A Final Fantasy Summon OU RMT (kinda)

So as the title suggests, I've made a team of some of my favourite pokemon just renamed to final fantasy summons (except one poke). The team itself feels quite messy and although I tried to incorporate some stratergies I don't think they work well so that's why I've come here. First I'll go through the Team Building process.

Team Building

Spr_4h_230.png

So as with most teams, it starts off with a single Pokemon, and mine was Kingdra. One of my fav poke since Gen II the general bulk and offensive capabilities combined with the single weakness made me consider it a strong starting point and I also thought of a nickname i.e Leviathan and this is where the whole FF theme also came from. With Kingdra in tow, I wanted something that would greatly benefit from Kingdra's ability to make opponents make multiple switches, so I thought I need some lay down support.

Spr_4h_230.png
Spr_4h_142.png

Welcome Typhon (Aerodactyl). A solid lead that is pretty much guaranteed SR, but also, a powerful Pokemon in its own right. The ability to outspeed other leads, Taunting and screwing up the opponents starting momentum is what this bird is all about and boy does he do it well. Not only that but with RS and EQ in tow, the amount of times, if at full health he can be brought in and help get that important kill on a Pokemon, or even just cripple an opponents Pokemon before dying can help me. So now I have SR and Kingdra, so I think "Hmm, maybe I can capitalize on the switches a bit more, not by damage but through status? But can also annoy and force switches itself while soaking up a hit or two and maybe be my own little status absorber. But who?" Welcome pokemon number 3.

Spr_4h_230.png
Spr_4h_142.png
Spr_4p_407_f.png

In comes the one Poke I could think of to do all these things, Nymph (Roserade). Now I know before anyone says Nymph is more well known as being a FF enemy but I couldn't think of a grass summon so....yea. This pokemon plays quite an important part on my team, the staus absorber thanks to NC, laying down Toxic Spikes as well as absorbing them, and being able to soak up a few special hits. I went with the SubSeed set as I believed it suited this pokemon role in my team better as the support/annoyer I craved. The amount of times, I've seen a SubSeeder annoy the hell out of someone, and with it being one of my likable stratergies since Sceptile I thought it was a good way to role, and it doesn't seem all that common so it's a nice surprise. Now, I have my hazards, but a Rapid Spinner can make 3+ turns of setting up completely useless so I think I need a Spin blocker. I see Rotom used so many times I wan't to go for something different and a bit more tanky and then it hits me, the perfect Pokemon for me and another one of my favourites.

Spr_4h_230.png
Spr_4h_142.png
Spr_4p_407_f.png
Spr_4p_477.png

Hades (Dusknoir) was my choice for a couple of reasons. I like the physical touch he adds to the team. I decided to go for the SubPunch set as it adds an effective way for me to kill Blissey and make her pretty much, unable to touch me, switch in Dusk, sub-up on the switch, then I have a comfortable position. Also he adds something this team so far lacks, an effectve way to take down set-uppers who have sacrificed alot of health to get that stat ups via Shadow Sneak. This has saved me a good few times in past times when I've used Dusknoir and he has killed and prevented that Pokemon completely killing me and as I lacked a Phazer, I considered it to be the second best thing. Now, I have the defence in my team, I need a strong offence. So, I think back to the whole FF theme and the holy trinity of Water, Fire and Electric. Firstly, I notice I don't have a Special sweeper and so here comes my fire pokemon.

Spr_4h_230.png
Spr_4h_142.png
Spr_4p_407_f.png
Spr_4p_477.png
Spr_4p_485.png

Ifrit (Heatran) adds the Revenge killing element to my team I need and also a complete Fire immunity. Also, due to it being Scarfran it adds alot of cover with FB/EP/HP(Grass)/Explosion covering Electric, Grass, Steel, Rock and thanks to HP Grass, that pesky Swampert which my team can't really handle effectively. So, I need one more Pokemon, an Electric pokemon and one that can add a bit more offence to my team. So I think, what is one of the most used Poke out there that annoys the hell out of me with its stupid Steel typing, Technician and Bullet Punch and what is the best counter possible to it and is that Electric Pokemon I need to finish off the holy trinity? Ta-da.

