and it clearly says balloon under her name). Gotta have the drought, Brohan. The EV's and Nature are aligned so she hits the most without getting out sped. I have the timid nature on her so she can hang with the other 328 speed Pokes in the metagame. Flamethrower is the most reliable fire move she's got (I've lost games from fireblast misses) and solar beam is OP in the sun and counters Pokes such as Quagsire and Swampert. I now know of a Pokemon we all know as Heatran. So hidden power ground is the better choice for the third slot as it 2HKOs a Heatran The last slot is a preference on how I feel that day. Most point out that toxic is worthless against steel types, which is okay because of Flamethrower, which doesn't work on Heatran, and now we are back to point C. Hidden Power Ground. I like toxic as a wall breaker personally, but I've been beaten numerous times by Will-O-Wisp+Talonflame so I guess they both work. However you could always run Hypnosis or even attract.
Next I had to figure out what to put around her and the bat... so I thought, why not a mega?
Sensei (Medicham-Mega) @ Medichamite
Ability: Pure Power
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 Spe / 4 SpD
Jolly Nature
- High Jump Kick
- Bullet Punch
- Fake Out
- Ice Punch
This is the most reliable mega I've found and I love it so much. It's close to my Blaziken and fills the void he left when I dropped from Ubers. Pure Power is amazing and one of my favorite abilities. I have the EVs spread to get him to that 328 speed that every other Pokemon seems to have, and still keep his ATK strong and formidable. High Jump Kick is a heartbreaker to your opponent (if it hits), otherwise you wind up heart broken... but thats a gamble I'm willing to take. And it's paid off time after time. It hits so hard that after a fake out it can KO a lot of Pokemon. Bullet Punch is for fairies (he's my fairy killer) and Ice Punch is for Drags (He's also my drag killer). Fake Out is just a free move that works marvelously.
And because of Cham's Pure Power ability being so clutch (along with seeing it's variants used by other people) I was lead to this bad A.
Azuwannapunch (Azumarill) (F) @ Assault Vest
Ability: Huge Power
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 76 HP / 252 Atk / 156 Def / 4 SpD/ 20 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Aqua Jet
- Knock Off
- Play Rough
- Waterfall
Azumarill is nasty. She has an awesome type combination (no more bullet punches), and has Huge Power. I run her with an assault vest because she only has attacks and the way her EVs line up it makes her really bulky with 235 Defense and 196x1.5 (294) SpD and a not so bad 360 HP. Her Adamant Nature gives her a whopping 436 attack and that alone should be scary. The Speed bonus is so she can outspend other base 50s. Aqua Jet and Waterfall give a good STAB attack with a priority move and a strong move with 20% flinch respectively. Play Rough is another good STAB attack that happens to kill dragons and has a 10% chance to lower attack by one stage (not really that big a deal but I thought I'd throw that in there). And finally knock off for those leftover jerks, LO users, or maybe a scarfer or two (and it still does hella damage). Another option would be to run her with 96 speed EVs to outspend base 80s.
After assembling these core cats, I found myself in constant need of a permanent lead that could get his job done. So of course I went to Golem xD
Geohero (Golem) @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Sturdy
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Sucker Punch
- Fire Punch/Stone Edge
- Earthquake/Explosion
I found this gem by complete accident. I had no idea what I was doing and it somehow led to this. His name is Geohero for a reason. I've actually swept TWO games using just him (granted they were probably luck, it was still awesome). With sturdy, he usually gets a free stealth rock (only rarely do you see some whack job running a lead with a multiple hit move on the first turn). Rocky Helmet gives you that 1/6 HP drop when hit. With Adamant nature this guy has a pretty decent 372 ATK and the HP EVs bulk him up a bit. I have been using the EdgeQuake Coverage; however, Ferrothorn would not be expecting Fire Punch. So sometimes I use Fire Punch. I've found that most leads are usually steel, rock, or flying... with the occasional Ghost. And thats why I have Sucker Punch. It destroys Gengar when he switches in on an Earthquake and really ticks some people off. Its also really good midgame when you can throw him in on someone with 8% health.
(EVERYTHING AFTER THIS HAS BEEN CHANGED)
The last slot gave me hella trouble. I needed a last, power-house slayer that could switch in on all of my threats (Talonflame, Rotom-W, and M-Lopp in particular) and still hold his own as a sweeper. I tried many Pokemon from really bad to kinda good. I tried Tyrantrum (FAIL), Dragonite (FAIL), and even Arcanine, and he wasn't bad but something was missing. I finally tried a freeze-dry Articuno and that was fun but sadly it also fell short of the perfection I desired. I was sitting here thinking to myself... wouldn't it be awesome if I could hit Rotom-W with an Earthquake? In comes Haxorus.
Jack (Haxorus) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Mold Breaker
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Earthquake
- Rock Slide
- Poison Jab
- Outrage
Say hello to Jack the Ripper. He is with out a doubt the exclamation point on my team now. I expect to stay within the high 1300s on my rating system and possibly go further with this guy manning the backcourt. With his EdgeQuake coverage and Mold Breaker he can switch in on anybody and his attack is well over 400 so I don't need a Choice Band. With a Choice Scarf and his EVs aligned as they are, his Speed is 440. I have no idea why this guy is in the UU tier. Poison Jab destroys fairies such as Azumarill (which is why I have it over Iron Head). And finally a 120 BP STAB Outrage on a 432 attack Haxorus with 440 speed is just ridiculous. I mean are you kidding me? Someone do the math on that an put it in the replies... My brain hurts.
Thank you for rating my team and have an amazing life.