Spr_4p_462.png

Ramuh! Come forth! Magnezone, the ultimate Steel-trapping, Scizor counting Pokemon which adds the Electric Pokemon I need, the STAB TBolt and teh counter to Scizor I need, perfect, also takes care of that pesky Fortress after he's blocked by Dusknoir. So there ya go theres my team building run over and now for the next part, my FF Summon (nearly) team.

So here's the team:-

Spr_4p_482.png
Spr_b_g4_482.png

Mog (Azelf) @ Colbur Berry
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 8 HP / 140 Atk / 144 SpD / 216 Spe
Jolly (+Spd, -SpAtk)
- Stealth Rock
- Taunt
- U -Turn
- Explosion

Stealth Rock lets me start putting pressure on my opponents team quickly. Taunt is to prevent the slower leads setting up SR themselves and to force them to either start attacking or too switch. This Azelf also does good work at scouting my opponents team via the lovely U-Turn, letting me bring in a counter to their counter (confusing yea?). So, when they bring in ScarfTar or CBScizor, I've U -Turned and bring in Heatran/Magnezone/Kingdra to counter them. Great lead and when it's effective, starts up the momentum I need. Takes on most leads and does what it is supposed too. Love it.

Spr_4h_230.png
Spr_b_g4_230.png

Leviathan (Kingdra) @ Chesto Berry
Ability: Swift Swim
EVs: 144 HP / 160 Atk / 40 SpD / 164 Spe
Adamant (+Atk, -SpA)
-Dragon Dance
-Outrage
-Waterfall
-Rest
(Credit to Faladran on help with set)

My favourite pokemon of all time. Switch him in on a poke he can scare, start dancing and plough through the opposing team. Just wish he had a better dragon move than Outrage, being locked can seriously cause a loss for me if the opposing team uses that chance to start setting up. Starmie, Vappy and other bulky, non-offensive water's are good set-up fodder. I chose Chesto Berry in order for him to absorb more hits, absorb some status, Rest up when I'm low on health. Used this over my old Sub DD as it adds a few things:-
1) SpDef investments allow me to only be 3HKO'd by Suicune and LO Starmie.
2) ChestoRest let me get in teh maximum amount of DD before I Rest up to full. Slso, speed Ev's allow me to outspeed Scarfgon after 2 DD's.

Spr_4p_485.png
Spr_b_g4_485.png

Ifrit (Heatran) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 SpAtk / 4 SpD
Naive (+ Spd, -SpD)
- Fire Blast
- Earth Power
- Explosion
- Hidden Power (Grass)

Awsome revenge killer. Speedy, and deadly. Can take down most members of an opposing team if they don't suspect him. I am just a bit iffy about Explosion, except for that, love the guy. I'm using HP over DP for teh major reason of Swampert. That git can completely wreck alot of my team, mainly Aero, Kingdra and Magnezone (whose running HP Fire). Another reason he's on my team is I have a Fire weakness through Magnezone and Roserade. Absorbing those fire attacks really helps me.

Spr_4p_462.png
Spr_b_g4_462.png

Ramuh (Magnezone) @ Leftovers
Ability: Magnet Pull
EVs: 40 Atk / 252 Spd / 216 SpAtk
Naive (+Spd, -SpD)
- Thunderbolt
- Expolsion
- Hidden Power (Fire)
- Substitute

My lovely steel obliterator. Scizor and Skarmory don't stand a chance against me with this thing and in all fairness, neither do most steel types. The speed and nature let it outrun Adamant Scizor and doesn't affect the boom power of Explosion. Although, in all fairness, I have yet to use it as I like to keep Magnezone incase there's a pesky Scizor luurking in the opponents team. Again, a big problem is Swampert, with HP Fire to kill Steels, I can't touch Swampert, which is why the next Pokemon is here.

Spr_4p_407_f.png
Spr_b_g4_407_f.png

Nymph (Roserade) @ Leftovers
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 140 HP / 118 Spd / 252 SpD
Calm (+SpD, -Atk)
- Sludge Bomb
- Substitute
- Toxic Spikes
- Leech Seed

My unconventional annoyer and it seems to surprise alot of people. Her aim is to set up Toxic Spikes, everything else is a bonus. My god have people been surprised by this, sending in a Poke to cripple her, only to be met by a Sub'd Roserade ready to seed. This is my favourite Pokemon on this team move wise (sorry Kingdra, still my fav looking poke) as I have always love SubSeeding. The reason I pick Sludge Bomb over Leaf Storm/Eneregy Ball is due to teh fact, if it's the last pokemon on my team, I don't want to have to forefit due to there being a Grass Pokemon and an absence of Toxic Spikes. Sludge Bomb gives me a shot at taking down Celebi, the rare Tangrowth and other Grass Pokemon that like to rear their head.

Hades (Rotom-A)

This one is being a bit of a problem,. I can't decide between a Trick Scarf or a WoW Defensive Rotom, some help here would be nice as I can't decide which would better compliment my team.

Old Pokemon

Spr_4h_142.png
Spr_b_g4_142.png

Typhon (Aerodactyl) @ Focus Sash
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 Atk/ 252 Spd/ 4 Def
Jolly (+Spd, - SpAtk)
- Stealth Rock
- Earthquake
- Rock Slide
- Taunt

The suicide lead. Taunt slower leads, set-up SR and try to use him to dent anything that attempts to take him down. After using Colbur Azelf I have found it to be alot more effective and preventing some Pokemon from preventing me using SR, namely Machamp. Also, too many times this Pokemon could be messed over too quickly, and although he done his job, Azelf does it alot better.

Spr_4p_477.png
Spr_b_g4_477.png

Hades (Dusknoir) @ Leftovers
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpDef
Adamant (+Atk, -SpAtk)
- Focus Punch
- Substitute
- Ice Punch
- Shadow Sneak

Another one that seems to surprise people. I come in to block a Spin, then Sub on the switch with most people bringing in their Tyranitar. Which is quickly demolished via FP. I have also seem Blissey switch into Dusknoir so they can status him up and ruin him only to be met by a Sub and then FP'd after. However, after extensive testing of Rotom-A, I have decided to let Dusknoir hit the side lines ready for my main DDdos counter and prime spin blocker. Also, Rotom can mess many Pokemon over with WoW and Trick that Dusknoir just can't do.

Theres my team in a nut-shell. It seems to want to do multiple things but none of them well and I'm just seeking some advice really. As you may see this team isn't the best team and I know that, but the surprise factor on some movesets and also the mix up allow me a couple fo wins due to people panicking or mis-predicting. There is also some synergy between some of the Pokemon, such as Heatran covering fire weakness from Magnezone and Roserade, Roserade forcing switches spreading SR damage and Toxic, Magnezone trapping Scizor and destroying him, stopping him Pursuiting some of my Pokemon (such as Dusknoir). I know there are some weaknesses on my team, mainly to Swampert and Set-up'ers that, with the lack of WW when get going and are decent health, could take down my whole team. However, I can't see, due to lack of experience exactly where these weaknesses are and would really appreciate help. Cheers.

Threat List

I'm not 100% if I'm missing out anything when I do this list so don't flame me if I have, my first time doing this type of thing. Sorry in advance.

Offensive Threats

Ani482MS.png
Azelf - Not a real threat, can't do much to me, Dusknoir can take down with Shadow Sneak. Trick could be abit annoying but most of my Poke can take it out easily.

Ani286MS.png
Breloom - Can be very annoying. Spore is of course stupidly annoying and if I mispredict it can take down my Pokemon quickly. If I can get Heatran in safetly, it's fine or if Dusknoir can get in and he lacks a Grass move, again, his immunity to fighting is handy. Depends on how quickly I shut him down really and if Heatran can get in.

dpicon149.png
Dragonite - Not a huge threat, Dusknoir has I.Punch, Kingdra has Outrage, again it's just preventing his set-up, if I can do that, it's safe. Also have Scarfran to explode in his face if things look too ugly.

dpicon466.png
Electivire - Could cause me some problems with his huge coverage and only two Pokemon resisting T.Punch (Magnezone and Roserade, both of which he can counter via Earthquake and F.Punch), especially if he comes in and gets a Motor Drive boost. Ofc Scarfran has EP so it shouldn't be too bad.

Ani395MS.png
Empoleon - Magnezone is my best bet for this guy. However, an Agi or SubPetraya set could royally screw me over, especially if Magnezone is against a Sub, it could proper get me. His versatile movepool can also scare the hell out of me.

dpicon330.png
Flygon - Revenge killer with alot of bite behind him. Dusknoir can kill him with I.Punch, annoying but not too much of a threat.

Ani094MS.png
Gengar - Can hurt and depends how his health is. Dusknoir can put a nice dent in him with Shadow Sneak and possibly kill is he's sustained some damamge. Failing that, I can finish him off with my other Pokemon.

Ani130MS.png
Gyarados - Too many Dragon Dances could mess my team over. Getting in there early to wear him down is great so Dusk can finish him off. I've never really had problems with him as most of the times he sacrifices too much health to set up too the point where Dusknoir picks him off.

Ani485MS.png
Heatran - Ouchies. Mis-predicting can make him own me but thats true with everything, generally have enough counters to him, Aero with EQ, Kingdra and Waterfall, Heatran and EP, nothing too scary.

dpicon214.png
Heracross - Could assist him too much with Toxic Spikes support. I haven't really faced too many of these but Scarf versions could really give me some trouble if Heatran isn't available.

Ani392MS.png
Infernape - Can gereally take him down with Kingdra as he can't hit him for SE damage at all. Aero can also mess him up with EQ as can Heat with EP.

Ani385MS.png
Jirachi - Heatran can kill him. Aero with EQ can kill him, not really too concerned about him. Versatility is the main problem, but once I know what I'm dealing with, he generally goes down.

Ani230MS.png
Kingdra - My own kingdra can take him down, as can Heatran if I DP on a DD or DP on the switch in. But if he sets up, he could be a monster.

Ani448MS.png
Lucario - Heatran can kill pretty easily, can threaten a few Pokemon but can't see to many issues.

Ani068MS.png
Machamp - With no flying move or other attacks can really make a dent and that confusion is annoying, one of the more annoying pokemon to deal with.

Ani462MS.png
Magnezone - Heatran can kill it and so can my own Magnezone with HP Fiire. Also have Aero to kill it with EQ. Nothing to worry about really.

Ani473MS.png
Mamoswine - Hit's me hard with my main counter being Dusknoir's FP if I can get a Sub up, such an annoying Pokemon. Heatran can FB it down as well.

Ani376MS.png
Metagross - Heatran can take him down, as could Dusknoir behind a Sub. Aero can hurt him with EQ, however, AgiGross could mess me over with the time to set-up, it's about me hitting him fast and quickly.

dpicon291.png
Ninjask - Can't see too many problems with this one really. Generally, if I can prevent him initially setting up, I'm fine, as he can't switch in with SR and Dusknoir can finish him with SS.

dpicon407.png
Roserade - Choice Scarf version could hurt me, and absorbing my Toxic Spikes could also be annoying. Dusknoir has I.Punch, Heat has FB, Magnezone has HP Fire, so annoying but nothing more.

Ani212MS.png
Scizor - Nothing major here. Enter Magnezone who can out speed him and HP Fire him, also have Heatran to FB him.

Ani121MS.png
Starmie - Another Pokemon that can dent my team. Dusknoir can hurt this one with SS and Kingdra doesn't take significant damage from any of it's attacks and can DD up and Outrage it. Still, something will take some damage from it.

dpicon468.png
Togekiss - It can hurt and obviously Flinchhax isn't the greatest thing to have to go up against but a few of my pokemon can hurt it. Aura Sphereless can be killed by Magnezone, Aero can RS it.

Ani248MS.png
Tyranitar - Generally haven't had troubles with these, they switch in on my Dusknoir ready to Pursuit/Crunch him only to be FP'd back. Kingdra is comfortable switch in with Waterfall.

Ani461MS.png
Weavile - This thing is deadly. My best bet would be Heatran mopre than likely. But with his movepool, he can genuinly hurt my whole team with I.Punch/Night Slash/Low Kick. Can't hurt Kingdra too badly, and without Ice Shard, Aero can RS and Heatran can FB.

Defensive Threats

Ani242MS.png
Blissey - T.Wave ones can be annoying if they manage to Para Kingdra or Dusknoir before they Sub. Roserade can do well against it just by Leech Seeding it and stalling, although it can't damage it directly. But Seeding it can generally force it to switch and allows me to take it down later.

Ani437MS.png
Bronzong - Without EQ, Magnezone owns it with TBolt/HP Fire, Heatran can also kill it.

Ani251MS.png
Celebi - Dusknoir can hurt it with I.Punch and SS, Heatran has FB, Magnezone has HP Fire and Roserade has S.Bomb. Not really something I feel concerned about.

Ani477MS.png
Dusknoir - It pretty much comes down to my Dusknoir against his. I haven't fought many to have a real feel of how much of a threat he can be but I can imagine my Roserade stalling him with L.Seed and Heatran putting a nice big dent in him.

Ani205MS.png
Forretress - Magnezone can kill him, as can Heatran, again not much for me to worry about.

Ani472MS.png
Gliscor - Dusknoir can I.Punch him and is my main counter to him. He can hit alot of my team hard but he hasn't caused me too many problems yet.

Ani450MS.png
Hippowdon - I.Punch him and wear him down. Kingdra can also switch in, DD and then Waterfall him to death as long as I haven't taken too much damage, also Heatran has HP Grass to finish him off.

Ani479OMS.png
Rotom-A - Nothing much to worry about, most of my team can do alot of damage and Dusknoir can finish a weakened one with SS.

Ani227MS.png
Skarmory - Heatran and Magnezone can scare him away and without a Shed Shell, Magnezone can end it's life.

Ani143MS.png
Snorlax - This one heavily depends on what situation my Dusknoir is in, if I have a Sub up, I can FP and finish him off with something faster. If he Curses Up, it could cause big problems.

Ani245MS.png
Suicune - Calm Mind ones wreck me badly. Nothing I have is a really "safe" switch in. Kingdra can use it as set-up fodder and take it down with Outrage. If Suicune carries Roar with CM, then it either is missing I.Beam or Rest which means Roserade could Seed and stall without I.Beam, and my team could wear him down without Rest.

Ani260MS.png
Swampert - UGH! One of my least favourites to come up against. The only member with SE move against him is Heatran, and that it risky if I mis-predict, he generally takes down 1-2 Pokemon and can really hurt my team. This is one of the Pokemon I can have real problems with.

dpicon073.png
Tentacruel - Slightly annoying by absorbing my Toxic Spikes. Magnezone can generally take it down with TBolt, Kingdra can set-up on it. Again, nothing too concerning.

Ani134MS.png
Vaporeon - Have never come up against it so I can't really say how many problems I'll have with it, although I can see it making some trouble with Wish and Sub passing.

Ani145MS.png
Zapdos - I.Punch/RS can take care of it from Dusknoir and Aerodactyl respectively. Also, Magnezone can hurt it with TBolt as long as it doesn't carry Heat Wave.

There's my Completed threat list, I know it's not perfect and I've most probably messed up on some things but it's how I personally see each individual Pokemon, any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for reading/rating!

Is there anything my thread needs just so I can have it for future reference? It's my first proper post so I'd like to know what it needs/doesn't need.

On kingdra, rain dance is almost always better than sniper (bar crits). Also on MAgnezone, from my experience, Magnet rise has always saved my ass.

Ya, use Swift Swim over Sniper. Swift Swim lets you handle various rain dance sweepers like Ludicolo and Kabutops, while Sniper is a pretty terrible ability that is based solely on hax (anyway, +1 crit Outrage OHKOs most things as it is). Also, change the nature to Adamant -- without LO, Kingdra is just too weak to utilize a neutral nature.

This team is weak to Agiligross and Offensive DD Gyara. Because of this, I would rotate Dusknoir for a RestTalk Will-O-Wisp Rotom-A:

Rotom-A @ Leftovers
Bold
EVs: 252 HP/200 Def/56 SpA
-Thunderbolt
-Will-O-Wisp
-Rest
-Sleep Talk

Otherwise, the team seems pretty solid, good luck!

Pretty creative team. There are only a couple of suggestions I'd like to make, and both are fortunately minor.

First of all, I've never been completely sold on the effectiveness of Lead Aerodactyl, especially in this metagame. It often does no more than set up Stealth Rock, perhaps Taunt an opposing lead, and then leave you at a 5-6 disadvantage. Against offensive leads such as Machamp, you may be put on the defensive right from the start of the game. I will admit that in the case of Machamp, Dusknoir makes a good switch-in due to the low damage it takes from Payback, but it can't do much back to Machamp and is generally an inferior spinblocker when compared to Rotom-A, who has access to Trick to cripple special walls and a much better overall typing. If you find that it works well for you, then by all means keep it, but I think that a similarly fast lead with access to Taunt such as Colbur Azelf would perform better in the majority of cases. Azelf plays just about the same role as Aerodactyl, but has the advantages of U-turn to escape from unfavorable match-ups and Explosion to take out any notable threats to your team.

Next, I'd like to address your Kingdra's set. SubDD is still fairly effective, but I think that the newer Chesto Rest set may perform better on your team. Its greater amount of bulk and access to recovery make it an admirable sweeper, and Rest ensures that it can set up in the face of status-inducers. Here is the set:

230_20_0.png

Kingdra (M) @ Chesto Berry
Ability: Swift Swim
EVs: 144 HP / 160 Atk / 40 SpD / 164 Spe
Adamant nature (+Atk, -SpA)
-Dragon Dance
-Outrage
-Waterfall
-Rest

The EVs on this variant of Kingdra are quite specific. They give you enough special bulk to make sure that LO Starmie and +1 Offensive Suicune can only 3HKO you, allowing ou to safely set up on both. 164 EVs in speed is enough to outpace Jolly Scarf Flygon, a common revenge killer, after two Dragon Dances. Waterfall and Outrage retain the excellent offensive coverage of Water + Dragon; Empoleon is the only relatively common Pokemon in OU that resists the combo. Playing with this set is quite straightforward: simply switch Kingdra in to a Pokemon that it can set up on or force out, such as Heatran or a bulky Water-type, and proceed to Dragon Dance, ignoring any damage or status ailments that you accumulate. Right before you faint, use Rest to recover your health and the Chesto Berry will cause you to wake up instantly. Depending on the situation, you can then get in a couple more Dragon Dances, or begin sweeping right away. Due to this set's ability to net a high number of stat boosts, many Steel-types will even be 2HKO'd by Kingdra's Outrage, especially during later stages of the game when the opponent's team is sufficiently weakened. Chesto Rest Kingdra still has some amount of surprise factor, so it isn't unlikely that you will sweep through a significant amount of teams with it, or at least put a great amount of pressure on your opponents. I'd also like to second the suggestion of switching Kingdra's ability to Swift Swim. Sniper is dependant on hax, meaning that it will see no use in the majority of games. Swift Swim is the superior option due to its ability to give you a defensive measure against Rain Dance teams.

Good luck with your team!

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I like the idea of ChestoRest Kingdra and, although I do like my Dusknoir, that SleepTalk Rotom seems pretty awsome. With Dusknoir gone though, I'm down to using basically 1 physical Pokemon, will that make me be owned by Blissey and other effective special walls? Also, without Priority, will that mess me up as I have had SS on Dusk save me a few times, is there maybe one of my team I can exchange for a Physical Sweeper? Maybe SD Lucario or CB Scizor over Magnezone as Rotom-A now has TBolt?

I'm considering swapping Magnezone for a Sub Machamp so I have an effective counter to some Pokemon such as Blissey, Azelf and others, yay or nay? It will add more physical power to my team which, due to Dusknoir being replaced I don't have anymore. Failing that which physical pokemon can I add and which can I replace? Preferably, I want my attacker to have a priority move.
